Now reading: Chapter 54: Golden Fate Farming Operation! from My Roleplay System, a Fantasy novel by Lagaru.

Lake was stunned when he saw the system notification.

He didn’t expect to get the chance to absorb another power from a creature’s fate. The last ti he had such an opportunity was when he had killed the Goblin King during the exam and absorbed his fate.

Since then, it had been almost a month and in that ti the number of creatures he had killed crossed into the thousands and yet he still hadn’t received another chance to absorb power from fate.

This made Lake realize exactly how rare of an opportunity he had co across when he killed the Goblin King.

Now that he had gotten the chance again, Lake was extrely excited. The last ability he gained was the King’s Deanor, a small passive skill that he was able to derive the powerful buffing and debuffing skill King’s Aura from.

When Lake looked at the ssage asking him whether he wanted to begin the absorption process, he decided to wait for a bit. Right now he was in the open and he still had sothing to deal with before he could focus on the absorption process.

Turning his head, Lake looked towards the survivor group, specifically Roro.

Lake had actually arrived on the battlefield a little earlier but had decided to hide and watch after he had seen the changes being made to Roro’s fate.

Roro’s fate had gone through a complete evolution from the original blue to the now golden strands. During the battle between Roro and the Shadow Beast, Lake took the chance to investigate the reason for this change by looking through Roro’s fate.

However, no matter how hard Lake searched, he couldn’t find a reason for the change. To Lake, it seed as though Roro’s fate had naturally evolved. However, Lake knew that such a thing was genuinely impossible.

After all, if soone could just change their fate like Roro could, what would be the point of the Master of Fate? As the words, "Master of Fate" crossed Lake’s mind, he suddenly ca to a realization.

What if it was the Master of Fate that changed his fate?

As soon as the thought crossed his mind he imdiately started looking through Roro’s fate, and certainly enough, he found sothing that sounded vaguely familiar to him in Roro’s past.

When Lake saw this, he turned his head to Eliza who was fighting alongside Roro and read through her fate and found the mont where she eavesdropped on the conversation Lake had with Leah outside the Martial Arts Arena.

After watching Eliza’s fate, Lake had gained a new understanding of what kind of effects he could have on fate. Even a few words from him could lead to a drastic change in soone’s fate.

Lake also thought of another problem at this point. He gains RP whenever he roleplays as the Master of Fate, wouldn’t changing soone’s fate like this still count as roleplay?

To answer this question, Lake opened up his status screen to check his RP points and certainly enough, it had increased by over 100 points without him doing anything at all!

[RP Points = 862.521]

After seeing the increase in RP, Lake was completely convinced and decided to look at the other question that had popped up in his mind.

From Lake’s understanding, a white colored fate represented a normal destiny that wouldn’t achieve anything amazing. This was the fate that most people possessed.

A green colored fate was the representation of luck and vitality. Anyone with a green colored fate was destined to live a long and happy life. Lake had seen a few people with this fate, Evelyn being one of them.

Golden colored fates were linked to wealth and achievent. People with this color of fate were destined to live a wealthy life full of victories and achievent. Lake had only ever seen two people with a golden colored fate. One was Harper, who he had t only a short while ago, and Leah, Evelyn’s best friend whose fate was only slightly golden and still mostly white.

Blue colored fate belonged to martial artists or creatures that had absorbed mana. Lake still wasn’t sure why the mana had such an effect on fate but after seeing Roro’s fate turn Golden, he ca up with a hypothesis for the reason.

Lake guessed that mana had the ability to change or improve the fate of whatever absorbed it, aning that a creature with mana had a fate that had been evolved and strengthened by it. Lake also had a piece of evidence to support this claim.

A long ti ago, when Lake first acquired the Master of Fate role, he had obtained two skills along with it. One was the Observer of Fate skill he had been using all this ti to look into people’s fate and see their past, present and glimpses of their future.

The other was Writer of Fate, a skill that allowed him to change the fate of others. This skill had the limitation of needing mana to use it and because of this, Lake had been ignoring it all this ti, waiting for the mont he finally found a suitable technique to absorb mana and start using it.

However, since the skill was used to change the fate of others and required the use of mana to do it, it got him to start thinking about the possible effects of mana on fate and the link between them.

As for the reason why Roro’s fate had changed from its original blue color to its new golden color, Lake guessed that this was because the golden colored fate was of a higher rank than the blue fate and the mana had little effect on it.

Since the golden color fate was of a higher rank, it replaced the lower colored blue fate and evolved into the brilliant golden colored fate in front of him.

As Lake’s mind filled in the blanks, he realized the imnse value of a golden colored fate. Suddenly, Harper, Roro and even Leah’s value in Lake’s mind skyrocketed by a few ranks.

"Harper and I just t and she owes a debt for saving her group. The sa could also be said for Roro. It should be easy to reap a large amount of benefits from them. Leah and I started off on a bad foot, maybe I should try being nicer to her in the future. However, her fate isn’t fully golden so she isn’t a priority for now. When the ti cos, I’ll reap a large amount of benefits from all of them! Wait, I should cultivate them so more first. That’s right... I’ll nurture them and watch them grow up before harvesting them for an even greater reward. I even have a na for it. I’ll call it the Golden Fate Farming Operation!"

While Lake was fantasizing and planning for the future, the survivor group had taken this ti to recover so of their mana. Since the beast was dead, Roro and Eliza had taken this chance to calm themselves and absorb so mana to replenish their reserves. As for Professor Sun, even though the beast was dead, he was still in no mood to ditate with the death of his family still looming in his mind.

After a while, Roro was the first to recover to the point where he could move, although with great difficulty.

As Roro got up, he walked over to the figure covered in blood who was standing still.

"Thank you for saving us." Roro spoke as he cupped his hands and bowed with great difficulty.

Hearing Roro’s words, Lake was pulled back from his fantasy. Looking at Roro’s brilliant golden colored fate, Lake set his eyes on the first "crop".

"Don’t ntion it, Roro. Are the rest of you ok?"

When Roro heard his na he was surprised and raised an eyebrow, "You know ?"

"I’ve heard about your na in passing."

When Roro heard this, he nodded his head slightly. He didn’t suspect a thing since he knew he was considered a small gossip topic among hunters due to his talent and history.

"We’ve all used up our mana and are exhausted from staying inside the rift for a few days now so it’s going to be difficult to move for a while but we haven’t sustained any serious physical injuries."

"I know a place where you can gather so fruits to help recover your mana... Although it’s a little ssy. When you recover enough to move I’ll guide you there. For now, your other party mber is resting at the bottom of the cliff-"

Before Lake could continue speaking he was interrupted by Professor Sun who had his head down all this ti, "Are you talking about Harper?! Did she survive the fall?!"

Lake looked at the old man lying on the floor. From what he had seen from Harper’s fate he knew that he was her grandfather.

"Yes, she survived the fall and has already received ergency treatnt from . However, my dical skills were extrely rudintary. I’ll guide you to her now so that you can et up and take over her recovery."

"Oh... thank you, thank you..." Professor Sun spoke with tears in his eyes. He seed to be overjoyed at the news.

"I also thank you for saving her. It was my responsibility to protect her and I failed at even that. Now that she is still alive however, I feel like a weight has been removed from my heart. I really an it when I say I am grateful for this."

Roro said as he bowed once more, this ti however, Lake could sense a lot more sincerity from it. It seems that saving Harper had more of an effect on him than saving himself.

"If you really feel that grateful, there is sothing you could do for ."

When Roro heard Lake’s words he was slightly stunned before releasing a soft sigh. He had almost forgotten that this was the world of hunters, a vicious place where everyone looked out only for themselves and their group.

After all, poking your nose where it doesn’t belong can oftentis leave you dead, and so of the tis it wasn’t even a monster but by the hands of another hunter.

For soone to go out of their way to save him, he should’ve expected that he wanted sothing.

However, Lake’s next words had left him completely stunned.

"If you could, I would like for you to treat to a drink and give a few tips about being a hunter."

"W-What?" Hearing Lake’s words, Roro was so shocked that his brain froze for a few monts.

"Is that a no?"

"N-No, I was just slightly stunned by your request. If that is all you really want then I can accept it." Roro didn’t know why, but he suddenly felt a chill go up his spine.

Did I just get asked out by a guy and agreed to it?

Another chill went up his spine at the thought of this. However, what Roro didn’t know was that this was exactly what Lake wanted. By first getting close to him, he would be able to slowly watch over his growth until he deed Roro ripe for the harvest.

"Good, then let’s move on imdiately. We shouldn’t keep the poor girl waiting by herself."

At that point however, Lake and the rest suddenly felt the ground shake as a loud shriek echoed through the rift.

Looking towards the origin of the sound, Lake saw that a thunderstorm had ford over the top of the large golden tree. Lightning was sparking between the clouds and Lake could hear the loud cries of a bird even from the mountain top that was more than 30 kiloters away.

When Lake saw this he imdiately knew that the Empress and the Wolf King had finally made their move!
