Caleb’s expression remained unchanged, as if he hadn’t noticed any woman getting into his car. "Do you think you did sothing today that could satisfy ?"
"Aren’t you satisfied?" Sheryl Lancaster admired herself in the mirror contentedly, putting away her lipstick. "You have to know that delaying Jared Quinn isn’t that easy. What now? I’ve helped you stall for so long, yet you couldn’t accomplish what you wanted? Or is it because Mr. Caleb’s abilities..." Unacceptable.
Before Sheryl Lancaster could finish her sentence, a thick stack of photos was thrown at her left cheek, ssing up the lipstick she had just applied.
"What are you doing?" Sheryl Lancaster scread, clutching her painfully stricken right cheek with her right hand. But when she looked down at the photos, the pain in her heart was even greater than the pain on her face.
The photos showed Jared Quinn leaving the company at specific tis and appearing at the hospital at specific tis, tightly holding lody Thorne...
"No, it can’t be," Sheryl Lancaster scread, gripping the photos tightly. "He was supposed to be in a eting! He was in a eting the whole ti."
"A eting?" Caleb revved the engine, speeding the car to its limit, a cold smirk playing at his lips. "Miss Lancaster, you don’t even know if he was in a eting, yet you vainly try to win his heart and seduce him. You’re probably the most pitiful and foolish woman I’ve ever seen!"
Sheryl Lancaster squeezed her eyes shut hard, realizing she’d been played by Leon Rivers and another man.
"Can’t even handle such a trivial matter? Miss Lancaster, maybe you should check if your IQ is sufficient!"
"Screech—" The tires screeched against the ground, making an ear-piercing noise as the car ca to a stop. Outside was a desolate wilderness, with wild vegetation.
"Or has he promised you sothing?"
Each word from Caleb made Sheryl Lancaster’s face turn even paler. She initially thought Jared Quinn’s attitude toward her had changed today, but he hadn’t even given her a second thought.
"Don’t worry, I will..."
"Get out of the car!"
Sheryl Lancaster clenched her hands but still got out of the car.
"Rember, next ti use your brain," Caleb’s car drove past her without any pause.
Only after the car sped off did Sheryl Lancaster realize her location was in the middle of nowhere, not a soul in sight, surrounded by barren hills and several graves...
"Argh," Sheryl Lancaster scread in rage.

In the hospital room, Finn Thorne had not yet woken up.
lody Thorne took out the handgun Caleb had given her from the hospital room where she changed clothes today. Looking at the model on the gun, she searched the dostic handgun models on her phone, but she couldn’t find the one she had.
Even if Caleb had been playing dumb, how did he manage to get such a handgun?
lody Thorne, as if possessed, dialed the number her father had left her before. Her father had said she could treat the person on the other end like an omnipotent robot who would answer any questions she asked.
So she decided to give it a try.
After dialing, there was no response from the other side.
