Shuffling through the papers, I let out a slight sigh as I was reminded of all the paperwork I had already done in a single lifeti, though as I filed these sheets way and grabbed a new stack I told myself this was different.
I an, these sheets were docunting the money and population that I was actually responsible for, whereas the paperwork I had been doing before had only ever really mattered to the greedy bastards getting fat off of my labor...
So this was different, but the motions were far too familiar... it got to the point that I was honestly getting sowhat sick - literally, I was feeling nauseous and unwell - the longer I stared at the papers, but I had to do it.
If it wasn’t done now I would have to do it later, and if I did it later then later would curse current before doing sothing that would really piss off even later ... because I really was that petty sotis, even to myself.
Slogging through the papers and getting it done also had the very welco effect of luring in my wives since they were searching for sothing to do as well, and after so many days of the sa they were beginning to yearn for these brief monts of respite more and more.
Jahi was the one that was surprisingly the most uncommon to co seek out, whilst Leone was the one coming to almost every other hour as she either showed off what she was doing or just sheepishly asked for a top up of my blood.
In the anti Anput was the most ’well adjusted’ of us all since her forging could take hours already and she definitely had sothing since she was so willing to lose herself to that without any desire to take a break.
All in all as the month closed out yet again on our city I felt really happy with everything, especially since I was now sitting in the office of my new business, which was nad ’Frostkiss Lounge’ thanks to all three of my wives deciding on a na for ...
It was currently empty and not seeing any use by anyone besides , but that was soon to change as I continued going over the various profiles of all of the potential candidates within the city.
The requirents were rather simple here; overly lustful, sowhat smart, capable of being refined, possessing so sort of skill - be it dancing, singing, waiting or anything else - and hoping to make good money whilst also being sowhat thick skinned.
I was well aware that if they were to be discovered as workers for a place like this they might end up being ridiculed or looked down upon, so hiring soone who would crumple beneath that societal pressure was certainly not worth it.
This was where my attention began to switch constantly between hyper focused and extrely bored as I read through the profiles one by one before sorting them into their respective piles... and having that sweet scent around didn’t help.
She wasn’t visible nor was she talking, but Cali was making it abundantly clear that she was taking a very keen interest in what I was doing and hoping to see what I was going to make of this, because her hope was to have sothing... entertaining yet ’rich’.
To have access to the most interesting and ’valuable’ people for her to feed off of from afar, all while continuing to pester constantly with the questions of immorality and unchained debauchery.

"Of course it’s generous, Lady Asmodia~! It is all thanks to you and this constant influx of goods that I have managed to secure myself quite a wonderful bounty of goods for myself! What is the saying..? You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours..?"
The pink skinned man gave a grin as he pushed a large, enchanted bottle back across the table, ensuring it sat in front of before getting up and making it ’impossible’ for to give it back to him.
"I understand very well that the influx of raw materials might be slowing down as you get things underway, however I am also anticipating the rise of processed goods coming out of Arx Amator, especially the potions and enchanted items~! Ooh... I also got word that the beautiful Lady Katherine might be operating a nice, cozy lounge for those of us with so coin?"
I stared at Mister DuMont for a few monts before sighing as I replied "She is, yes. It isn’t opening for a little while now though, however perhaps it will be opened the next ti you visit..? As for the goods we wish to make, it is only because of you and the other rchants that we can achieve such a swift entrance into those kinds of markets."
"Oh, you give us too much credit Lady Asmodia! You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink; you’ve heard that before, no? Just because we offer these sorts of things does not an that just anyone can make use of them properly... You have exceeded our expectations manyfold~!
I would say though that these coming months are far more testing then the previous two have been. Raw materials are easy to sell because they have a set market price and easily understood demand, but processed goods are different. Quality becos far more important, market variables change things drastically, and so much more falls onto your shoulders..."
"It is sothing I am prepared for, Mister DuMont, I promise. Now, since we are planning on growing more food to sustain this expansion effort, I am going to require so more help. You see, there is-"
The discussions I had to have with every single rchant was tiring, yet setting these puzzle pieces together and praying that it made the picture I wanted to see felt so satisfying whenever I finished.
Adding on all of the paperwork that I had always thought my Mom had summoned from thin air to look busy, I barely had the ti I wanted to exert my prowess like I used to, but at the sa ti I was enjoying stepping onto this new kind of ’battlefield’.
I definitely made sure to make the most out of the nightti though, because otherwise I was probably going to go insane... but with everything underway and the city growing at a steady pace, I was starting to feel... hungry for more.
For now I could only take little ’bites’, but perhaps there was a possibility for to do even more years down the line... and if I could manage to prove myself here, I might just be able to ’free’ Arx Amator from being beneath the Demon Clans and instead rise to be their equal instead.
