A Spectacular Success Story

[Ah, ah, please take a look!! Minister Ohara Kurotaro has appeared at the National Diet Building for the first ti since the accident! Uh, he's moving with the aid of a motorized wheelchair due to the severity of the accident, but—what the...!?]

Amidst the blinding flashes of countless caras, reporters montarily fell silent upon seeing Minister Ohara Kurotaro. It wasn’t out of respect but sheer shock at his grotesque appearance.

Having suffered a severely fractured skull and a traumatic brain injury, Minister Ohara's face was a patchwork of bolts holding the shattered bones together, supported by braces. To hide this disfigurent, the right half of his face was covered with a stark white plastic mask.

The motorized wheelchair told a similar story.

The brain damage had left his body partially paralyzed, robbing him of the ability to walk or even speak coherently. Yet, despite teetering on the brink of death after such a catastrophic accident, this was the man who had rallied the nation and saved Japan from the Dungeon Stampede.

This marked the birth of a new legend—the masked politician, Ohara Kurotaro.

And so, the Cabinet's abysmal approval ratings, once comparable to those of a flea, began a miraculous recovery.

While other nations still grappled with the Dungeon Stampede, worsening their citizens’ plight, Japan had managed to quash the second wave—though at great cost to the Self-Defense Forces. As the devastating effects abroad beca more apparent, the governnt’s determination and efforts were reevaluated and praised.

It was revealed that Minister Ohara had taken extraordinary asures to stop the Dungeon Stampede, even at the cost of his political career. Public sentint quickly shifted: “He’s the true politician we need!” cried the people, enraptured.

But, in reality, it was all a farce.

Ohara had been fleeing for his own life when he recklessly crashed into a Self-Defense Force vehicle while evading monsters. This incident was transford into a glowing tale of heroism by a staged narrative crafted by his secretary and an unshakable cadre of loyal supporters.

[Oh, if Minister Ohara’s car hadn’t intercepted the monster at that mont, my child and I wouldn’t be here today! I’m so grateful to him—so, so grateful!!]

[Thank you, Minister Ohara!!]

The truth was silenced. Those in the know—Self-Defense Force mbers—were bribed, promoted, or transferred to the Ministry of Unique Dungeon Counterasures, ensuring their silence.

Moreover, Ohara extended his so-called generosity to gravely injured Self-Defense Force personnel who had lost limbs in the fight against the Dungeon Stampede, absorbing them into the new ministry. This move was t with emotional gratitude from soldiers struggling with both physical trauma and fears for their future.

To the public, Ohara was now a figure of profound compassion, his reputation soaring to unprecedented heights.

But, again, this was nothing but calculated manipulation.

Ohara believed that those who bore similar grievous injuries to himself would harbor an intense grudge against the dungeons. And such soldiers, veterans of the front lines, would still outclass ordinary civilians, even without limbs. Public perception, however, painted him as a benevolent savior, almost to the point of disbelief.

Ohara’s severe injuries, decisive actions, and perceived kindness were all the byproducts of his belief that his political career was finished. With nothing left to lose, he had acted recklessly. Yet, through sheer coincidence and a series of fortunate outcos, his position was now unshakably secure.

Even his political rivals conceded: “That guy’s dangerous. Let’s not ss with him anymore!”

Yet, Ohara Kurotaro himself had not escaped unscathed.

Half his body was paralyzed, and his tongue was so numbed that he could no longer enjoy the gourt delicacies he once loved. With nothing left to live for but his hatred for the dungeons, his bitterness grew.

“O...i…”

“Yes, sir. Right away,”

Only one secretary remained utterly devoted to him. His na was Komoro Shuichi, a timid and loyal aide who had served as Ohara’s right-hand man for many years. With a mountain of housing debt, Komoro knew that Ohara’s death or downfall would spell his ruin as well.

Thus, his dedication to Ohara was unparalleled.

“(... …)”

“Yes, I understand. I’ll handle it as you wish.”

“Ladies and gentlen, I must apologize. Minister Ohara is unable to speak for himself. Therefore, I will act as his voice. I humbly ask for your understanding and cooperation.”

From sowhere, applause erupted. It grew into a thunderous ovation.

Unbeknownst to the crowd, the applause originated from planted reporters arranged by Komoro. The unsuspecting audience, however, was moved to tears.

The timid secretary, Komoro Shuichi, speaking on behalf of his master Ohara Kurotaro, was about to set the stage for a new chapter in their extraordinary success story.
