Now reading: Chapter 62: Crane City from My Talent Skill Mutated, a Eastern novel by The World in 3 Lines.

With a roar of its engines, the helicopter quickly lifted off, flying away from Jingzhou Base City.

Sitting in the helicopter, Chen Yu gazed into the distance.

Skyscrapers stood in dense clusters, and the Outer City stretched out, vast and boundless. It was imnse; even from several thousand ters up, he could only glimpse the tip of the iceberg.

Deeper in the city, he could faintly make out the silhouette of a surrounding steel wall.

That was the Inner City!

The place where the upper echelon of society lived.

Ordinary people were hardly qualified to live in the Inner City.

This was the harsh reality of their world.

The Inner City and the Outer City seed to be part of the sa whole, but in reality, they represented two different social classes.

It was a divide that one might never cross in a lifeti.

For the Awakened, however, these so-called social classes were of little consequence.

But among the Extraordinary, there was also a class system, one even more brutal than that of regular society.

The helicopter soared into a sea of clouds, leaving Jingzhou Base City far behind.

Peering through the clouds, he looked down upon the wilderness.

In the areas near Jingzhou Base City, there were still small settlents, villages, and towns.

Living outside the base city was a move of desperation. After all, out there, one could be attacked by mutant beasts at any mont.

But the high cost of living in the base city was unaffordable for ordinary people, so they could only establish small settlents outside.

Still, the areas around the base city weren’t too dangerous. The rcenary Teams operating out of the city were no joke.

He looked down upon the wilderness. It seed peaceful, but danger lurked beneath the calm.

After watching for a while, Chen Yu closed his eyes to rest.

The mission was what mattered.

After holding back for a month at the Superpower Academy, he was itching to see so action.

Mostly, it was about harvesting the Source of Life.

Physical evolution was his true path to power.

Ti passed quickly. As the sun set, a black helicopter appeared over a stretch of wilderness.

Inside the helicopter, Chen Yu gazed into the distance as a city ca into view.

Crane City Safety Zone!

The hotown of this body’s previous owner.

But now, Crane City Safety Zone had been reduced to a ruined city.

As far as he could see, there were collapsed skyscrapers, making it look just like the ruined city he had visited in the Abyssal Realm.

A single beast tide had completely destroyed Crane City.

Who knew how long it would take to rebuild a safety zone.

Beneath the setting sun, the helicopter slowly descended, finally landing in the wilderness.

Chen Yu and the others disembarked from the helicopter. Xu Feng waved his hand, and the helicopter ascended once more, vanishing into the sea of clouds.

"We’re on foot from here. Be careful. Even though the beast tide has retreated, there’s still danger," Xu Feng warned, looking at Chen Yu and the other two.

They nodded. Then, the four of them were on the move, speeding toward Crane City.

They tore across the wilderness, their figures like sprinting cheetahs.

Before long, they arrived at Crane City.

Chen Yu was deeply shaken by the scene before him.

The hundred-ter-tall steel wall that once stood there was gone. The ground was riddled with cracks, and collapsed skyscrapers littered the distance. It was a truly apocalyptic scene.

A beast tide invasion had utterly destroyed a city.

Although he had seen news reports showing Crane City Safety Zone in ruins, the impact of witnessing it firsthand was far more intense.

Especially since this was a place where he had once lived.

Since his awakening, Chen Yu had killed plenty of mutant beasts. As his power grew, he had started to feel they weren’t so terrifying. But now, mories surged from the depths of his soul, and the fear of being dominated by mutant beasts resurfaced in his heart.

’Calm down!’

Taking a deep breath, Chen Yu forced himself to calm down.

Beside him, Baili Qing and An Ran looked at Chen Yu. Seeing his dark expression, Baili Qing couldn’t help but say, "It’s alright. The safety zone will be rebuilt one day."

Chen Yu nodded silently, then took the lead and charged into the urban center of Crane City.

The others followed close behind. By the ti they were fully inside Crane City’s urban area, the sky had grown completely dark.

Night fell, like an abyss swallowing everything.

There were no lights, only the sound of occasional roars echoing through the ruined city.

Crane City Safety Zone had now completely fallen, leaving behind nothing but broken walls and ruins.

Even though more than a month had passed, the mory of the beast tide invading Crane City was still fresh in Chen Yu’s mind.

Now, Crane City was an empty shell, its survivors having already been relocated.

Looking up at the moon, Xu Feng faced the trio. "You’re on your own from here. I won’t interfere. If sothing happens, you can contact . Contact when you’ve finished the mission, too."

The three nodded. With a flicker, Xu Feng’s figure vanished into the night.

The safety officer would only step in if they encountered a life-or-death crisis. As for the mission, they were on their own.

Watching Xu Feng depart, Chen Yu and the other two exchanged a look.

"Brother Yu, this is your hotown, so you must know it well. Where to next?" An Ran was the first to ask.

Chen Yu thought for a mont, then pointed. "Let’s check over there. I’m sensing so mutant beast fluctuations in that direction. We might find sothing."

The other two said nothing, just nodded. Then, with a flicker, the three of them disappeared into the night.

...

Darkness descended, swallowing the land!

However, even in the dead of night, it wasn’t pitch-black.

The moon shone from above, its rays tearing through the darkness and providing a faint light.

Atop an abandoned skyscraper, Xu Feng stood, his gaze fixed on a nearby street.

With his Extraordinary vision, not even the darkness could obstruct his sight.

On the street below, three figures appeared—it was Chen Yu’s group.

’I hope these kids get lucky and don’t run into any powerful mutant beasts.’

Xu Feng mused.

A city that had been ravaged by a beast tide was still fraught with danger.

So powerful mutant beasts lurked underground, ready to give you an unexpected—and unwelco—surprise at any mont.

Certain types of mutant beasts could hibernate underground, but they would reawaken and launch a surprise attack the mont any life form drew near.

This was not an uncommon occurrence; it had happened many tis before.

...

Shrouded by the night, three figures advanced swiftly down an abandoned street, like cats in the dark.

Suddenly, Chen Yu stopped.

With his Biological Force Field active, Chen Yu could constantly detect nearby fluctuations.

Guided by his Biological Force Field, his gaze shifted to an abandoned supermarket.

"There are mutant beasts in the supermarket. Be careful," Chen Yu said in a low voice.

An Ran nodded, but Baili Qing was surprised.

He hadn’t sensed a thing, yet Chen Yu had detected it first.

However, knowing Chen Yu was an S-rank Ability User, Baili Qing didn’t question him. He trusted Chen Yu’s judgnt.

"How many are there?" An Ran whispered.

Chen Yu stared at the pitch-black supermarket for a long mont before speaking. "There should be three of them. They’re not too strong, probably around the level of a Level 3 Mutant Beast."

"Level 3..."

The other two visibly relaxed. With their strength, Level 3 Mutant Beasts were no problem at all.

Chen Yu looked away from the supermarket and turned to An Ran and Baili Qing.

"Don’t resist. I’m going to use my ability to mask your Life Fluctuations."

They both nodded. Chen Yu then activated his Biological Force Field Skill, generating a Force Field that enveloped their bodies.

Being covered by the Biological Force Field could completely mask their own Life Fluctuations.

This was one of the abilities of the Biological Force Field!

The two could feel an invisible energy enveloping them. It covered their bodies but didn’t impede their movents in any way; they could still move freely.

SWOOSH—!

With the Force Field in place, Chen Yu moved first, charging toward the pitch-black supermarket.

An Ran and Baili Qing followed close behind him into the supermarket.
