"The core..." Tie Feng’s expression changed slightly. "Yes, but they only form in extrely large ore veins. It’s a mutated tal that almost has life-like properties. If you use it to forge a weapon, it can even grant the weapon a self-repairing ability."
"Is it valuable?"
"Very valuable!" Tie Feng nodded emphatically. "If you wanted to buy one, it would cost around fifty million gold."
’That expensive, huh...’ Su Chen tutted. ’That’s even more than what I need to advance my Upper-tier Professions to the Top Level.’
But this was the advantage of special Professions. Once you acquired one, it was almost always useful, and the higher your Main Professional Tier, the more pronounced the effect.
’I can’t just sell off another Profession.’ He definitely wasn’t selling the Tier Three Top-level Professions he currently had; it would be too easy for soone to discover his weaknesses.
’That only leaves Secret Artifact Master and Secret Thought Master.’ He hesitated. ’Those two Professions are pretty powerful, especially Secret Artifact Master.’
"You can exchange for it..." Gu Bing reminded him quietly.
"Exchange?" Su Chen looked at her.
"Yes," Gu Bing nodded. "Didn’t you capture Priest Black Tuo? That’s a significant accomplishnt. Since it’s produced in one of the subordinate cities, the Judicial Court should have it in stock. Exchanging for this... core, shouldn’t be a problem."
"Oh, right. I almost forgot." It dawned on Su Chen. Although Judge You had been the one to make the capture, a figure of his status had no need for the credit and had long ago said it would be recorded under Su Chen’s na.
With one requirent taken care of, Su Chen was in a good mood. He continued, "And the Star of Void? What’s that?"
"The Star of Void is the core of an extraterrestrial teorite," Tie Feng explained.
"A teorite core..." Su Chen was a bit surprised. "Does the Judicial Court have it?"
"Ying Feng has them, but the Judicial Court doesn’t," Tie Feng explained. "A piece was discovered four years ago and is now stored in the Resource Library. It’s being slowly partitioned, with a Void Star Fragnt only becoming available every three or four months."
"It’s extrely versatile. It can be used to forge weapons, concoct Potions, and even substitute for materials required by certain Professions. Each ti a piece is released, while it might not cause a frenzy, there are always plenty of people bidding on it."
’Hard to get...’ Those three words sumd it up for Su Chen. He was a bit confused. "What do you an, ’bidding’?"
"It’s a distribution thod used by the Resource Library," Tie Feng explained. "Most conventional resources are allocated to the major organizations according to regulations. But for so extrely rare materials that everyone wants, the Resource Library doesn’t want to offend anyone, so they simply put them up for bidding."
"Oh..." Su Chen understood. He instructed Tie Feng to keep an eye out for when the next Void Star Fragnt would be released.
The sky had already darkened. Su Chen had intended to ask the two of them to stay for a al, but Tie Feng repeatedly declined. So, even Gu Bing, who had wanted to stay, had to leave with him.
’The place to redeem my rit is the Internal Affairs Departnt...’ Su Chen glanced at the ti, then decided to just head down to his basent. He would go check it out tomorrow morning.
’It would be best if I could handle all these requirents at once, so I don’t have to set aside specific ti for each...’ Su Chen kept mulling it over.
Early the next morning, he headed to the Internal Affairs Departnt. This departnt was responsible for dispatching personnel for duty and could mobilize nearly every mber of the Judicial Court, which gave it imnse power.
Many people had gathered inside. So had returned from subordinate cities to report on their duties, while others were about to head to subordinate cities to carry out missions.
"They actually assigned us a city with suspected Deceitful God Sect activity..." A few Judges ca out with bitter expressions. "Why couldn’t they give us a lucrative mission, like sothing involving smuggling..."
"Sir Su Chen..." When they saw Su Chen, they hurriedly stood up straight.
Su Chen nodded slightly and walked into the Internal Affairs Departnt. A low, noisy din flooded his ears. The lobby here was several tis larger than the one at the Professional Analysis Departnt, and it was crowded with people coming and going.
Su Chen found a staff mber, who similarly led him to the second floor to wait for a dedicated service representative.
This was mostly where Senior Judges ca to accept missions. Everyone’s expression was grave. So who had returned to report on their duties were still wrapped in special bandages.
Before long, the door opened, and a stout, portly man with a kind smile walked in.
"Sorry to keep you waiting." He ca forward and said with a smile, "I am the acting Deputy Director of the Internal Affairs Departnt, Xue Fei."
’It’s him...’ Su Chen certainly rembered this man. During Teng Liang’s interrogation at the Judgnt Departnt, this guy hadn’t held back on his snide comnts.
Not only was he the acting Deputy Director, but he was also an honorary director and a Tier Five Professional.
"I didn’t expect Deputy Director Xue to co personally," Su Chen said with surprise.
"A Core Seed, and you at that, naturally deserves special attention," Xue Fei said with a chuckle. "Whatever you need, just let know."
"It’s nothing. I was just bored and ca to have a look," Su Chen said, shaking his head. "I’ll be going now."
"Just bored, you say." Xue Fei’s smile widened. "What’s the hurry? Why not let show you around the Internal Affairs Departnt?"
"I won’t keep you from your work. I’m leaving, no need to see out." Su Chen left directly.
Xue Fei insisted on escorting him to the main entrance. He watched Su Chen leave, his smile gradually fading. He let out a cold snort before turning to go back inside.
’Can’t believe I ran into that guy.’ Su Chen shook his head discreetly. ’Soone who’s hostile toward Teng Liang is almost certainly not going to be friendly to . If I reveal what I need, he’ll find a way to make trouble for .’
’I’ll just go straight to the top... save myself the trouble.’ Su Chen turned and headed deeper into the Judicial Court’s complex.
Chong Jingtian was not in the Judicial Court, so he found Jiang Shu Mo.
"Exchanging for a Forged Ore Vein Core? Let check..."
Jiang Shu Mo sat behind his desk, swiping on the virtual screen that had popped up. He quickly found the target and looked quite surprised. "This thing is pretty rare. We only have one of them, and it costs a whopping one hundred and twenty thousand Contribution Points."
"Your capture of Priest Black Tuo can be converted to one hundred thousand Contribution Points, so you’re still twenty thousand short. But you also have the rit from reporting the Divine Blood, so that should just about cover it." Jiang Shu Mo’s tone was casual. "I’ll have soone from the Internal Affairs Departnt send it to you."
For the lower and middle tiers, the contribution system was very strict. If you didn’t have enough Contribution Points, you couldn’t make an exchange, simple as that.
But for a Chief Judge, waiving the cost was as simple as saying the word.
"There shouldn’t be any problems from the Internal Affairs Departnt, right?" Su Chen hinted.
"You an Xue Fei..." Jiang Shu Mo chuckled. "You’re being too cautious. Xue Fei and Teng Liang have so conflicts, but he wouldn’t go so far as to deliberately target you."
"Even if you had gone directly to him for the exchange, he would have given you what you were owed."
Su Chen smiled without a word. ’Maybe, maybe not. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.’
Just as he was about to get up and leave, Jiang Shu Mo suddenly said, "By the way, do you know about your own origins?"
Su Chen’s heart skipped a beat, not understanding. "What origins?"
"Your origins as a refugee..." Jiang Shu Mo spoke casually, but his eyes were fixed on Su Chen’s face. "I got curious these past few days and did so checking. I found out you were originally from Cliff Mountain City."
"Cliff Mountain City?" Su Chen was bewildered.
"A city that was destroyed," Jiang Shu Mo said offhandedly. "Don’t you rember? That was the place you were born."
"I don’t rember." Su Chen shook his head. ’The previous owner of this body had no mories of his origins, so there’s no reason for to care.’
"Hmm, it’s not a big deal anyway. You can go now." Jiang Shu Mo waved his hand dismissively.
"I appreciate your help." Su Chen rose, bid him farewell, and left the office.
...
BEEP, BEEP...
In the Internal Affairs Departnt, Xue Fei’s Wristband vibrated with an alert. He pulled up a virtual screen and saw a direct order from a Chief Judge.
’A Forged Ore Vein Core... so that’s what this is about.’ Xue Fei’s expression darkened as he scanned the ssage.
"Director Xue, what’s wrong?" Wei Yufan, who was sitting across from him, asked.
"It’s nothing," Xue Fei said, deactivating the virtual screen with a chuckle. "A funny thing happened earlier. Teng Liang’s little junior, Su Chen, paid a visit to the Internal Affairs Departnt. He didn’t say what he was here for; he just turned and left the mont he saw ."
"Turns out he wanted to exchange for sothing. He was probably afraid I’d interfere. Youngsters these days, honestly..." He shook his head.
"Su Chen?" Hearing the na, Wei Yufan frowned slightly and asked, "What did he want to exchange for?"
"A Forged Ore Vein Core..." Xue Fei said imdiately. "That thing is quite valuable. The Judicial Court only has one in stock right now."
"Is that so..." Wei Yufan said aningfully. "What if I were to exchange for it before he does?"
