Thinking about it made her heart ache for a mont. In the past life, she was willing to do anything for him, enduring everything out of deep love, yet he never once looked back at her.
And then there was Sheryl Lancaster who visited the Quinn Family, shaming her in front of many of the Quinn Family’s servants, calling her a slut and saying her family went bankrupt yet she still clung to Jared Quinn.
"Long ti no see."
"And who might this be?" lody Thorne stepped out from behind Jared Quinn, wrapping her arms around his.
Upon seeing lody Thorne appear from behind Jared, Sheryl Lancaster’s eyes turned cold, her expression changed as she disdainfully said, "Jared, why did you bring her out too?"
"Because I’m his sweetheart," lody replied quietly, saying it as if it were perfectly natural, with confidence, without any embarrassnt or guilt.
After all, when acting, it doesn’t matter if it’s cheesy; what’s most important is that it feels real.
Jared Quinn lowered his deep, bright gaze to look at her, his brow twitching slightly — ’sweetheart’ was quite a term for a woman to say so easily.
"What sweetheart!" Sheryl Lancaster’s face darkened.
"Of course, his little sweetheart," lody replied with a smile, kindly returning her remark.
"You—" Sheryl glared at her in anger, her entire face turning a shade of green. lody, who wasn’t even counted as Jared’s woman, had such audacity to call herself his little sweetheart.
"Sheryl, quickly invite Mr. Quinn to take a seat," the Lancaster parents inside the hall recognized things were getting tense and imdiately interjected.
Sheryl forced down her rage, moving to Jared’s other side. "Mr. Quinn, let’s go inside."
"Let’s go."
Once inside, Jared sat down as expected, and Sheryl naturally took her seat beside him. Hector Lancaster and Mrs. Lancaster each took a side, leaving only four seats, none for her, leaving her standing.
Sheryl glanced triumphantly at lody standing there, maliciously attempting to embarrass her. "Oh, I’m sorry, there are only four chairs here. Maybe you can stand for a while? We happen to be short one person to serve drinks and food."
The banquet was attended by many, including Timothy and his friends,
Though aware that there were collaborations to discuss between Jared Quinn and the Lancaster family, they sat at the side.
Seeing Sheryl attempting to make things difficult for lody, and given Jared’s recent changes, Timothy pulled a chair over. "Sister-in-law, why don’t you sit beside us first?"
Hearing the words sister-in-law, lody turned back and glared at him, thinking he might as well have called her by na.
With a frosty gaze, she looked at the chair Timothy pulled over and pretended to scold, "The Lancaster family is surely well-versed in etiquette, a reputable family, with dignity and decorum. No matter what, I ca with Jared Quinn. Miss Lancaster was just joking earlier. Do you think they would actually lack a chair and behave in such an undignified, impolite manner, lacking noble conduct?"
Timothy swallowed, almost bursting into laughter. Quietly, he retracted the chair and thought to himself that lody would never let herself be bullied. She could handle things with just a few words.
Hector and Mrs. Lancaster felt as though they were being slapped across the face by lody’s words, with their expression shifting slightly. It was obvious that she implied the Lancaster family didn’t understand etiquette and lacked manners and upbringing.
Sheryl also heard clearly when Timothy called lody sister-in-law. She glanced towards Jared, noting his increasingly cold expression, and gritted her teeth as she stood.
