Before I knew it, it’s already ti for the launch.
This is my first ti writing a launch speech at Qidian, so it feels like I’ve filled a gap in my life (laughs).
This book isn’t quite in the perfect state I envisioned. Initially, I planned for the Soul Card World dungeons to be explored by the protagonist personally, not just described in words like now.
But I’m aware of my own shortcomings. If I were to write according to my initial idea, the span between two duels would be too long, and my ability to write dungeons is quite lacking. I couldn’t possibly capture that "amber-flow adventure" feeling. So, I referred to a simulator-like writing style, which led to its current form. It’s a compromise on my part, but at least it’s more interesting than drawing out a lengthy dungeon in clumsy words.
Alice’s character is indeed a little rascal because I wrote her based on my imaginary grown-up daughter. A girl who can freely choose her own life with a strong father always behind her. But it seems I didn’t manage to convey the feeling I imagined.
Actually, I’m just a card ga enthusiast, not a true card pro. Although I’ve dabbled in many card gas, I haven’t really mastered any. To this day, I’m still wrestling with AI opponents in YGO, and my grasp of various timings and rules isn’t always clear.
So, I consciously gave up on writing fandoms like Yu-Gi-Oh or Shadowverse and decided to create my own rules to write about card dueling.
As long as the rules are mine, the final say is in my hands. If readers find a bug in the duel, I can imdiately change the card’s effect (laughs).
In fact, I’ve revised the first duel more than twenty tis because I initially forgot to shuffle the deck after a search.
And then cos the updating.
The launch is scheduled for noon tomorrow, so tomorrow’s update will be after noon, with five Chapters on the launch day (possibly two updates at noon and three in the evening).
As a struggling worker with only one day off, I have to take care of my months-old daughter at night. My writing ti is severely compressed. Since I ran out of saved drafts in mid-July, I’ve been sleeping only four to five hours every day to rush out 4,000 words of daily updates, and I can only do a slight burst update on Sundays.
To be honest, after half a month, my body is starting to give out, and my brain is getting duller, falling into the vicious cycle of not being able to think of the plot due to lack of sleep, then forcing myself to stay up late to get the daily update done and then losing more sleep.
Personally, I feel that the quality of updates over the past half month has declined due to this vicious cycle, but I’ll make adjustnts moving forward.
For the first month post-launch, my plan is to update 6,000 words daily. If I have the ability, I’ll try to see if I can go up to 8,000 words daily and 10,000 words on Sundays. If a month later, my body can handle it, I’ll continue; if not, I’ll have to revert to 4,000 words daily. I apologize for this.
