Now, he finally understood the relationship between the three mbers of the Jiang Family and Lin Yifan, and why Lin Yifan brought them to the Kingdom of Leizhen; it was because of this little girl.
"Scram, scram, scram! You low-quality junk, how could you possibly beco my apprentice?" Lin Yifan said with disdain.
"Do you have to discourage people like this?"
"Then you compete with her. If you win, I'll take you as my disciple."
"Okay, it's a deal." Lei Ming agreed imdiately because he didn't believe he would lose to a five or six-year-old girl.
"How do we compete?"
"Let's see whose mory is better," Lin Yifan replied.
"That easy?"
"I'm afraid if it were any harder, you wouldn't be able to do it at all."
Lei Ming was completely convinced because the martial arts Lin had were very advanced, so of which he found extrely difficult to understand.
"Good! Then let's see whose mory is better."
Lin Yifan took out a Martial Arts Secret Manual, letting the two of them stand side by side and look at it for three minutes, then asked them to recite the page's content.
Three minutes passed in the blink of an eye; Lei Ming had just skimd it, and before he could attempt to recite, Lin Yifan closed the Manual.
"Lin, I just finished reading it, can you give a few more minutes?"
"This is a mory competition. Whoever recites more wins," Lin Yifan replied.
"Why didn't you say so earlier?"
"Is it my fault you're dumb?"
"No, no, we need to start again."
Faced with such an unreasonable request, to make Lei Ming lose convincingly, Lin Yifan reluctantly agreed.
A person with a slightly better mory matched against soone with a photographic mory—the outco is always the sa, so he wasn't afraid of Lei Ming not losing.
Opening the Martial Arts Secret Manual to another page, Lin Yifan again gave them three minutes.
This ti, Lei Ming only focused on the first part, completely ignoring the latter. In limited ti, morizing as much as possible was key.
Only this way could he have the utmost chance of winning.
Throughout, little Yuxi remained calm as still water, undisturbed by external influences or Lei Ming.
This was a test. She wanted to bring honor to her ntor and not tarnish his reputation.
Three minutes passed, Lin Yifan closed the Manual, then asked them to recite what they rembered.
This ti, Lei Ming seed full of confidence.
For face, he pretentiously said, "Little sister, you go first."
"Let the Third Prince go first. I'm afraid I might hurt the Prince's confidence afterward," little Yuxi replied.
"Oh, quite cocky! No wonder you're the apprentice of such an arrogant master," Lei Ming joked, glancing at Lin Yifan, continuing, "No worries, my inner strength is profound; I won't be easily defeated."
"Really want to go first?" little Yuxi inquired.
"A gentleman's word is his bond."
"Alright!"
Little Yuxi's lips curled into a sly smile, and she began reciting.
The first part Lei Ming listened with interest, but reaching the second part, he suddenly froze, astonished more and more.
Sa three minutes, this little girl rembered more than he did, which was beyond belief, and she seed to be reciting the entire page.
He couldn't stay calm any longer; his confidence took a massive blow.
"Hold on!" Lei Ming interrupted little Yuxi's recitation, requesting Lin Yifan, "Lin, can you flip to that page and let see?"
"What do you want to do?" Lin Yifan asked.
"I want to see if the content she's reciting from the back is accurate."
"Very accurate, not a single word missed," Lin Yifan authoritatively replied.
"Just let see," Lei Ming pleaded, really wanting to know if little Yuxi's ability surpassed his.
To make Lei Ming relent, Lin Yifan brought out the Martial Arts Secret Manual, flipped to that page for Lei Ming to inspect.
Little Yuxi continued reciting, while Lei Ming watched intently.
In the end, Lei Ming found out that little Yuxi really recited the whole page, word for word.
This was terrifying; in three minutes, how could she morize about a thousand words?
Moreover, the aning was extrely difficult to comprehend and even harder to morize; he couldn't fathom how little Yuxi accomplished it.
"How is it? Stunned?"
Seeing Lei Ming's incredulous expression, Lin Yifan teasingly asked.
"Impossible, absolutely impossible." Lei Ming looked dazed, shaking his head repeatedly as if faced with a setback or witnessing sothing unbelievable.
"It's not impossible. Losing is losing, just accept it!" Lin Yifan patted Lei Ming's shoulder, comforted and sighed.
Lei Ming was not willing to be trampled on by a little girl, so he suddenly accused Lin Yifan, scolding him for being unfair: "You cheated, she's your disciple, and your Martial Arts Secret Manual. She must have seen it and morized it already."
Faced with such unreasonable accusations, Lin Yifan could only use Lei Ming's material for the challenge: "Alright! Then take out your Martial Arts Secret Manual, and the two of you study it for three minutes, then recite it backward, how's that?"
"Sure!"
Lei Ming agreed imdiately, as he had morized most of his Martial Arts Secret Manual very well, even backward he would be faster and rember more than little Yuxi.
Though this approach was a bit crafty, if little Yuxi still beats him, then he would have nothing else to say.
Bringing out the Martial Arts Secret Manual, flipping to a page, they both examined it seriously.
Three minutes later, they resud the competition.
The question order remained the sa; little Yuxi went first.
Frankly, reciting backward is difficult for average or even extrely strong mory.
Forward, you can have a context, linking sentences, but backward is nonsense; many words and anings are unfamiliar, greatly testing the candidate's comprehension skills or rather purely their mory ability.
Little Yuxi's photographic mory imprinted the whole page, including the content, in her brain, so when reciting, it was like holding the answer, reciting from the back all the way to the front.
Lei Ming listened intently, but beca more surprised and shaken the more he heard.
Little Yuxi's fluid backward recitation was unimaginable to him, truly reciting accurately everything rembered in those three minutes, leaving no suspicion of cheating.
Now, he no longer dared to doubt little Yuxi's abilities; she truly had exceptional skills.
However, he didn't admit defeat, thinking he also could recite backward fluently.
Once little Yuxi finished, he imdiately started reciting.
The first part he rembered very thoroughly, so he recited quickly, but the farther he went, the less he could rember.
His mory captured the words themselves, and the order was forward; when reciting backward, he'd ponder whether the next word was indeed the correct one or sothing else.
