Su Chen was intrigued. He circled her, looking her up and down. He’d never seen anything like her, not even in his past life.
"What’s your na?" Su Chen asked. "What can you do?"
"You may call No. Zero, Master." Her voice was soft, and her eyes were remarkably expressive.
"I can clean, cook, do laundry, and help you dress. I can also access the Judicial Court’s public network and your private network to assist with miscellaneous tasks. And... I can also help you relieve stress."
’Relieve stress? Impressive...’
"Show around the place first," Su Chen ordered.
"Yes, Master." No. Zero began at once, giving him a highly detailed tour of the living room, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen.
"...This is where the Gravity Chamber is to be installed. Since you haven’t confird the specifications, Master, there’s nothing here yet."
Su Chen looked at the empty basent. Next to it was the Potion Storage Chamber.
No. Zero opened the storage chamber, and a chill wafted out. "It’s kept at a constant temperature of eight degrees Celsius... This is the optimal temperature for preserving potions."
Su Chen stepped closer to look. The display cabinets on both sides were already lined with a potion that looked like viscous ink.
"This is ’Black Water,’ made from the glands of an Ink Lion. It’s used by physical Professionals in the latter half of Tier Two. This is Tier Two high-compression Nutrient Liquid, and this..."
"Glazed Blood..." Su Chen’s eyes lit up as he stared at the fifteen vials of pink potion on the lower shelf.
"That is a specialty product from Southwind City—your hotown. It has a special auxiliary effect on the developnt of Professionals at Tier Three and below," No. Zero explained. "Ordinary mbers of the Inner Courtyard receive three doses a month, Inner Court Seeds receive five a month, and Core Seeds receive fifteen a month."
"Tsk..." Su Chen picked up a vial and swirled it. The liquid rippled inside the glass tube, looking exceptionally beautiful under the light. He grinned. "Being a Core Seed really is different."
Su Chen was in an excellent mood. Even though the Gravity Chamber and that Spirit Realm Instrunt hadn’t been installed, he was still ready for an intense training session.
However, before he could begin, the doorbell rang.
Su Chen instinctively glanced at the front door. ’It’s so late.’
"Brother Su Chen..."
When he opened the door, Pang Xingwen’s face was plastered with a smile. He greeted him warmly, "We didn’t get a proper chance to talk at the banquet last ti."
He continued without prompting, "I know there might be so misunderstandings between us, but to be frank, I had no choice in so of those matters."
Su Chen remained expressionless. Pang Xingwen lowered his voice and said, "It’s Zhu Xuan. He’s a petty man, and he’s furious that you rejected his recruitnt offer."
Pang Xingwen had no qualms about framing Zhu Xuan. It wasn’t as if Su Chen could go and compare stories with Zhu Xuan, and even if he did, there was no guarantee he’d be believed.
’So shaless. Ready to throw his own backer under the bus in a heartbeat. He was glaring daggers at during the day, and now he cos to apologize at night.’
’He sure changes his tune fast,’ Su Chen thought to himself.
Pang Xingwen rattled on for a bit, furtively watching Su Chen’s face. When he saw no reaction, he couldn’t help but feel a surge of annoyance.
"Brother Su Chen, it’s like this..." Since Su Chen wasn’t taking the bait, he had no choice but to press on. "My father heard that we’ve had so misunderstandings, so he has arranged a banquet at our ho. He’d like to invite you to co tomorrow evening."
"My father wants to apologize to you personally."
His father, of course, had never said he would apologize in person, but as long as Pang Xingwen could get Su Chen to show up, his task would be accomplished.
"Your father?" Su Chen finally spoke.
"The Vice Minister of Inspection," Pang Xingwen clarified, putting heavy emphasis on the title.
Su Chen’s expression flickered. ’This guy shows up to apologize empty-handed, and on top of that, he invites to his house?’
’This wouldn’t be a trap, would it?’
