Li Peifeng hadn’t yet responded; he slightly bowed his head and kissed Xu Manning on the cheek, then pulled Huang Tianxuan closer to him, and sincerely said, "Don’t speak, kiss !"
Did I guess right?!
Huang Tianxuan bit her lip, thinking to herself that for a few days of short-lived happiness, you would do anything!
"If you make random promises like this, it will be hard to wrap things up on the seventh without soone dying!"
Huang Tianxuan, of course, didn’t kiss him but whispered in Li Peifeng’s ear; the distance was almost the sa as kissing.
And this reminder, coupled with a warning, left Li Peifeng dazed for a long ti, his gaze shifting back and forth, as if recalling scenes of bloodshed on announcent day!
Hard to end without soone dying? Soone has to die?
"Scared?" Huang Tianxuan snorted, "I’m now doubting if what you told yesterday is true. Making promises on both sides, huh... you’re looking for trouble in the worst possible way!"
Li Peifeng narrowed his eyes slightly, took the initiative to kiss Huang Tianxuan, and softly said, "What is love in this world? It makes people vow life and death. If soone truly has to die by then, I hope it’s ."
...
Twenty minutes later, the group arrived at the hot spring resort.
According to the plan, first climb the mountains to see the scenery, then enter the greenhouse to pick fruit, and finally soak in the hot springs and play poker.
The three girls had a great ti, while Li Peifeng accompanied them the whole way but remained absent-minded, even when his face was covered with notes he was neither sad nor happy. Occasionally, when he won a ga of cards, he would frown as if pondering a difficult problem.
But his attitude slightly dampened the mood of the three girls; after just a few hands of cards, they had lunch and then went ho to rest.
"Don’t call for dinner, I have work to do."
Once ho, Li Peifeng went to the attic, locked the door, and stayed there from the afternoon until past ten in the evening. Only when he was starving did he stealthily leave the room while the others in the house were asleep, and grab a bite in the kitchen.
That night, Li Peifeng didn’t sleep a wink—not writing, then drawing.
Pulling an all-nighter is Li Peifeng’s special skill, as well as a common state among young people today.
For the forr, most of the ti it’s because their bodies can handle it, wanting to squeeze in more ti to work hard.
For the latter, it’s often because there is no anticipation for what happens after waking up, so they choose to stay up late to make the night longer, to make ti pass slower.
But occasionally, when faced with challenges, Li Peifeng also wishes ti would slow down, even more, yet he still cannot resist the days reaching January 5th.
Li Qiyuan and Yu Huizhi went to work as usual, Li Peifeng busied himself with writing, and the other girls were also occupied with their work.
But in the evening, Xu Manning and Wu Wenyue had a phone call, planning for the four of them to stroll in Ningyuan Ancient City’s scenic area together.
Ningyuan Ancient City is rated as one of the top ten ancient cities in the country and is one of the four best-preserved Ming Dynasty ancient cities in Dong. It has many historical buildings and cultural sites.
Moreover, since the Spring Festival is approaching, a lantern festival is being held in the scenic area, with so cultural performances at night, making it worth a visit for Huang Tianxuan and Xu Manning, who are not locals.
Li Yu’s elderly couple was intrigued and planned to join them in viewing the lanterns.
However, Li Peifeng, uninterested, declined with the excuse of having to write, leaving the elderly couple and the three girls to head out without him.
But once they left, Li Peifeng quietly snuck out himself.
He didn’t stay ho to write as he claid but instead t with four male classmates from high school with whom he shared a good relationship, and they had a al together, reminiscing about their school days.
One of these classmates, like Li Peifeng, is still in graduate school, while the remaining three have already started working—one as a doctor at Ningyuan City Hospital, one as a civil servant, and another in insurance—all living and working in Ningyuan City.
They drank, chatted, bragging, and road the hills, talking about the future, while also expressing the challenges each was currently facing, relieving the pressure in their hearts.
After more than an hour, Li Peifeng hurried ho, feeling relaxed, and not only made it back before the others returned from watching the lanterns, but also had enough ti to shower and brush his teeth to remove the sll of alcohol, pretending that he had been writing at ho all along, without arousing any suspicion.
Ti slowly ticked away amidst various trivial, mundane happenings, unaltered by human will.
...
...
"Ti flies, what day is it today?"
"The sixth."
"Wow, Fengfeng has been ho for six days, it’s almost the seventh day!"
On the morning of the sixth, at 7:10 a.m., at Li Peifeng’s ho, everyone was having breakfast as usual, but the atmosphere was heavier than usual, not just because of Yu Huizhi and Li Qiyuan’s subtle insinuations.
But also because, during the two days since returning from the hot spring outing on the fourth, Li Peifeng spoke less and less each day, spending most of his ti alone in the attic writing, not really interacting with the others. Yet, whether it was his parents or the three girls, they could all sense his low mood.
Yu Huizhi couldn’t bear the atmosphere anymore. Seeing Li Peifeng still silent, she put down her bowl and chopsticks and said directly, "Fengfeng, what ti is your flight tomorrow?"
Li Peifeng paused with his chopsticks, and slowly replied, "Eleven in the morning."
For the Endpoint’s annual eting on the eighth, he has to leave ho on the seventh to catch a flight to Shanghai, with an eleven o’clock flight requiring an airport arrival two hours ahead for security checks, and a one-hour drive from ho to the airport.
Simply put, Li Peifeng has to make a choice by this ti tomorrow at the latest, or he will miss his flight!
