Due to the large number of students, they had to relocate to the open field behind the training hall.

When everyone was settled in, Alec and Instructor Bane ca forward to act as referees for the match. After all, with so many students gathered around to fight one person, so precautions were needed.

After everything was settled Lake looked on with a subtle smile on his face at the opposing crowd of students whose numbers were still getting bigger.

It seed that so people caught news about the event on the form and ca to join in on the fun.

After all, Lake never said there was a limit to the number of students he would fight, and the chance to join in on such a wondrous event was a chance to throw so fun in their normal routine.

When everything was set up and the match was ready to begin, after a quick count, Lake found that there were fifty students!

Seeing the large number, Lake’s original smiling face twitched a little.

Although he had a few cards up his sleeve, when it ca to fighting in a group, a group of fifty opponents was still a big number for Lake to fight on his own.

Most of his combat experience related to assassination, a skill that was sealed since he couldn’t obviously go around killing his classmates.

His Weapon Master skill didn’t cover his gauntlets since it counted it as armor instead of a weapon so Lake couldn’t use that either.

However, his greatest disadvantage was his inability to use King’s Aura which was more or less his trump card when fighting large groups of enemies due to his earlier promise.

Right now, Lake was relying on the hand to hand skills he trained prior to entering the academy and the few lessons he took during the two weeks he attended to guide his fighting style.

For everything else, he was planning to rely on brute force with his enhanced physique to carry him through.

Although, he did have one more card he hadn’t had the chance to play since he acquired it...

After confirming everyone was ready, Alec stood between Lake and the horde and spoke.

"This is a many against one match where the numbers are extrely uneven. That is why normally we would add so special rules to even out the sides for this type of match, however, on the request of the disadvantaged, this match will proceed like a normal one."

"You lose either by surrendering or being deed unable to continue to fight. I, Alec Malcom, a Martial Grandmaster will act as the judge for this match with Instructor Bane to assist . You are deed unable to fight if you are either knocked unconscious, run out of mana or are physically unable to continue. These are the rules set up after consulting both parties so there will be no disagreent."

"With that, let the match begin!"

At Alec’s final words, he leaped back to outside the designated fight area and stood alert.

Lake stood a good distance away from the group of students who had already ford a basic formation before the match started.

Although they had only been training for two weeks, they had already understood the importances of team cooperation, especially after knowing their first exam was a group based one.

The students who used bows and similar long ranged weapons were sent to the front and drew their arrows instantly upon hearing Alec start the match.

Behind them was a group of warriors who were ready to rush forward after the first volley was shot.

Looking at the formation, Lake felt a headache but didn’t waste ti as he rushed forward almost instantly.

He couldn’t afford to directly take a rain of arrows even with his enhanced physique. Although it wouldn’t injure him severely, it would leave him weakened which he couldn’t afford in this battle that was destined to be a prolonged one.

When Lake closed the distances between him and the group to around 20 ters, the archers finally released their bow strings as a rain of around a dozen arrows ca flying his way.

As they neared him, Lake raised his gauntlets as he released mana into the rune enchantnt on the gauntlets, causing it to light up as a wave of power rushed into his arms.

With a low shout, Lake punched forward with the might of the Steel Body Martial Arts behind him.

Whoosh!

With a strong gust of wind, most of the arrows deviated from the original path, missing Lake entirely.

Only one arrow managed to pass through and that was the one shot by Kate.

clink!

With a light sound, the arrow bounced off of Lake’s tallic skin after being weakened by the gust of wind.

After the volley of arrows was dealt with, Lake’s next challenge soon approached as the rest of the students behind the archers rushed forward!

Lake smiled as he entered a hunched stance, his throat expanding as a dark power bubbled up inside him.

When Lake had saved Roro and his group inside the rift, he had managed to acquire a strand of power from the fate of the beast he had slain.

As the dark power bubbled up, it filled Lake’s throat with a primal desire to scream out. When the desire beca too strong for Lake to bear, he leaned backward as he shouted towards the sky causing a small shockwave to sound out!

GRAHHH!!!

A nightmarish roar echoed out across the field causing everyone that was running towards him to montarily pause in place.

Everyone in the area felt a strange energy invade them directly attacking their brain causing an unbearable headache as an indescribable fear began to grow within them.

Alec and Bane who were carefully observing from afar were shocked when they heard the roar as it had also affected them!

[Howling Roar - Let your primal instincts run wild and roar out at the surroundings! Anyone who hears your scream will be induced with the nightmare’s fear.]

This was the ability Lake had acquired from the Nightmare Beast’s fate.

He never had the chance to use it due to the effects being too ominous and Lake not daring to use it in a public space where civilians were around.

After the initial confusion from the sudden invasion, Alec and Bane used their mana to quickly dissipate the ominous energy, freeing them from the effects of the nightmare’s fear.

When they looked up, they were once again shocked by Lake who had used another unique ability.

"How many tricks does he have up his sleeve?" Alec wondered as his original curiosity towards this fight turned into excitent.

If Lake was already this capable despite not even having enough mana to be considered a Low Tier Martial Apprentice, what else could he show him?

Soon Alec found out as he watched Lake rush into the flock of frightened ’sheep’.

Stretching out his hand, Lake grabbed the first martial Warrior by the head before lifting him up and smashing him down into the ground.

Bang!

With a soft bang, a cloud of dust kicked up as the student that had been slamd into the ground instantly passed out.

Luckily the student had already learned the basics of mana manipulation and quickly used it to shield his body, otherwise the damage dealt would have been ten tis worse.

Grrr....

Lake subconsciously released a low growl as the surrounding students shivered in uncontrollable fear.

He didn’t know why, but after he used Howling Roar, his reasoning had been constantly weakening as the primal instincts deep within him continued to grow.

Just now, when Lake had slamd down the student to the ground, his primal instincts had briefly taken over causing him to not hold back during that attack. If it wasn’t for him briefly regaining his sanity and holding back at the last second, that student would have been dead.

Looking at the fear in the students around him, Lake felt the primal instinct only continued to grow stronger as his consciousness quickly faded.

Right before Lake’s sense of self faded, he briefly muttered sothing to himself.

"Mustn’t... kill..."

"Only... injure..."

With a snap, Lake felt all sense of reason escape him as his last words being the only thing lingering in his mind.

At that point, Kate who was also under the effects of the Nightmare’s Fear figured out she could use mana to cancel it out.

"Quick, use your mana to fight against the invading energy!"

Hearing Kate’s words, many students hurriedly manipulated their mana to destroy the Nightmare’s Fear in their mind.

However, a few students were unlucky and their mana wasn’t strong enough to fight against the Nightmare’s Fear, causing them to collapse to the ground.

Looking at the field, Kate knew that the situation had taken a turn for the worse.

Never did she expect Lake to have not one but two awakened abilities!

However, little did Kate know, the true nightmare had only just begun.
