A few minutes later, Lake walked out of the Principal’s office, satisfied with his gains.

Lake had asked the Principal if he could get the official support of the academy for the training program.

Naturally, Principal Ralph refused him at first, but after listening to Lake’s explanation and all that the academy had to do, Lake was able to sohow convince the older man.

What Lake asked for was simple, a private area where he could conduct the training program.

The academy occupied a large area of land with a lot of it being unused wilderness. After negotiating so terms and conditions with the Principal, Lake managed to gain access to a plot of woods within the academy grounds.

The condition Lake had to fulfill in order to get the land was sothing that Lake willingly took on.

Help to clear up a monster infestation each month with the third years!

This may have seed like a difficult and unrewarding condition to any other first year, but to Lake, this was a blessing in disguise.

Although the chances of encountering several Rank Two beast was increased greatly, this mattered little to Lake as with his skills, even if he couldn’t kill a Peak Rank Two beast, the Rank Two beast couldn’t kill him.

However, the most important thing Lake was taking away from this event was the fates of the slain beasts, or more accurately, the RP points he gained from them!

Ever since he upgraded the Arcane Knowledge skill to the max level, his RP points had fallen significantly leaving him with only around a thousand points, which was nowhere near enough to satisfy Lake’s current needs.

If Lake was going to complete the quest and prepare himself for whatever danger was approaching, he was going to need to upgrade all of his skills which was going to require a large amount of RP points that Lake didn’t have.

Now that the opportunity to earn the RP points had presented itself, Lake was naturally going to take it.

As he finished his business with the principal, Lake decided to head to the plot of land he had acquired. It was better to scout out the area early.

As Lake was leaving, inside the Principal office, Ralph sighed to himself as shook his head.

"The younger generation is certainly much bolder than the older one."

Originally he had given Lake the task of fighting in the clean up team with the third years to scare him off.

After all, Lake’s strength was barely enough to fight with Rank Two beasts which would be the main forces of the clean up operation.

However, little did he expect Lake to jump at the opportunity to participate in the clean up duty.

With another sign, Principal Ralph helplessly murmured to himself, "I’m getting too old for this. I should look to pass on my responsibilities to my granddaughter soon, that way I can retire early..."

...

Lake walked through the pathway leading towards the arena.

The area of land the principal had given him was located near the arena so Lake was following the path to it.

As Lake walked, he sensed a presence approaching him from behind. The strange thing was that it was coming from above him.

Frowning, Lake turned around to see what it was.

His eyebrows raised when he saw the pair of fluttering wings coming towards him.

Naturally, the person flying towards him was Sylph.

"Hey! Quick, help hide!"

Hearing the words of the troubleso fairy, Lake’s eyes twitched as he turned around and continued to walk.

However, he didn’t expect for the fairy to co right beside him and hold on tightly to his arm!

"Hey! Don’t ignore ! It’s really important!"

Lake looked plainly at the pouting fairy beside him.

"I say, Miss Sylph, if its really that important, you wouldn’t be wasting ti here with and instead continue to keep running, no?"

Hearing this, Sylph lowered her head as Lake was slightly surprised by her wings disappearing into her back behind her.

The next thing he saw left him even more speechless as Sylph muttered sothing in an unknown language causing her hair to turn from green to black, making her look like a normal beautiful human girl.

What shocked Lake the most was that he sensed no form of mana with his Magic Eye when she changed her hair color! If it wasn’t mana or sothing magic related, then how did she do it?

"Can all fairies change hair colors so easily? Do they have an organ that secretes a chemical that changes their hair color so easily?"

Since the change wasn’t related to mana, Lake started to think from a scientific point of view.

It was at that point that Lake sensed another presence fast approaching from the sky.

Without turning back, Lake watched as the next fairy who Lake saw to be Iris flew past the two of them.

When Sylph saw that Iris had disappeared from the surroundings, she breathed a sigh of relief as a content expression appeared on her face.

"Finally, I got away from her."

Lake’s eyes twitched again upon hearing Sylph’s casual words.

"Miss Sylph, I wonder if you got into a lot of trouble in your past?"

"Hmm, how did you know?"

When Lake heard her confirmation, he felt as if a walking ti bomb had latched itself onto him.

"Well then, Miss Sylph, since you’ve escaped your pursuits, I best be on my way."

Hearing Lake want to leave, Sylph’s arm that was holding on to his gripped down tighter.

"No way! Your presence is the only reason why Iris didn’t spot when she passed by just now. If you leave, I’m afraid she would co straight to and bring back."

Lake was slightly speechless, but his curiosity had been ignited as he continued to ask, "What do you an that my presence prevented Iris from spotting you?"

When Sylph heard Lake’s question, she knew she had ssed up.

"W-Well you see, I don’t know why but Iris seems to have sothing against you..."

Sylph spoke while looking slightly down.

Lake was slightly stunned when he heard that the fairy he had never interacted with hated him.

"What did I do to make her hate ?"

Lake asked with a confused expression but because Sylph had her head down, he didn’t notice the sigh of relief on her face.

"Hmm, I’m not sure. It started around the ti when we first t but I don’t know why she suddenly started hating you."

Lake thought back to when he first t the group. Suddenly, he had an idea as to what it could be.

"Miss Sylph, is Iris by chance really loyal to you, or protective of you?"

Hearing this, Sylph started pouting again.

"Hmph! She isn’t just protective, she’s overprotective and never wants to leave my side! Although I like her and treat her as one of my closest friends, her constant overprotectiveness can be really overwhelming at tis."

When Lake heard this, he knew that his guess was right. When he first t Sylph, his action could indeed be described as incredibly rude to her so maybe he indirectly offended Iris this way.

"Well then, when do you think you could leave my side, Miss Sylph?"

"Hmm... Until I had my fun I guess?"

Lake sighed helplessly, "Thought so..."

Seeing that Lake continued to walk forward, Sylph followed closely behind.

"So, I never got the chance to talk to you after we first t. I’ve tried to approach you on several occasions but the other students would surround and you would disappear soon after."

"Hmm, is that so?" Lake spoke plainly as he continued to walk forward.

"I wonder what makes so interested that Miss Sylph would want to constantly talk to ?"

"It’s because you’re the only one who doesn’t want to talk with !"

Hearing these childish words, Lake really wanted to run away.

"Everyone else cos up to and at least tries to greet but you’re the only one who constantly avoids ."

"Did you ever consider that I may not just want to talk with you or was too busy to say hello?"

"Naturally, I thought of this, but so what? If sothing’s interesting, I must chase after it and you, Lake, are the most interesting person in your class."

"What makes so interesting?"

"I don’t know!"

Hearing this, Lake suddenly felt like he was losing more and more of his intelligence the longer he continued to talk to the fairy.

"First you tell I’m interesting then you boldly exclaim that you don’t know after? Do you take for a fool? Well I might as well beco one if I continue to talk with you." Lake thought to himself.

At this point, he had had enough.

Breaking free of Sylph’s grip on his arm, he put on his usual smile as he spoke quickly before running away.

"Well then, Miss Sylph, it was fun talking to you but I really must be going, I have so matters to attend to."

Lake’s presence quickly faded from the world as he dashed away without a thought.

Sylph was slightly stunned but by the ti she had recovered, Lake had long disappeared and she couldn’t find even a trace of him in the surroundings.

"But I wasn’t done talking to you..."
