Butler "..." Impressive, my young master.
On the big bed.
When lody Thorne woke up, it was already dark outside. She got out of bed and searched everywhere for Jared Quinn, inside and out, but couldn’t find him.
"Where’s Jared Quinn?" lody Thorne asked as she stepped out of the room, each step causing her legs to ache.
A wounded patient had actually tornted her like this.
"Study," the butler gestured toward the study, his expression sowhat hesitant to speak.
The door to the study was closed. lody Thorne pushed it open easily and entered. Jared Quinn was sitting at the desk, focused on sothing, his brows perfectly shaped like sword peaks, furrowed as if about to erupt in anger, his aura quite cold.
But he was utterly engrossed.
"Jared Quinn," lody Thorne approached, her eyes about to gaze at what Jared Quinn was looking at.
"Pa" the book was slamd shut, she only caught a glimpse of a few big characters on the cover.
"Financial Law"
"You’re reading this again?" lody Thorne rounded the desk, reaching out to reopen the book.
What’s the big deal about reading, why such a strong reaction?
Jared Quinn’s large hand pressed down on the book, his other arm encircling her waist, locking her firmly in his embrace.
"Why won’t you let look?" lody Thorne frowned, her good-looking brows furrowed. The more he prevented her, the more her eyes lit up staring at the book.
"Look later, let’s eat first," Jared Quinn said impassively, embracing her as they walked out, the study door closing tightly behind them.
Downstairs, the butler had the kitchen remake the dishes. He noticed the young master’s current thoughts; previously, the dining table was filled with Jared Quinn’s favorites, now half was, and the other half was lody Thorne’s favorites.
"Has Timmy already eaten?"
ntioning Timmy, the butler recalled how Timmy waited all afternoon for lody Thorne to co downstairs, but eventually, even the cucumber salad grew cold, his heart likely grew cold too, as he returned to his room, probably already asleep now.
"Yes, ma’am, no need to worry. Young master Timmy has already eaten."
"Jared," Leon Rivers and Harold Chapman walked in simultaneously from outside, their expressions serious.
"You eat first," Jared Quinn’s large hand ruffled lody Thorne’s hair, encouraging her to eat on her own.
He still had things to discuss with Leon Rivers and Harold Chapman.
"Wait, wait," lody Thorne called out, sprinting to the dining table, grabbing a bowl of rice, and filling it with Jared Quinn’s favorite dishes, then returned to Jared Quinn’s side, "I’m going with you."
Leon Rivers "... Sister-in-law, we have matters to discuss. It’s better if you stay downstairs and eat."
"I want to follow and hear what you’re going to discuss. What? You have an opinion?" lody Thorne raised her gaze at Leon Rivers, her look quite unfriendly.
If Leon Rivers dared to block her today, she looked like she was ready to fight him.
"Since when do I have to listen to you?" Jared Quinn cast a cool look over, his large hand already embracing lody Thorne’s shoulder, coaxing her, "Go ahead, if you want to go, then go."
Oh my gosh! So much affection!
"Let’s go, let’s go," Harold Chapman grabbed Leon Rivers’ arm, pulling him upwards. In situations like this, they needed to be accustod; after all, these two had already been through thick and thin together, rivalling even them as brothers.
Study.
Leon Rivers and Harold Chapman sat opposite the desk, while lody Thorne sat beside Jared Quinn.
Leon Rivers’ expression was consistently twitching; this woman even ran to the study to eat, obviously interfering with their discussion.
