"Not at all. I was just quite bored at ho today when I received your call. So, going for a stroll outside seems much more preferable over staying at ho doing nothing."
"Oh, really?" The familiar voice carried a tint of laughter and a gentle tone that Joanna had never before detected. "That’s good then, I was afraid you’d be bored."
"Madam White, are you planning to buy sothing for your granddaughter?"
"Yes, I was thinking of visiting her tomorrow."
"But didn’t you ntion that the conflict between you and your daughter-in-law hasn’t been resolved yet? If you go over, will she be upset and prevent your granddaughter from seeing you?"
"Humph, that child is a part of the Heath family’s bloodline. As a grandmother, I have every right to visit my own granddaughter. She has no right to stop ."
"That’s true."
The voices grew louder as they got closer to Joanna.
Joanna felt footsteps nearing from behind until they abruptly stopped.
"Eh."
"What’s wrong?"
"Oh, this lady here looks familiar. She looks sowhat like Madam White’s other daughter-in-law."
"Let have a look..."
A few seconds passed.
"Joanna Lawrence?" A voice called out tentatively. Before Joanna could respond, the people who had been standing behind her had moved to stand right in front of her.
It was Lady Octavia, dressed in a noblewoman’s attire.
After all, Joanna was her daughter-in-law.
Despite Joanna’s attempt to obscure her face, Lady Octavia recognized her with one glance.
Ever since Joanna was taken in by the White family, Lady Octavia didn’t bother to hide her dissatisfaction with Joanna’s family background, especially since Joanna always defended her best friend Aria, who Lady Octavia didn’t like.
The mont Lady Octavia recognized Joanna, her gentle expression imdiately changed.
While she wasn’t exactly frowning, her face certainly couldn’t be considered pleasant.
"Joanna Lawrence, it is you. What brings you here?"
Joanna glanced at Lady Octavia and then turned to look at Diana Kinsman standing behind her, before fixing her gaze back on Lady Octavia.
She hadn’t expected that Lady Octavia and Diana were still on friendly terms with each other.
Furthermore, it seed that their relationship was as amicable as ever.
Was Lady Octavia unaware of Diana’s covert challenge to the Heath Group?
Looking at her, it seed she had no idea.
"Mom, I ca to the baby store, obviously to buy so baby supplies." Joanna knew Lady Octavia was asking deliberately.
"Baby supplies? For whom? Aria Rowlett’s child?" Lady Octavia’s brows furrowed instantly at the ntion of Aria’s na, unable to conceal her distaste.
Seeing the stark disdain in Lady Octavia’s eyes, Joanna couldn’t help but co to her best friend’s defense, retorting sarcastically,"That child is also Brandon’s child and your own granddaughter. Why are you here browsing the baby store, Mom?"
Lady Octavia’s face froze at Joanna’s sharp retort. Just as she was about to respond, Diana Kinsman stepped in, linking her arm with Lady Octavia’s and said with a smile,"Madam White is here to buy so stuff for her granddaughter. And what a coincidence it is to et Ms. Joanna here!"
"The baby supplies that Ms. Joanna is buying are for Ms. Aria, right? Since it’s such a coincidence that we t, why don’t you help Madam White select the gifts? I’ve heard that you and Ms. Aria are great friends. You must know the likes and dislikes of Aria better than anyone, and would be able to pick out the perfect gift."
Joanna looked at Diana with a hint of distance in her eyes, and replied indifferently, "Miss Kinsman, you seem to be missing the mark."
