Jared’s woman, even if she has to die, she’ll die with him.
"What a show," Titus thought as he stared at the computer screen showing the scene from an obscure spot beside the mountain by the tunnel.
lody Thorne didn’t let him down. She’s Jared Quinn’s Achilles’ heel. Once he captures her, won’t Jared be at his rcy?
People, the thing they fear most is having a weakness.
"Unbelievable, such deep feelings," Titus mused, rubbing his chin. "How co he wasn’t so soft-hearted before, never so deeply involved, able to watch his closest kin die before his eyes? What’s changed now? Has this stone-hearted person grown a tender side?"
"Snap," he set the tir to the last minute. The drama had just begun; how it unfolds depends on them.
"Mm... mm," lody’s eyes were wide with terror, watching the ti drop from three minutes to one, death creeping ever closer.
"Mm..." lody wanted to speak, to open her mouth.
She didn’t want to die with Jared.
Not die with him.
Thirty seconds and counting.
Jared had four wires in his hand, all identical in red; specially set up, all of them could very well detonate the bombs.
He didn’t have ti to make a judgnt.
"lody," Jared stood, ripping off the tie bound around her mouth, pulling her into his arms, "I’m sorry..."
"Go, Jared, go," lody suddenly pushed him away.
The ropes binding her to the wall snapped just then, but the wires wrapped around her body remained intact.
"lody," Jared tried to grab her arm, wanting to hold her tightly...
lody dodged his grasp, running to the other side of the tunnel.
"Beep," just as she ran two steps away, the tir on her body emitted a final beep, and all the numbers returned to zero. lody shut her eyes, bracing for the explosion to tear her apart, but after waiting a few seconds, no explosion occurred.
lody looked down, tearing off the tid explosive device from her body along with the wires.
Everything that happened seed like soone playing a prank on them.
The wires were fake, and the tid bomb was fake too.
Yet she slled the scent of explosives.
Yes, they buried explosives, but perhaps they couldn’t be detonated remotely or tid. Could they?
"Jared," lody turned back.
At that mont, the man behind her had eyes blazing with furious flas. She’d just pushed him away and endangered herself by running off.
Like she said, even in death, she didn’t want to die with him!
"Jared," a thin veil of mist clouded lody’s eyes. At the last mont facing death, she understood.
A man willing to die with her, even if he hadn’t said he loved her, his actions said it all.
lody lunged toward Jared, her hands wrapping firmly around his neck, "Let’s get out quickly, get outside, there are real explosives here. I watched them bury it with my own eyes, let’s go."
Jared caught her body as she lunged, tempted to give her a good scolding, but now they had to leave.
