"And there’s one more thing..." Lan Hao glanced at him. Even though they were the only two in the room, he lowered his voice. "Rumor has it that the Bronze Ancient King has split off a sliver of his consciousness and placed it on Lord Qing Cang."
"If you achieve the Three Reversed Dragons, not only will you gain the Spiritual favor of the Great Venerable Red Fla Thunder Resonator, but you’ll also be able to make a good impression on that Ancient King."
’Split off a sliver of consciousness?’ Su Chen was briefly stunned. He couldn’t help but ask, "Is this Morning Star Tier really that important? So much so that the Ancient King would split his consciousness for it?"
He rembered sothing he’d heard from Xia Hanshi. The Great Venerable Red Fla Thunder Resonator was supposedly connected to so major figure. ’Could it be this Bronze Ancient King?’
"It is important, of course, but there’s another reason why the Ancient King split his consciousness." Lan Hao revealed almost everything. "The previous holder of the Great Venerable Red Fla Thunder Resonator title was that Ancient King’s junior brother."
"See? This is a unique advantage. If word of this got out, the entire Dust Star Sea would erupt."
The benefits, the advantages, the future... he laid it all out. It was just a challenge against Wan Chen, and with Qing Cang watching, the Tier difference could be negated. There was no danger.
He didn’t believe this guy wouldn’t be tempted.
"It is a unique advantage..." Su Chen was also filled with emotion.
Only then did Lan Hao seem to realize, saying with a helpless tone, "I’ve said too much."
"Brother Su, you absolutely cannot leak any of this. If you do, Lord Qing Cang will have my head."
"Don’t worry. We get along so well. How could I possibly betray Brother Lan?" Su Chen promised solemnly.
"About the Three Reversed Dragons... I’ve thought about it again. It really is difficult." Lan Hao started to say, then stopped.
Su Chen nodded. "Brother Lan, I understand what you an."
Only then was Lan Hao satisfied. He chatted with him about this and that for a while longer before leaving his room.
’Royal Court... Sect... Bronze Ancient King... junior brother... split consciousness...’ Su Chen processed the new information as he walked to the window. The ground below grew smaller.
He couldn’t feel any vibration, but the ship had already taken off.
’If that Ancient King is really accompanying us, I might have a chance...’ Su Chen’s eyes flickered. ’But I can’t just take Lan Hao’s word for it.’
’As for his motive... is it really just to trick into sticking my neck out?’
He’d told him about all the benefits and advantages, and even things Qing Cang had forbidden them from ntioning. It all sounded pretty good.
But the key question was, if this was such a great opportunity, why didn’t Lan Hao do it himself?
’Looks like they aren’t a unified group internally. They all have their own agendas. It was right to hide my strength before; otherwise, this bunch would have united to target ,’ Su Chen mused, rubbing his chin.
’First, I need to find a way to verify if that Ancient King really ca with us,’ Su Chen thought, then began fiddling with the Spiritual Pressure Ring in his hand.
Using the device wasn’t difficult. Su Chen slipped it on his hand and, following the instructions Lan Hao gave him before leaving, found an area on the floor in a corner of the room marked with a "lightning bolt" insignia.
The mont he stepped on it, the tal Wristband on his arm imdiately began to vibrate.
Symbols on its surface lit up one by one, forming a holographic projection around the Wristband. It then burst forth with a web of Energy threads, thousands of light filants weaving a square area in the air.
Inside it, Su Chen felt the gravity constantly shifting until it quickly settled into a standard he was familiar with. Not only that, but his Spiritual Power also began to grow more active.
"Tsk... This is really convenient," Su Chen couldn’t help but remark. The area where he stood was the Wristband’s power supply zone. Maintaining this special supportive state consud Energy at a high rate.
A Professional would find it difficult to supply the power themselves, and the device’s internal stored Energy wouldn’t last long either. It was best to train in these powered zones.
After briefly adapting, Su Chen didn’t start training imdiately. He went out for a stroll, found Old Xia, and chatted for a bit, learning that they would reach the ruins in about ten days.
If not for the Nether Fog, which forced them to reduce their travel speed, they would have arrived in a single day, according to Qing Cang.
Still, ten days was very fast. Under normal circumstances, it would take them at least a month and a half to travel from Ying Feng to the ruins’ location.
"With a ti difference of over a month, will the other cities be able to send the Deceitful God’s Power in ti?" Su Chen frowned. He didn’t want to have to collect it all one by one later; he’d probably have to explain himself to Qing Cang then.
The Royal Court’s attitude toward Deceitful Gods and the Deceitful God’s Power was likely not friendly, and Qing Cang was no Old Xia.
"We’ll have to see," Old Xia said. He hadn’t expected the ship to be this fast either.
Su Chen then relayed so of the information he’d gotten from Lan Hao to Xia Hanshi.
"Just as I expected..." Xia Hanshi wasn’t too surprised. "These people aren’t on the sa side as the Royal Court. Chong Jingtian had already guessed as much, which is why he was hesitating to contact them."
"This Qing Cang is quite skilled. If he had co on strong with a firm and hostile attitude from the start, Chong Jingtian would have likely contacted the Royal Court long ago."
After hearing this, Su Chen simply fell silent. They exchanged a few more words before he returned to his room.
For the next few days, he rarely left his room, holing up inside to work on his Professional progression.
He could sit still, but soone else couldn’t. Lan Hao had been observing him in secret these past few days, thinking that Su Chen would be impatient to imdiately go and challenge Wan Chen.
But as it turned out, the kid had only gone out a few tis, for less than ten minutes each. The rest of the ti, he stayed in his room, as if he had forgotten all about it.
’What the hell is this guy doing? Does he really not want to be the chosen one? Has he just accepted his fate?’
Lan Hao gritted his teeth in secret. If this didn’t work, he would have to find another way. He couldn’t afford to waste any more ti.
On the fourth day aboard the ship, he could no longer hold back and knocked on Su Chen’s door.
"Brother Lan?" Su Chen looked at Lan Hao with surprise. "What is it?"
"About that thing I told you before...?" Lan Hao tried to be subtle. After all, if he ca right out and asked, "Why haven’t you challenged Wan Chen yet?", even a fool would know sothing was up.
His main goal was to figure out what Su Chen was really thinking.
"Oh, that," Su Chen said resignedly. "I ntioned it to Lord Wan Chen, but he seed a bit reluctant."
"Reluctant?" Lan Hao was shocked and suspicious. He thought the problem was with Su Chen, but it turned out the guy had actually brought it up already.
"Really?" Lan Hao was imdiately suspicious, then quickly clarified, "It’s not that I don’t believe you, but why would Wan Chen refuse?"
Su Chen said helplessly, "He said we’re all friends and that such a challenge would hurt feelings, so it was completely unnecessary."
"Unnecessary?" Lan Hao’s reaction was huge. He said, aghast, "He’s clearly looking down on you! How can you have no reaction when he says sothing like that?"
"What reaction could I have?" Su Chen sighed. "What kind of status do I have?"
"What do you an, ’what kind of status’?" Lan Hao looked at him, frustrated that he wasn’t living up to his potential. "Lord Qing Cang intends to take you as his disciple. Even if Wan Chen has an extraordinary background, he can’t talk like that."
"Co on, I’ll take you to him." Half of Lan Hao’s indignation wasn’t faked. He had thought Su Chen was scared, but it turned out Wan Chen was just too arrogant.
How could he not be angry after wasting several days because of this?
’He’s in such a hurry...’ Su Chen’s eyes flickered. Seeing Lan Hao head toward Wan Chen’s room, he followed.
It turned out, however, that he wasn’t in his room. After inquiring with the ship’s AI, they learned that he was currently with Qing Cang in the upper-level command room.
"Perfect..." Lan Hao keenly realized this was a golden opportunity that neither side could refuse.
He instantly beca even more indignant. "Lord Qing Cang is there too. This is perfect. Let’s have him hear this. I want to see what right Wan Chen has to say such things."
He led the way, heading straight for the command room. He didn’t have the clearance to enter, but after he announced himself, Qing Cang opened the door.
There were quite a few people inside. Qing Cang, Wan Chen, Lin Yue, and even Chong Jingtian were there. It looked like they were in the middle of discussing sothing.
"Lan Hao?" Qing Cang’s gaze swept over, then fell on Su Chen behind him. He frowned slightly. "What is it?"
