lody Thorne opened the door to the private room and walked out. Just then, she received a call and answered, "Hello."
"Miss, when exactly are you going to send over the money?" The man’s voice on the other end was tinged with a bit of a sob.
"Didn’t I already send it over?" lody Thorne frowned and hailed a taxi to leave.
"When was that?" The person on the other end was really crying. The key issue was that the man behind him, radiating layers of cold fury, was staring at him. If he delayed any longer, would he even get to keep his life?
lody Thorne sneered, "Is there a man with you who’s been urging you to call ?"
"Yes," the man glanced back, then quickly turned his head around, his spine straightened, cold sweat pouring.
"That’s right then," lody Thorne chuckled, "That’s my husband. Actually, we’re having a quarrel, and he’ll cover that one thousand bucks."
"......"
The man turned back, his legs shaking, dropped the phone, and bolted. It would be good enough to just keep his life; who would still dare to ask for money!!
Jared Quinn picked up the phone from the ground, "lody Thorne!"
"I heard you. Can you pay the money for ? The person has it hard," lody Thorne said sweetly, curling her lips with a playful tone.
Jared Quinn: "..."
"Oh, one more thing—I forgot to remind you that there’s still four hours to go, keep it up!" She hung up the phone.
The tone on the other side was as arrogant as could be—sweet and soft.
"Shit," Jared Quinn cursed under his breath, and the phone in his hand was reduced to fragnts.
lody Thorne soon arrived at the hospital. After asking the receptionist for Caleb’s room number, she took the elevator up and found the room, pushing open the door.
Inside was pitch black, hardly anything could be seen. She reached out and felt along the wall, intending to turn on the light.
But...the more she felt around, the more it seed off. It felt like layer upon layer, like a wall’s bulwark. lody Thorne frowned, "Are these hospital walls supposed to be so elaborately designed?"
The object she touched radiated a chillingly bright glow from its cold eyes, looking down to stare.
When lody Thorne sensed that sothing was amiss, she turned to run, only to have a pair of large hands suddenly grab her. The room’s lights flickered on in an instant.
She lifted her eyes and looked up...
The man above her had skin whiter than a woman’s, with deep and well-defined facial features. His hair was a bit ssy, exuding an icy arrogance with a hint of noble grace. He was clad in hospital attire, fine beads of sweat on his forehead.
Without the mix of colors on his face and the tattered clothes, he exuded a touch of noble rakishness.
Especially that face, which could surely outshine the world itself—cold and handso.
"Did you kill that fool?" was lody Thorne’s first reaction.
Caleb’s face darkened as he released her, fastening up the hospital gown revealing his abs, and sneered coldly, looking at her with a playful gaze. "Enjoyed touching just now, huh?"
"Not that enjoyable," lody Thorne shook her hand, grabbed a tissue to wipe it, and tossed it in the trash can. "I thought you’d be unconscious in a hospital bed right now. Seems I worried too much."
"Did you co all the way here in the middle of the night just to check on ?" Caleb tilted his head, then placed one hand beside her, looking down with a slightly hoarse voice. "Should I thank you for thinking of at a ti like this?"
"Hmm... Just go burn so incense and pray to Buddha," lody Thorne replied as she slipped out from under his arm.
Caleb’s eyes lingered on her intently.
lody Thorne stared back at him, noticing the hint of pallor on his face as she stated her reason for coming tonight. "Be wary of The Adler Family, and don’t get involved in things you shouldn’t."
