Anput PoV
"Co on, just one! Let have just one glass! Surely that wouldn’t do any harm to the baby, right? A single glass?"
My Mom just turned and handed the bottle off to one of her guards, who promptly vanished with it and took away my closest chance to getting a single drink before I actually was ’pregnant’; I know I was pregnant now but like... I couldn’t really tell, y’know?
"Anput, is there a need to take a risk for sothing so small? Besides, it isn’t just you that this would affect. Think about Princess Leone and how she would feel if sothing happens."
Of course she had a point, and I had obviously thought of that, but it didn’t make it any less grating to hear since all I wanted was just a single fucking drink while I watched all these people around get absolutely hamred.
I knew that I shouldn’t, and I knew that this was going to be a long stretch of no alcohol that would have quite irritated, but... hearing it didn’t help, even if I knew those things; Mom could tell that I was irritated, so she imdiately switched the subject, or at least tried to.
A man with impressive pearlescent wings stepped up to us both with a hesitant smile and a gleam in his green blue eyes, rubbing his hands together and bowing deeply before he said "I couldn’t help but overhear your discussion, and I believe I can help..."
"Help? Are you offering a glass of wine right in front of my Mom, who is very against that idea?"
The imdiate shaking of his head that was almost enough to cause his whole body to move side to side was sowhat amusing to , and the twitch of his gorgeous wings made reading his body language all the easier.
"So? Who are you and what is it that you can help with?"
Coughing and straightening himself up, the Aviankin man took a breath and said "My na is Ja Parroti, heir to the Parroti Emporium. Um, that likely ans nothing... anyways, I couldn’t help but overhear your predicant and I happen to have sothing to... alleviate this craving of yours.
My Mother - the Matriarch of the Emporium - likes to drink, and well... as a woman who had gone through multiple pregnancies, she spent a lot of money finding an alternative. It was a surprisingly open niche in the market that no one was looking to fill, so we-"
"I am certain this is a riveting tale of business intelligence that would go a long way in teaching a thing or two in regards to being a successful businesswoman, but please... cut to the chase please and thank you, Mister Parroti."
Coughing again and giving a sowhat strained smile, the man took a breath, cleared his throat and said "Well, we pioneered and created a recipe for a strong berry juice that has a similar ’punch’ to wine and a really nice, smooth flavor that is also quite similar to wine. If you would like I wouldn’t mind having a few barrels shipped here for free..?"
"A strong juice..? I suppose wine is quite literally just a strong juice, so... Tell you what, if you have a strawberry one then sure, send up a few barrels and I’ll give it a try. If I like it you might just have a few new custors, both in the Empire and outside of it."
His eyes widened while his wings flapped a few tis as he stared at in shock, like he couldn’t believe that his attempt at networking actually worked... which was amusing, so I laughed, though all that did was make him flinch..?
After a mont he bowed and then just fled, leaving Mom and I on the dais rather confused before we both just shrugged, deciding that this was... not the oddest thing to happen to us, but definitely up there.
"Ahem. Anyways, I think you should talk to your Mother about the exercises the Honored Physician had her perform during her pregnancy. They helped her imnsely with you, and they certainly were much appreciated by all parties involved long term too..."
I shook my head and tried to push that thought out of my mind as I stepped off of the dais, looking around and searching for one of my three wives to take away from these thoughts that really didn’t want to go away.
Especially not when I could hear the scratchy chuckle coming from Mom since she knew I was a bit too intrigued but not wanting to hear either of them explain this since it was put images into my mind that really shouldn’t be there...
Jahi didn’t help either since she was the first that I laid eyes on, and after barging through the crowd to get to her side I tugged on her sleeve and grabbed her attention whilst she was in the midst of drinking with a few hopeful Nobles and rchants.
Draining her glass and excusing herself, the Demoness walked with before raising a brow as I yanked her hand and placed it on my waist, making it clear I wanted a dance while we talked about a few things.
"So rchant was telling about this wine substitute that he and his family whipped up, so I got a few barrels."
Raising that brow a little higher, Jahi led slowly at the start before speeding up a little as we got accustod to the sowhat sloppy yet very upbeat music that was washing over the square; pressing myself against her and resting my head against her shoulder, I enjoyed the warmth of her against as we moved around whilst the conversation drifted from topic to topic.
The wine substitute, how much it might cost, why we needed barrels of it... sohow we got to the subject of the exercises that my Mother was going to teach , and that led to a very clear conclusion of us sneaking away for a few minutes to enjoy this night even more.
