The next day, before the sun had even risen, Zac and Marty stood on the platform of llow City Railway Station, waiting for their train.
Since it was very early, the station was relatively quiet, with only a few travelers seen moving around with sleepy faces.
Marty looked at the ticket in his hand for what felt like the hundredth ti. "I still can’t believe it."
"What?" Zac asked.
"That you actually got a spot in one of the top five academies."
Zac simply smiled at that comnt.
"Seriously, dude, how did you do it? Every year, only three or four hundred people get accepted into those academies."
He pointed at himself. "And sohow I’m one of them."
[Look at that. Your first fan.]
Zac ignored the System. "Let’s just say I know so people."
[Why not just say it was because of your ’sugar mommy’.]
"Absolutely not he would just freak out if I said the vice principal is my relative and she is not my ’sugar mommy,’ more like my ’bitter devil.’"
"So, what did your parents say?" Zac asked Marty.
"At first? They were happier than I was. Jumping around the house and celebrating like it was their anniversary."
"But when I started packing my stuff...they started crying. Being their only child, seeing leave wasn’t easy for them."
Zac nodded. "Yeah. It must have been hard for them."
"What about your family? Your mom must’ve cried all night, right?"
"Actually, no."
"No?"
Zac scratched the back of his head. "It’s not like they’re going to stay here for long."
"What do you an?"
"Oh, right. I forgot to tell you. My mom and Carrie are coming to Central City next month."
Marty’s eyes widened. "Seriously? Can you even afford that? I heard rent in Central City is ridiculously expensive."
"I wouldn’t worry about that."
Before Marty could ask another question, the loud sound of a train horn echoed throughout the station.
POOOONG!
The train slowly entered the platform.
"That must be our ride."
Both of them grabbed their bags and started walking toward their assigned compartnt. Just as Zac stepped onto the train, a familiar voice suddenly echoed inside his head.
[New information unlocked.]
Zac paused. "That’s rare."
[-50 Info Points.]
"What? The hell? I didn’t agree to that."
[I don’t care.]
"You’re a scam."
[And yet you keep using my services.]
"Fine. What’s the information?"
[Two hired killers are currently following the host. Be cautious.]
The smile disappeared from Zac’s face; he imdiately looked around, scanning across the station.
"Are they after or both of us?"
[Additional information costs 20 Info Points.]
"You really know how to make people hate you."
[-20 Info Points.]
[The targets are limited to the host. Your friend has nothing to do with this.]
"Good." That was all Zac needed to hear.
"Marty."
"Hmm?"
"How long until the train leaves?"
"About fifteen minutes."
"Perfect." Zac imdiately turned around. "You go find our seats. I’ll be back before the train leaves."
"Wait, where are you going?" But before he could finish speaking, Zac had already disappeared into the crowd.
Five minutes later.
Zac entered the n’s restroom near the far end of the station. Since there was not that much of a crowd, finding the two n tailing him wasn’t difficult.
The mont they saw him enter the restroom, both assassins exchanged glances and followed him inside.
The restroom was empty, with just one stall remaining locked. The two assassins imdiately assud Zac was inside and quietly drawing their weapons.
One of them frowned. "Do we really have to kill him while he’s taking a dump?"
The other assassin looked at him as if he were stupid. "When else are you going to get a target this defenseless?"
"A real assassin wouldn’t waste this opportunity."
The first assassin stepped forward and kicked the stall door open.
BANG!
The door slamd against the wall, but contrary to what they expected, the stall was empty.
"What the..."
A blade suddenly pierced through the back of one assassin’s neck, creating a blood fountain.
The second one turned and saw Zac standing behind them.
He imdiately rushed forward with a knife in hand, but Zack sidestepped the attack at the last mont and casually slit his throat, killing him on the spot.
"System, why don’t I feel anything after killing two human beings? As a fellow human, shouldn’t I feel at least a little sympathy... or trauma?"
[That would only apply to a normal human. You are the descendant of the Fallen bloodline, one infamous for its cruelty and manic nature.]
"Are you suggesting that becoming a psychopath is my best career option?"
[If that’s the path you wish to take, then yes.]
("...")
"Show their status."

"Why are they called hitn and not assassins?"
[Because only those who awaken classes related to assassination are recognized as true Assassins.]
[As for people like them, those who lack a specialized class yet still choose the profession of killing are simply known as hitn.]
After reading the information, Zac pulled out his VSB and quickly sent a ssage to Lima.
A few seconds later, a reply arrived. "Go to hell."
A grin appeared on Zac’s face. "See? I knew she cared."
[Yes. Nothing says affection quite like ’Go to hell.’]
Ignoring the System sarcasm, Zac put away the VSB and headed back toward the train. A few minutes later, he found Marty waiting near their seats.
"Where have you been?" Marty asked.
"Nothing. Just taking care of a small business."
The train whistle sounded, and slowly it started moving. The city that Zac had lived in his entire life gradually disappeared behind them.
Zac sat beside the window while Marty sat across from him, scrolling through information on his VSB.
"So, did you check the route to the Central City?" Zac asked.
"You bet I did."
"I spent half the night researching about it on both the internet and the variant websites."
Marty reached into his backpack and pulled out a folded map. "Anyway, almost every source said the sa thing."
He spread the map across the table between them. "First, we travel to Maroon City, the largest city near us. From there, we have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to use their teleportation portal."
"How ridiculous?"
"The kind that makes you wonder if walking would be cheaper."
"Fair enough."
Marty pointed toward another location on the map. "The portal takes us directly to the outer periter of the Central City."
Then he pointed toward a massive circle drawn around the center.
"See this? This is the Central City."
[Did they really call it Central City because it’s in the center?]
His finger traced a thick blue line surrounding the city. "The entire city is surrounded by a massive river. It separates the Central City from the rest of the world. Forming a natural defensive barrier?"
"And apparently, the river is packed with monsters."
[And here I thought it would be an ideal day for swimming.]
"The only way across is through special types of ships."
"What makes them special?"
"According to the internet, they use so kind of monster-repelling substance. And before you ask, I don’t know what it is."
[I can tell you. for a few points that is.]
"Shut your mouth."
"Once we cross the river, we’ll arrive at the outer district. Then we’ll have to go through permit verification."
"We don’t have to worry about that; I have the permit with ."
"So, how long is this entire trip?"
Marty imdiately started counting on his fingers. "Three hours to Maroon City. A few minutes through the portal. Probably even less. Who knows? I’ve never used one before."
"What about the ship?"
"That takes an entire night."
Zac nodded. "Then if everything goes smoothly, we should arrive by early tomorrow morning."
"Yep. Assuming nothing goes wrong."
Zac silently rembered the two assassins currently decorating a restroom floor. "...Let’s hope nothing goes wrong."
Marty nodded. "Agreed."
After a mont, Marty looked at him curiously. "Why are you in such a hurry anyway? The academy doesn’t officially start until next week."
Zac imdiately rembered Armani’s terrifying smiling face.
"No reason."
[The reason is approximately three thousand toilets.]
Zac’s face twitched.

At the sa ti... Back in llow City.
Carrie sleepily walked into the dining room, rubbing her eyes. Her hair looked like a survivor from a hurricane.
Martha glanced up from preparing breakfast. "Good morning, sweety."
"Morning..." Carrie yawned. Then she looked around the house. "Mom, where’s Brother?"
Martha stared at her. "Carrie...Did you forget your brother left for Central City this morning?"
Carrie blinked. "Oh. Right. I totally forgot."
Martha couldn’t help laughing.
After a mont, Carrie quietly muttered, "You know...It’s really quiet without him."
Martha’s smile softened.
"Oh? Is our little devil missing her big brother already?"
Carrie’s face instantly turned red. "No!" she pointed dramatically.
"I’m not missing him at all!"
"Of course not." Martha nodded seriously. "That’s why you’re asking where he is right after waking up."
"Mom! Why do you always tease ?"
anwhile, hundreds of kiloters away, completely unaware of the conversation happening at ho...
Zac sneezed.
Marty looked up. "You okay?"
"Yeah."
Zac rubbed his nose. "It feels like soone is talking about ."
