Now reading: Chapter 204: Lord Vord’s Reason from My Three Beautiful Vampire Wives can hear my Inner Thoughts, a Fantasy novel by EspirituSantu.

Cain stood quietly among them, his expression calm, almost uninterested, as if everything happening around him had nothing to do with him at all, but inside his mind, a completely different storm was unfolding, one filled with relief, calculation, and a faint trace of amusent that he could not quite suppress.

This guy...

His eyes flicked toward Lord Vord for just a brief mont before returning to their neutral state.

...saved .

A small grin almost ford inside his thoughts, though his face remained composed.

Perfect.

He exhaled slowly in his mind, letting the tension that had been building earlier finally loosen, because for the first ti since he released that pressure, sothing had shifted in his favor, sothing that allowed him to step back into the shadows without drawing more attention than necessary.

A perfect cover.

He clasped his hands loosely behind his back, maintaining the posture of soone who had no stake in the conversation, soone who was simply observing.

I just hope...

His thoughts narrowed slightly.

...he doesn’t release that pressure again.

Because if he did, if even a fraction of that overwhelming force ca out once more, then the difference would beco clear, the gap between what had happened earlier and what Lord Vord could produce would be exposed, and once that happened, the fragile illusion Cain had built would collapse instantly.

And that would be troubleso.

Very troubleso.

anwhile, beside him, Faith, Ivira, and Cornelia stood in silence, their expressions calm, their gazes steady, but the faint curve of their lips betrayed sothing else entirely.

They were smirking.

Not openly.

Not in a way that others could easily notice.

But it was there.

Because they knew.

Every word in Cain’s head.

Every thought he tried to hide.

Every lie he told with such confidence.

And now, seeing him rely on soone else to cover his tracks, seeing him silently praise Lord Vord for unknowingly taking the bla, it only made that smirk deepen just a little.

Faith lowered her gaze slightly, her lips pressing together as if holding back a laugh.

Ivira crossed her arms, her expression calm, but her eyes held a faint amusent.

Cornelia tilted her head just a little, her long curly hair swaying gently as she watched Cain out of the corner of her eye.

None of them spoke.

But all of them understood.

And that was enough.

Lord Vord, unaware of the silent exchange happening nearby, nodded firmly at the Moonshade Family’s question, his expression filled with certainty.

"Yes," he said, his voice carrying weight now, no longer casual, no longer uncertain.

"You did."

He took a step forward, his gaze sweeping across them, as if committing their presence to mory.

"Knowing that there are other planes... that there are other existences beyond this one..."

His voice grew stronger, more animated, filled with the excitent of soone who had finally reached a long sought goal.

"That realization alone was enough to push forward."

He lifted his hand slightly, clenching it as if holding onto that mont.

"You have no idea how long I have chased this."

His tone deepened.

"How many tis I stood at the edge of breakthrough... only to fall short."

His eyes darkened slightly, recalling those countless attempts, those failures that had piled up over ti.

"I tried everything," he continued, his voice steady but intense. "I refined my blood. I pushed my mana to its limits. I challenged my own existence again and again, trying to break through that barrier."

He let out a breath.

"But no matter what I did... it was not enough."

His gaze sharpened.

"Because I was missing sothing."

He pointed lightly toward them.

"A direction."

His lips curved into a faint smile.

"And then... you appeared."

His voice carried a quiet reverence now, not toward them as individuals, but toward what they represented.

"A sign that there is more beyond this world."

He spread his arms slightly, his presence expanding just a little, though not enough to harm anyone this ti.

"And in that mont, everything aligned."

His eyes glead.

"My blood resonated."

"My mana surged."

"My understanding deepened."

His voice rose with each word, as if reliving the breakthrough itself.

"And before I even realized it..."

He paused.

Then smiled.

"I had already crossed that boundary."

Silence followed.

Not because they did not understand.

But because they were still processing the weight of what he had just said.

"I made it," Lord Vord said softly, almost to himself.

Then louder.

"I made it."

The pride in his voice was undeniable now, no longer hidden behind apologies or explanations, as he stood there as soone who had finally reached a level that placed him above most within this kingdom.

Then his gaze returned to the Moonshade Family, his expression softening once more.

"And for that..."

He bowed his head slightly again.

"I owe you my gratitude."

He straightened.

"And I do not take such things lightly."

His voice turned firm.

"Ask."

A single word.

Clear.

Direct.

"Whatever you want," he continued, his gaze steady. "Power. Resources. Territory. Protection."

His presence expanded slightly again, this ti not as pressure, but as authority.

"I will grant it."

The courtyard stirred.

Even those who were still struggling to stand reacted, their expressions changing from pain to shock, from confusion to disbelief, as his words sank in.

"That... that cannot be..."

One of the injured vampires spoke, his voice trembling as he forced himself to sit up.

"My Lord... you cannot..."

Others nodded weakly, their expressions strained but filled with urgency as they tried to speak.

"This is not how it works..."

"Rewards of that level..."

"It depends on bloodline..."

Their voices overlapped, growing stronger despite their weakened state, driven by sothing deeper than pain.

By fear.

By hierarchy.

By tradition.

A taller vampire, clearly of higher standing, clenched his fists as he spoke, his voice strained but firm.

"My Lord, with all due respect..."

He struggled to stand, his legs shaking.

"The bloodline hierarchy cannot be ignored."

His gaze moved toward the Moonshade Family, then back to Lord Vord.

"They are outsiders. Their bloodline... we do not even know its rank within our system."

Another added, his tone sharper despite his condition.

"Rewards of that magnitude are reserved for those of noble blood... those who have proven themselves within this kingdom."

"And for those whose lineage aligns with the established hierarchy," a third continued, his voice carrying weight despite the weakness in his body.

They began to explain, their words overlapping but clear in aning, as they spoke of the structure that defined their world, the system that determined worth and status among vampires.

"The lower bloodlines serve..."

"The mid bloodlines rise through rit..."

"The higher bloodlines hold authority..."

"And above them..."

They paused briefly, their voices lowering.

"...are those who carry ancient blood."

Their gazes hardened.

"This system exists for a reason."

"It maintains order."

"It ensures balance."

"To grant such a reward to unknown bloodlines..."

They shook their heads.

"...would disrupt everything."

The courtyard grew tense once more, though this ti not from pressure, but from conflict.

Lord Vord’s expression darkened.

At first, only slightly.

Then more.

His eyes narrowed as he listened, his earlier gratitude now clashing with the rigid structure being placed before him.

"I see," he said slowly.

His voice was calm.

Too calm.

"So that is your reasoning."

The vampires stiffened, sensing the change in his tone.

"My Lord, we only speak for the stability of the kingdom," one of them said quickly, bowing his head despite his trembling body.

"For the preservation of order," another added.

"For the respect of tradition," a third finished.

Lord Vord remained silent for a mont.

Then—

He laughed.

Not softly.

Not awkwardly.

But loudly.

The sound echoed across the courtyard, carrying with it sothing sharp, sothing cutting, sothing that made even those who were already on edge feel a deeper sense of unease.

"Order?" he repeated, his voice filled with amusent.

"Tradition?"

He took a step forward.

"And you speak of these things to ?"

His presence rose again, not enough to crush them, but enough to remind them of the gap between them.

"I who just stepped into the Ascendant Blood Mana Realm."

His eyes glead.

"I who broke through the very limits that held for decades."

His voice grew heavier.

"And you dare tell what can and cannot be done?"

The vampires froze.

"My Lord..." one of them began, but his voice faltered.

Lord Vord raised his hand, cutting him off.

"Strength," he said, his tone firm, absolute.

"Is everything."

The words fell like a hamr.

"This world does not move by your traditions," he continued. "It does not bend to your hierarchy."

He looked at them one by one.

"It moves by power."

His gaze sharpened.

"And I..."

His lips curved slightly.

"...have power."

The air grew heavier.

Not crushing.

But suffocating.

"I have ascended," he said, his voice steady.

"I have stepped beyond what you understand."

He spread his arms slightly.

"And that ans..."

His eyes locked onto them.

"I have a say."

Silence.

No one spoke.

No one moved.

Because the truth of his words hung in the air, undeniable, unavoidable, crushing in its own way.

Then—

A voice echoed.

Cold.

Calm.

Cutting through everything.

"You just entered the beginning realm of Ascendant..."

The words were slow.

asured.

"...and yet you are this arrogant?"
