Rebecca Kelloway held tightly onto Regina Kelloway’s hand, pointing at Ashton Heath and calling out to him in overwhelming euphoria.
Regina turned to look at Rebecca, her eyes once again filled with sorrow. She tightened her hold on her sister’s hand, "Rebecca, please don’t do this. You scare Ashton by constantly repeating his na."
Yet Rebecca seed to not take in her words, continuing to shout excitedly, "Ashton, Ashton."
"She’s been having these episodes often lately," Regina said with a bitter smile. "Suddenly, she’ll start calling out your na over and over and nothing we say can break that circle until she wears herself out."
"I’m sorry, Ashton, Joanna." Regina apologized, "I know I shouldn’t have brought her here. I’m aware that you probably didn’t want to see her. But, the doctor said any shock would be detrintal in her condition."
"I was afraid if she kept throwing these fits, her situation would get worse."
"It’s okay. I do not mind." Joanna Lawrence glanced at Rebecca, realizing she also had no recollection of her. Even though Rebecca had laid her eyes on her earlier, she didn’t react.
It wasn’t like before.
Every ti Rebecca saw her, her eyes were filled with hatred.
Yet, when Rebecca looked at her an hour ago, she stared as if seeing a stranger.
No hatred, nor any other emotions.
However,
Rebecca had once hated her so vehently, yet a car accident managed to eradicate her from Rebecca’s mory.
But she still rembered Ashton Heath.
She must... truly be in love with Ashton Heath.
She loved him so much that even when she forgot everyone else, she still rembered him.
No wonder her obsession with Ashton was so intense.
Perhaps, this was a clue that tragedy was inevitable in her life.
Whether caused by a car accident or anything else.
As for the current Rebecca, Joanna Lawrence sincerely believed all her past resentnts vanished.
Rebecca, who was busy shouting Ashton’s na, turned and looked at Joanna after she spoke. Just as Joanna had observed, there were no emotions in Rebecca’s eyes when she saw her. It was as if they had never t before.
If she had to assign an emotion in Rebecca’s reaction towards her, it would be curiosity.
After one curious glance, she shifted her gaze to Ashton again.
"Ashton, could you please speak to my sister? It’s only your words she will listen to. We need her to co willingly with us to the doctor," Regina pleaded. She knew she was making an awkward request, so she quickly added, "I know this is quite an imposition, but she just saw you. She wouldn’t want to leave with us. In her current circumstances, she only lends her ear to what you say."
Ashton Heath pressed his lips together, remaining silent.
"Ashton, I beg you. You can say anything," Regina pleaded again with tears in her eyes, "I know Rebecca made many mistakes in the past, but she is being punished now."
"Regina, you should not beg him!" Lady Patrice angrily marched forward, dragging Regina to her side. With eyes filled with rage, she glared at both Ashton Heath and Joanna Lawrence. "Your sister was victimized because of him."
"And now, you dare to plead with the man who ruined your sister!"
