Chapter 1841: Chapter 1476

The Tiandu Grandmaster, when speaking, was noticeably more respectful than when mentioning [Mountain Lian], [Gui Hai], or even his own Master.

Evidently, this last “unspeakable” Saint Lord held great weight in his heart.

“The Immortal World is destroyed, saints are no longer saints.” Li Buren, ignorant hence fearless, coldly remarked.

The Grandmaster shook his head: “One is not saintly due to taking on responsibility; it is because one is saintly that one can bee a saint. The rise and fall of the Immortal World actually has little to do with the saints. If only the Master had understood this earlier, perhaps he could have lived longer.”

“If your Master knew you would say such things, he should have taken you with him when he fell in those years.”

Faced with Li Buren’s sharp words, the Grandmaster was rendered speechless.

He seemed to be lost in ancient memories because of these words.

“Your Master was one of the Four Immortal Saints, and you have served by his side for eons. Why is your cultivation still at the Half-Immortal stage now?”

Li Buren chatted with the Grandmaster about everything and nothing.

While probing for information, he also quietly used the Black Aura of Ink and Death to infiltrate the Grandmaster’s remaining true body.

The myriad Daoist Images previously swallowed by Li Buren held no memories, merely records of the Path of the Illusory Life Phantom.

Judging from the erosion of the Black Aura of Ink and Death during this casual talk, although the Grandmaster was only at the Half Immortal Realm, his body and Divine Soul seemed to be a perfect creation beyond existence, with no weaknesses to be found.

Indeed, he could be easily obliterated. However, to seize his soul and peer into his past…

That was not something Li Buren could acplish at the moment.

The Grandmaster seemed pletely unaware of Li Buren’s covert maneuvers.

“Mountain Lian shall eventually return to Gui Hai.”

“My Master and the other two Saint Lords have already proven this fact, so why would I repeat their mistakes?”

“Moreover, without my ‘Half-Immortal’ body, how could I have escaped the Great Calamity of the Immortal World’s destruction back then? This is the work of fate.” The Grandmaster was indifferent to Li Buren’s mockery.

“If it weren’t for your unexpected appearance, I would have undoubtedly taken that anticipated step.” The Grandmaster’s tone was somewhat wistful.

Li Buren intended to continue his derision to unsettle the Grandmaster, making the intrusion of the Black Aura of Ink and Death smoother.

The Tiandu Grandmaster, who had been questioned all along, suddenly flipped the script and asked: “Daoist, to be beyond the fate of Heaven and Earth, have you acquired that treasure?”

“Treasure? I don’t know what you are talking about.” Li Fan’s true self was inwardly shocked upon hearing this, but since Li Buren was merely an executor of Li Fan’s orders due to the suppression of his main consciousness, he responded quite naturally.

“Stop making excuses for your failures. Didn’t the King of Mystic Sky almost capture you alive ten thousand years ago? With just Half-Immortal cultivation, dealing with you didn’t require someone beyond the fate.” Li Buren responded with disdain.

The Grandmaster stared intently at Li Buren for a while, not detecting any flaws.

He then turned to look at the external Yuandao State and the Xuanhuang World.

After observing the utterly changed Xuanhuang World for a while, he finally said in a long tone: “Though I was secluded for just a moment, the outside world has already been overturned. Yet, intriguingly, none of the changes extend to the area of my enlightenment.”

“You were long on guard against me, yet this is clearly our first meeting…”

The Grandmaster slowly closed his eyes, silently contemplating something unknown.

“Isn’t the name of the Tiandu Grandmaster prominent enough in the Xuanhuang World?” Li Buren did not elaborate much, only replied simply with this line.

“You are certainly not of the Xuanhuang World. The Xuanhuang World, even this starry sky, is fated for those who existed, those who exist, and those who will be born. They are like chess pieces, sequentially stepping onto the board. Even with the additional variables from the Immortal World’s destruction, chess pieces remain as chess pieces, unable to transform into treasures…” The Grandmaster seemed to suppress some emotion within, speaking each word with great deliberation.

Li Buren squinted his eyes at these words.

A deluge of Black Aura of Ink and Death hovered like a dark cloud over the Grandmaster’s head, and around him, the myriad Daoist Images that had been swallowed cast intensely cold looks upon the Grandmaster.

No matter what the Grandmaster had guessed, Li Buren would not allow him to live any longer.

“My Master’s plan from those years truly was feasible.”

“What a pity it’s too late.”

The Tiandu Grandmaster, undeterred by the countless cold gazes surrounding him, suddenly opened his eyes wide and gazed back at Li Buren as if beholding some rare treasure.

“No! It’s not too late!”

“If I can…”

The Grandmaster, who had seemed resigned just moments before, was suddenly filled with an indescribable excitement.

A sudden surge of immense power expelled the Black Aura of Ink and Death from his body. The Taoist Robe on the Grandmaster fluttered without any wind, making a sharp noise.

“Everything can be salvaged.” The Grandmaster said intently, staring at Li Buren.

Surrounded by the countless Daoist Images controlled by Li Buren, the Grandmaster seemed instead to envelop Li Buren and the others.

In an instant, the balance of power was inverted, overwhelming and looking down from above.

Li Buren realized that even though the myriad Daoist Images around had been controlled by his Black Aura of Ink and Death, before the Grandmaster, they couldn’t help but bow down.
