"Aim higher, Kat. I'll wrangle up its paws while Mom Chordeva captures most of its attention. We need to get a big blow in sooner rather than later..."
I nodded and sent another barrage of icicles crashing down across the lightning do that now surrounded the monster, its attempts at protecting itself from the ranged attacks failing far quicker than it had anticipated thanks to the combined efforts of Leone and I.
There was sothing about this being a fight between four of us and one of this monster that made wonder if this was ant to be harder than it currently was or if we were just firing on all cylinders in the right way at the right ti...
It was just sothing I couldn't help but think about as I watched that defensive do collapse, allowing three of my icicles to punch through the monster's thick fur and embed themselves into its shoulder, only to be shattered a mont later as the electricity that seed to be native to its body arced onto these new additions.
The ice that remained within the wound was burnt out not even a second later, and one of the hopes that we had been having for this fight continued to be denied as the monster cauterized any cuts it received, not letting its precious blood pour out onto the sand in waste.
There was no way it could know that the Vampire beside could wield Blood Magic, so the only explanation was that the monster understood that the red liquid running through its veins was vitally important to survival, and having an open wound that was pouring that liquid onto the ground ant an easier death.
As sad as it was that Leone couldn't make use of the monster's blood for her own magics, it didn't seem to matter all that much in the grand sche of this fight as Mom did everything in her power to occupy as much of the monster's attention as possible, ensuring we were free to do whatever from the backlines.
We were still dodging the random arcs of lightning that struck the sands around us, as well as the various sound based attacks that this Chira seed to have in abundance; its howls could beco different things, like a compressed blast that attempted to send Mom flying backwards or a barrier that deflected projectiles and dispersed mana.
Beneath the weight of our attacks the Chira was slowly whittled away, the power it showed in the beginning getting figured out by us and properly countered or dealt with, leaving it to just tank whatever was thrown its way as it waited for the inevitable.
It still deserved the respect of us warily attacking it and always keeping a healthy amount of energy reserved for whatever it might have in store when it got close to death, but the closer we got to that point the more I began to wonder if there was any chance it would have sothing of the sort.
The composition of our group was just too good for sothing like this, and the collective strength we had was probably above whatever the designers of this Trial were expecting; most like the strength Leone and I showed was what they had been keying it in for, but the appearance of soone like Mom was probably an outlier.
So, with little fanfare past the thunderous roars it unleashed, the Chira was given a death by a thousand cuts as we dealt with it efficiently, having Mom maintain and defend against its aggression while Leone and I attacked it from afar.
Once the strategy was found it was impossible for the monster to win, and with no secret or special move in sight the Gryphon-Wolf hybrid was brought to its knees and summarily executed, bringing us to the end of the tenth.
While it might have been rather uneventful after the opening encounter, Mom was still very pleased with it as she ca back, reeking of singed hairs and charred leather but completely unbothered as she just strolled over to the paper to look at the reward.
The Demoness had gotten her workout in, and considering the fact that this had been sowhat of a breeze - and considering both Leone and I had an abundance of mana still thanks to the potions - we were definitely considering the next wave.
Especially as Mom read off the paper and told us of what we had gotten for the last few minutes of domination; with that sa grin she said "Looks like we got ourselves... so kind of array that allows you to purify your bloodline so more. Presumably permanent, or at least stronger than the drops we got from before, Leone. And one that can be used by all of us."
"Oh, that is definitely an exciting reward~! Makes a little more curious about how much of an increase sothing like that would provide, y'know? Like how important is bloodline purity anyways? What does it provide?"
I already had an idea on what it could end up being - a heap of extrely incredible powers and buffs to people who don't need those things because they were already extrely powerful - but I was also curious about if Mom had heard anything more about it.
Was this sothing that was wide spread amongst the people at the top currently in our 'lower' world, or was it sothing that was lost from ti and only seen as sothing that equated to the race you were born from?
"Couldn't tell you. I know the Empress and her family knows about it, but for I've always been told it's just a... race thing. The natural benefits from each race are stronger in pure bloods than they are in mixed bloods, though there is very few 'pure' blooded people out there. Even Leone here isn't pure blooded. She just got lucky with potent blood from both sides."
I looked at the red skinned Vampire before turning towards Draka, who also shrugged as she said "My Dragon blood is strong, yes, but I am not an actual Dragon like my Mother is. As far as I am aware, it would only be possible for her and another Dragon to create a Dragon. I just have very strong blood that overwhelms whatever my other parent was."
"So it's just a mystery upgrade that we can't really quantify how important it is... still a nice reward though~! Let's get going onto the next wave, yeah? Maybe this one will actually be a challenge..."
Draka smiled wryly but still nodded in agreent as she watched the next wave start, taking her place behind us and muttering a prayer as the desert shook once more, all while the three of us prepared for what was to co with varying degrees of excitent.
