My System Increases My power Every Day Without Missions and Levelling Chapter 197: Ancestor
Statues in that chamber were not many—or rather, the place was so vast that each statue could stand far apart from the others.
Richard realized that the room was connected to many corridors, each one filled with statues.
However, the statues inside this room were clearly figures of far greater strength.
Richard could even feel a sense of threat from several statues that appeared extrely ancient.
"Richard, I heard there’s a statue of an ancestor from the Skylight Clan here. He should be the son of the Skylight Grand Sovereign," Grace said.
"What? Really?" Richard was quite surprised by Grace’s words.
After all, that ant an ancestor from the ancient era—soone whose bloodline was truly connected to him. That made sense, since every mber of the Skylight Clan descended from the Skylight Grand Sovereign, who was said to have only one son.
They were all descendants of that son.
"Where?" Richard observed the statues with greater seriousness.
"Let’s ask," Grace replied.
She walked toward an elderly man in a gray robe who was sitting in ditation.
He looked far too old and should be an extrely senior mber.
Richard felt that even his vitality was barely hanging on. However, unlike the other mbers, he was conscious despite being in ditation.
It seed he served as a guide for those who wished to et their ancestors but did not know which statue belonged to them.
"Old sir..." Grace called out when she arrived in front of him.
Slowly, the old man’s eyelids opened, revealing a pair of extrely dim eyes.
Even blinking seed difficult for him.
Richard couldn’t guess his age, but he had clearly lived through many eras.
He stared at Richard and Grace, giving them a brief inspection.
"Who are you looking for?" he asked, imdiately aware of their purpose.
His voice flowed smoothly as he spoke.
"The ancestor of the Skylight Clan, the son of the Skylight Grand Sovereign," Grace answered.
Hearing that, the old man looked slightly surprised and examined Grace more closely.
However, he seed unable to sense any connection between her and the Skylight Clan, so his gaze shifted to Richard.
His eyes narrowed imdiately.
"Has the Skylight Clan fallen so far?" he said.
Richard almost choked at that.
He rolled his eyes and replied, "Old sir, the Skylight Clan is still strong and thriving. It will only grow stronger. I’m simply here to et my ancestor."
Even though he didn’t have deep emotional attachnt to the clan, he still felt proud of it. Naturally, he didn’t like hearing soone assu his clan had declined.
"Hmph, hmph, arrogant as always." The old man seed displeased with Richard’s response.
At the sa ti, Grace nudged Richard’s palm with her finger, signaling him not to offend the old man.
Richard chose to stay quiet, waiting for the old man to point out which statue belonged to his ancestor.
Fortunately, after a mont, the old man pointed toward a statue not far away.
It was a statue of a middle-aged man with long hair, handso and charismatic even as a stone carving.
Richard imdiately walked toward it.
The man’s body was actually very tall. Even while seated, his head reached Richard’s stomach level.
If he were standing, Richard’s head would probably only reach his chin.
Richard didn’t know what he would do once he summoned him, but since he was already here, there was no harm in eting him.
Perhaps he could obtain so benefits.
It would be nice if his ancestor gave him so Boundless Gems.
Richard sat in front of the statue and placed his hand on its shoulder, copying what others were doing.
Then he released his aura and enveloped the statue.
Just when he thought it would take ti, he was stunned.
His vision suddenly went dark for a mont before a vast, boundless gray world appeared.
Light gathered before him, forming the figure of a middle-aged man with long hair and an appearance even more striking than Edward Skylight.
He was srizing, possessing the most majestic noble aura.
Even without releasing power, he seed capable of making powerful beings bow.
His eyes were like a pair of suns, glowing bright gold.
He looked down at Richard, who was shorter, and lowered his head slightly just to et Richard’s gaze.
"Ohh... A new talent, not bad," he said.
"Greetings, ancestor..." Richard greeted him.
"Sit down, boy..." The man then sat and gestured for Richard to sit as well.
Richard didn’t expect him to be so friendly, which didn’t match his imposing appearance. Perhaps it was because he was his descendant.
Since he was friendly, Richard sat calmly.
However, his next words made Richard roll his eyes.
"Boy, if you want to learn, I can teach you many things. But if you want to ask for sothing like that girl before, I won’t give you anything."
"Ancestor, soone ca before ?" Richard asked.
"Yes, about a year ago, a girl with pink hair. She was quite talkative, asking to give her a Tier 7 Weapon."
Richard didn’t need further explanation to know exactly who that girl was.
Of course, it was his cousin, Olivia.
But since this ancestor already said he wouldn’t give him anything, it beca difficult for Richard to ask for anything.
"Ancestor, are you doing well?" Richard asked next.
He had no idea what to say, so he asked that.
"Isn’t it obvious? I can even leave this place if I wish, though not for long."
"I an... what are you doing inside the Boundless Temple?"
Richard was still unsure what to discuss, so he tried to satisfy his curiosity about the temple.
"The secrets of this temple cannot be told to anyone. Ask sothing else," the man replied.
Richard scratched his head.
"Boy, do you think you don’t need my guidance?" the man asked.
"Ehm..." Richard cleared his throat.
"That’s not it, ancestor," he quickly replied.
"Don’t worry. From what I see, you’re indeed a high-level talent. It’s normal for you to already have great knowledge. How about this? Let be the one who asks sothing from you."
Richard, "..."
"Ancestor... what do you want from ?" Richard asked, genuinely curious.
