Because reflected in her eyes, a blue-white beam suddenly appeared from Raine’s side, directly hitting the sticky web.
What followed was a large area of white frost spreading, causing the originally sticky and highly resilient web to instantly beco brittle.
"Boom!"
Raine easily shattered the brittle web and quickly dashed out from under its cover, delivering a fierce blow to the back of the Deep Moss Spider.
"Smack thud!"
The hamr ca crashing down and suddenly pierced the Deep Moss Spider’s unguarded back.
"Ssss~"
The Deep Moss Spider imdiately scread in agony!
What!
Laisa’s eyes slightly widened, her heart startled.
Initially, she noticed Raine’s shield bearing was extrely skilled, which led Laisa to quickly conclude that the intelligence from the organization might be wrong, thinking he was a Warrior Apprentice.
After all, the equipnt on him was considered excellent even among Official Warriors.
But the magic Raine just unleashed made Laisa realize she had made an initial wrong judgnt.
The young man before her, holding a black shield, wearing thick plate armor, and donning a horned helt, was indeed a Mage Apprentice!
’Such a devious fellow!’
Yet before she could finish complaining, suddenly, Laisa inwardly cried out that things were not looking good.
Because amidst the battle, she got distracted for a mont, and her foot got tripped up by a small spider’s corpse. Although she quickly adjusted and didn’t fall, a scythe-like black limb swished past her side.
Her shoulder was lightly grazed, revealing a slight scratch on her smooth skin, from which a thin line of bright red blood flowed out.
The problem was, the originally bright red blood was quickly starting to darken!
"Damn it!"
This made Laisa’s face turn grim.
She had planned to lead the Death Wolf Spider behind her on a chase while observing Raine’s situation.
Once he was deeply engaged in battle, she would quickly withdraw, allowing the Death Wolf Spider to return, thus creating a scenario where two Demon Spiders would besiege him.
But unexpectedly, this unforeseen situation occurred.
With a flick of her toe, Laisa began to show her real skills, running forward like a gale for several steps, and then seized the opportunity to take out a bottle of green liquid and gulped it down.
This was a Strong Antidote, which generally has a good effect on the toxins of low-level demons.
"Shadow Step!"
Suddenly, Laisa’s form vanished from the Death Wolf Spider’s view.
This left the Death Wolf Spider sowhat puzzled for a mont, gradually halting its pursuit to look around.
Laisa had already utilized Shadow Step, hiding in a passage corner near the cave entrance, quietly observing the Death Wolf Spider’s reaction.
’Ti to go back, stop chasing !’
’Your mate is about to be killed, hurry back!’
As Laisa watched the Death Wolf Spider murmuring.
A round figure appeared outside the cave.
Another black-green Deep Moss Spider was intermittently sensing sothing in the air with its limbs and moving quickly from outside the cave towards the cave entrance, repeatedly.
As it appeared at the cave entrance, the male Deep Moss Spider imdiately discovered Laisa hiding at the corner.
Practically at the sa ti, Laisa also sensed the rustling sound coming from behind, quickly turned her head, and saw this suddenly appearing second Deep Moss Spider!
"Oh my!"
"How co there’s another one!" In an instant, Laisa’s face drastically changed.
However, she seed to realize sothing and imdiately showed a look of understanding.
The Deep Moss Spider before her was obviously a circle smaller than the one inside the cave.
Which ans the one deep inside the cave should be female, and the one before her is male.
Demon Spiders tend to engage in mating with one female and multiple males.
When a female releases pheromones, several males will co to mate, and after mating, the males quickly flee to avoid being eaten.
But the previous male Death Wolf Spider was different; its combat power surpasses the female Deep Moss Spider, hence, it wasn’t afraid of being eaten and engaged in repetitive mating.
That’s why she saw the Death Wolf Spider yesterday and it still hadn’t left today.
The new male Deep Moss Spider, sensing the pheromones, actively ca over.
Thus, creating the scenario before her.
"Really damn it!"
But the problem was, she had just used Shadow Step and couldn’t use it again in a short ti.
aning, at this crucial mont, the suddenly appearing male Deep Moss Spider had not only blocked her way out but also might very well trap her in a besieged situation!
"Ssss ssss~"
The Deep Moss Spider imdiately launched an attack on Laisa.
At this mont, Laisa didn’t even know what to say anymore!
She didn’t even know how many tis she cursed ’Damn it!’ on this day.
Originally, she intended for the target, Raine, to be besieged, yet now, the tables have completely turned.
Right now, she’s under siege!
Because she sensed movent from behind, the Death Wolf Spider that had already turned around now spun back again. The mont it saw Laisa’s figure, its six single eyes seed to light up instantly.
It also rushed towards Laisa at lightning speed.
And Laisa, forced to exert herself fully, suddenly exploded with extrely strong attack power.
"Gale Step!"
Laisa danced like a butterfly between the Death Wolf Spider and the male Deep Moss Spider. For a mont, although the two Demon Spiders could lock onto Laisa, their movents couldn’t quite keep up.
Due to the extrely powerful toxicity of the Death Wolf Spider, Laisa’s attacks were mainly focused on it.
"Swoosh! Swoosh!"
The dagger repeatedly pierced the chitinous shell near the mouthparts of the Death Wolf Spider, forcing it to retreat continuously with incessant hissing.
’Whoosh,’ Laisa sidestepped to the side of the Death Wolf Spider, kicked the rock wall with her left leg, and suddenly appeared directly above the Death Wolf Spider. Her dagger traced a black arc.
It sharply plunged into the Death Wolf Spider’s back shell!
"Thud!"
"Hiss~~"
Having suffered a harsh backstab from Laisa, the Death Wolf Spider was clearly severely injured.
Just as Laisa was planning to push forward further and eliminate the Death Wolf Spider before her, suddenly, a mass of sticky and tough white webbing was about to envelop her from the front.
Even though Laisa struggled to dodge, she was still ensnared around her legs.
The sensation as if stepping in a swamp, coupled with the fierce gusts hitting from front and back, made Laisa realize sothing was terribly wrong.
Suddenly, a yellow light enveloped her whole body, and fine gravel swirled around like armor.
At the sa ti, a familiar and unexpected voice sounded:
"Need a hand?"
Swiftly, Laisa turned her head to look.
She saw an unknown, strong figure appearing in front of her, like a wall, blocking her from the male Deep Moss Spider.
Behind the strong figure, the Female Priest from the Earth Divine Hall whom she called ’little sister,’ was smiling sweetly at her.
Stunned, Laisa continued to look and saw the cow-size corpse of the female Deep Moss Spider lying still on the cave floor.
Evidently, Raine had already taken down the female Deep Moss Spider.
’Damn! How could he be faster than !’
Laisa’s eyes widened, her lips slightly parted, as such a thought suddenly raced through her mind.
At the sa ti, a sense of absurdity welled up within Laisa.
She had been thinking about how to take him down, yet he had just saved her in her mont of peril.
"Scratch~~"
As the sharp forelegs of the male Deep Moss Spider clashed fiercely against the Black Shield in Raine’s hand!
This filled Laisa’s gaze towards Raine with complex emotions.
As a remnant of the Sand Race, adhering to agreents and clear distinctions between gratitude and grievance has always been Laisa’s life principle.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t knowingly continue completing this final mission despite knowing the organization had issues.
But the problem was facing the mission target before her, who extended a hand in her crisis mont; can she truly bring herself to strike?
Unlike previous missions she carried out.
Previously, she was always able to find the target sowhat unsavory.
But this ti it’s different, both the target individual and that Miss Priestess seed to possess a kind of humanistic brilliance, radiating a warmth.
This left her at a loss for a mont on what to do.
....
Two seconds prior.
Deep within the cave.
Elise exclaid softly, "Mr. Rein, look over there!"
After swinging his hamr one last ti, Raine imdiately turned to look.
Following Elise’s direction, he saw under the cave’s illuminating entrance, a graceful figure being besieged dangerously by two cow-size Demon Spiders from front and back.
’How’s there another one?’ That was Raine’s first thought.
’Do I help or not?’ That was the second thought.
"Mr. Rein, let’s quickly go to help!"
Actually, without Elise’s reminder, Raine had already decided to lend a hand to this temporary teammate.
As soone with the right values, when able to assist and not endangering oneself, watching coldly as a fellow being dies in front of him, Raine doubted he could do it.
As for whether this temporary teammate would suddenly betray or feign injury, Raine thought such possibilities if existed, were no cause for panic.
Because up till now, he also retained plenty of backup plans and trump cards.
So, that rescue scene had just unfolded before Laisa’s eyes.
But at the sa mont.
No one present noticed that Laisa’s armguard-covered mark seed to flash consecutively, responding to her intense internal emotions.
