Shen Sui looked at An Hai being so cautious, and really wanted to remind him that this ti his build was a pure [Puppet] card set, without so many weird things.
"My turn is over."
After so fuss, An Hai finally finished setting up the field and ended his turn.
He had a total of four Follower Cards and three covered cards on the field, which could be said to be a very standard endga for a Beast Taming Card Set.
And these four Followers were all extrely strong.
"Your endga..." Shen Sui’s mouth twitched slightly as he looked at An Hai’s endga, "Isn’t it a bit too much?"
[Buried Dragon Bone Rose], once per turn, can be activated by paying three thousand Life Value, destroying all cards on both sides of the field.
This Follower was also used by An Hai in their last duel, a very powerful board clear card, and this effect could be activated during the opponent’s turn.
[Holy Rose Lu Ya], this should be considered another powerful form of An Hai’s Soul Card Lu Ya, during either main phase, if the opponent activates a card effect, and the activated card is the first card of that type this turn, its effect is negated, a very annoying restrictive Follower, also nicknad by people as Underworld Rose.
[Thorny Rose·Wall Flower], as long as this Follower is on the field, the opponent must choose this Follower as the attack target, if this Follower is destroyed by battle, the opponent draws three cards and imdiately ends the current turn.
These three cards combined basically ford An Hai’s most standard endga setup.
Using a restrictive Follower to limit your expansion and effect resolution, using another Follower to stop you from clearing the board through battle, and then a [Buried Dragon Bone Rose] to flip the table when necessary.
This first-turn setup is considered very classic, and because it’s classic, although the Followers inside might change, the types of effects are more or less the sa.
In their last duel, the card that restricted Shen Sui from clearing the board through battle wasn’t [Thorny Rose·Wall Flower], but [Dragon Shield Rose·Bai Ling], which An Hai had adjusted to counteract Life Cards with the ’Dragon’ keyword, such as [Dragon Race’s Friendship].
The last Follower on An Hai’s field, [Cultivated Rose Rootstock], was only a 1-star Follower, but its effect was extrely powerful: when either player’s turn begins, it must be activated, banishing a [Rose] or [Rose] Follower from one’s graveyard, and until the end of that turn, as long as this Follower remains on the field, neither player can Special Summon Followers.
This card was obviously what An Hai used to prevent Shen Sui from using his Follower as fish food.

An Hai considered this field setup to be the limit of what he could do with this starting hand; to complete the last piece of the puzzle, he spent a lot of effort and money to get the final [Cultivated Rose Rootstock].
Limiting effect activation, limiting battle resolution, restricting special summons, and flipping the table when necessary.
However, even at this stage, An Hai didn’t think his field was unsolvable, because it was still missing a [Seven-Colored Rose·Xiaoqi].
If this Follower was on the field, it could also negate two of Shen Sui’s card effects, providing the ultimate restriction against Shen Sui, after all, the restriction effect of [Holy Rose Lu Ya] had a lot of loopholes to exploit.
However, the [Bound Holy Artifact Puppet·Naphitaya] lying in Shen Sui’s graveyard prevented him from doing so, because if he actually summoned Xiaoqi, the Holy Artifact Puppet would release all Followers on his field at the start of Shen Sui’s turn, and all his efforts would be in vain.
[Cultivated Rose Rootstock] may prevent Shen Sui from Special Summoning, but it activates at the start of the turn as well, and according to the rules of Life Card Duel, the effect of the turn owner activates first at the sa timing, aning the Holy Artifact Puppet’s Special Summon occurs before [Cultivated Rose Rootstock]’s timing, leaving him no way to restrict this card’s Special Summon.
What a pity, who would have thought that in trying to prevent Shen Sui from hand-trapping, he ended up helping Shen Sui set up a Holy Artifact Puppet to counter him instead.
