Noticing that the Imp didn’t have any intention of stopping anyti soon, Lake spoke out.
"Silence."
"..."
With one word, everyone paused as they stared at Lake in shock.
Lake didn’t care about their shock however and casually threw the book back to the demon girl.
"Catch."
"Huh? -Ah!"
The demon girl was surprised by the book suddenly flying towards her. She hurried to grab the book as she fumbled with it a bit before bringing it to her chest, holding it tightly.
Since Lake couldn’t understand the contents of the book for now, it was pointless for him to keep it.
The book was equivalent to a deck of cards, where every ti he drew a card, a random effect happened.
Lake found this randomness far too risky for his own use so he’d rather have soone who could use it properly hold onto it.
Looking at the three demons silently staring at him, Lake thought for a mont before he began to explain.
"I used the Soul Communication Spell from your book, so now we can properly communicate with each other instead of having to rely on vague interpretations."
"I have a few questions for you and you’re going to answer all of them truthfully."
Lake spoke as he employed his King’s Aura.
Although he couldn’t guarantee that the Gargoyle or the Imp would speak the truth, he at least had the assurance that the demon girl would answer his questions.
Seeing that the group in front of him nodded cautiously, Lake continued.
"Before I ask my questions, I prefer to have sothing to call you by. What are your nas?"
The group of demons remained silent for a mont before one of them took the first step forward.
"Hehe, I am Lucille of the Devil Imp clan. It is a pleasure to et you." The little Imp was the first to introduce himself.
Although he should consider Lake his enemy after essentially enslaving his master, he still kept a subtle smile on his face.
"I am Gargorosh of the Berserker Clan."
The Gargoyle was the next to introduce himself with an expressionless face.
Unlike the Imp who gave off a mischievous impression, Gargorosh spoke as if he had an uncaring attitude, but underneath that expressionless mask, Lake could see the burning rage in his eyes.
Compared to the Imp who used a friendly smile with unknown intentions, Lake much preferred the silent rage of the Gargoyle.
Finally, Lake stared at the demon girl who had yet to introduce herself.
With her head slightly lowered, the demon girl spoke in an almost inaudible voice.
"...Elisabeth."
Judging by her moody facial expression, Lake guessed that she must be feeling quite depressed.
"Alright, my first question. Do you know where you are?"
"Hmm, isn’t this the human realm?" Lucille was the first to answer with a confident expression on his face.
Lake didn’t imdiately correct Lucille but looked at everyone else. Seeing their silent nods to Lucille’s answer, Lake didn’t keep them waiting.
"You’re both correct and wrong at the sa ti. This is a human realm, but it isn’t the human realm you are familiar with."
Lucille and the rest seed slightly confused by Lake’s answer.
"What do you an? Isn’t there only one human realm?" Lucille asked with a puzzled expression.
However, before Lake could answer, Gargorosh spoke.
"This is not our world."
"Huh?"
This ti, both Lucille and Elizabeth were confused.
Lake watched Gargorosh with interest. It seed that he had caught on after Lake’s hint.
"I can’t explain it too well. Lucille, you should have noticed the difference in the mana around us."
"Hmm... I haven’t managed to get a grasp of the mana outside the storm, but now that you ntion it, I did notice a subtle difference compared to the mana in the demon realm."
"It feels more... neutral."
Lake raised an eyebrow at Lucille’s strange answer.
"Explain."
"I don’t think I would be able to explain it well... Princess, I feel you would be more well versed in this matter."
Lucille spoke with a slight grin on his face.
Elisabeth, who still seed to be moping, raised her head with a frown.
"Sigh... The mana in the air is neutral because it is unaffected by the Deities. The holy mana of the human realm isn’t conflicting with the demonic mana of the demon realm."
Seeing that Lake was staring at her silently, Elisabeth folded her arms.
"If this truly is another world, it would explain why the mana is neutral. In our world, the Deities of the human realm constantly release a holy aura into the atmosphere, influencing the mana. The Deities of the demon realm do the sa."
"These Deities, what are they?"
"Deities refer to beings who have transcended the limits of the world. Their strength is so profound that it affects the fundantal rules that build up the world itself, like a God."
"They usually reside in a separate space to prevent the world from collapsing under their presences and their influence mostly extends to their followers who occasionally receive their blessings."
Learning of this new concept of Deities, Lake was slightly amazed.
The idea of gods wasn’t unheard of in the Grey Dragon Continent, but most religions had died out after The Disaster. People had continued to pray and hope that their gods would save them, but in the end, most of the world was destroyed and it was humans who ended up saving themselves, not the gods.
Those who did survive felt either abandoned by their gods or didn’t worship them as they once did.
Of course there were a faithful few who continued to believe and gather to worship their almighty, however, they were small in numbers and weren’t taken seriously in the continent.
Knowing that Gods basically existed in another world however, caused Lake to rethink his thoughts on this world’s religion.
If the other world is capable of housing gods, why couldn’t his own do the sa?
However, before Lake could continue this thought, Elisabeth quickly shut him down.
"Since the mana is so neutral however, there are probably no Deities in this world."
"What does the mana remaining neutral have to do with the Deities?"
Elisabeth paused for a mont to think.
She probably didn’t notice it herself, but she didn’t seem depressed any longer.
Lake didn’t know if it was because she was a child and her mood swings could be spontaneous, or that she was simply too invested in the topic at hand.
Rembering the slight grin Lucille had when he asked her to explain, Lake suddenly felt that it was the latter.
"... Deities can affect the natural world simply by existing. Their re presences could cause great disturbances in the basic functions of the world. That’s why the aura they release can also affect its mana, one of the basic principles of a world."
"Hm? What if a world didn’t have mana?" Lake asked a question as the thought appeared in his mind.
"Then that world would be considered a low class world. Mana is a function of higher classed worlds and without it, Deities cannot be born."
After hearing her explanation, Lake suddenly understood sothing.
It wasn’t a matter of whether the Gods existed in his world, but the simple fact was that they couldn’t.
Mana didn’t exist in his world until the rifts started to appear, leaking mana out from inside.
In an instant, questions started racing through Lake’s mind.
’Doesn’t that an that his world was originally a low class world? Then what about now? Mana had appeared from within the rift but it didn’t originally originate from this world. Is the world still considered a low class world?’
Looking at Elisabeth who seed to have cald down from her rambling, Lake thought for a mont before asking a question he had on his mind for a while.
"You sure know a lot about other worlds."
"That’s because summoning magic in our world involves contacting other worlds to summon creatures from them."
Hearing this, Lake gained so clarity on the little demon girl’s extensive knowledge on such a complicated topic.
"Alright, since you already seem to understand your current situation, I won’t waste ti explaining and just get straight to the point."
"You need to hide."
"..."
None of the three demons said anything in return. They seed to have so understanding of their current situation.
Lake thought it must be their original cautious attitude towards humans after considering the war between them in their world.
"This is a human dominated world and if you wish to get by, you’ll have to go through a few complicated procedures."
"I unfortunately don’t have the ti to deal with all the procedures yet. That’s why you’re going to go into hiding instead."
Everyone nodded their heads at his orders. It wasn’t like they could resist anyway so they just went along with it.
"Mhm, Elisabeth, do you have anything to disguise yourself to make everyone look like humans?"
At his words, Elisabeth slightly nodded her head after thinking for a while.
"Cast it on everyone. After that, I’ll lead you down into the city and sort out everything from there."
As Elisabeth flipped open her little spell book, she flipped through the pages before stopping on one in particular.
After grabbing it, she ripped it out before a bright blue fla covered all three of them.
Lake stood back as he watched the magnificent transformation process.
