Just as Luo Xiu had said, when people reach a certain level of hunger, they beco more terrifying than wild beasts. It's not just about things that are edible; at tis like these, they would dare to stuff even the inedible into their mouths.
Luo Xiu had never been as hungry as he was now. He was so starved that he wanted to grab the nearest vase and take a bite. So, he decisively turned his attention to the nearby dark creatures.
But those dark creatures were utterly disgusting, resembling magnified microbes.
After so deliberation, Luo Xiu finally chose a dark creature that resembled a giant millipede with a hard shell. He caught it off guard and finished it with a single punch.
After briefly preparing it by the lake, Luo Xiu retrieved his Three-Legged Golden Crow Furnace from his Human Sanctuary, ignited the Pill Fire, and began to cook.
...
"Magnificent!"
Luo Xiu tried a bite. The crisp yet tender texture and rich aroma were intoxicating, causing him to let out what could only be described as a "devil's whisper."
"You wouldn't believe it, but the at inside this disgusting creature's shell is quite fragrant. It tastes a bit like shrimp at and has no strange aftertaste," he mused aloud. "It seems these so-called dark creatures aren't fundantally different from those in the outside world. Aside from their ugly appearance, they taste the sa when you eat them."
"It's just a sha there are no seasonings. It's missing a part of its soul."
"Master Ping, want to try so?"
Master Ping sounded disgusted. "No, thank you. I am an artifact spirit; I have no need for sustenance."
Luo Xiu shrugged, ignoring Master Ping. Letting out another satisfied grunt, he began to feast.
...
The dark creature, which was the size of a large water buffalo, was finished by Luo Xiu alone in short order. Still not satisfied, he felt like hunting another one.
However, once the shell was removed, there wasn't much edible at inside; it was mostly blood. To be fair, though, the blood had a clean fragrance and even a faint sweetness, making it very refreshing to drink.
After he finished the at and blood, Luo Xiu felt his strength return and set off toward the strange building he had previously located with his Divine Sense.
A distance of a thousand miles was not far for Luo Xiu. Just two or three flaps of his Tricolor Thunder Wings would get him there. The deafening sonic booms echoed across this dark, dead, and mysterious land.
As he drew closer to the eerie building, Luo Xiu and Master Ping both sensed a terrifying aura. It seed so powerful entity dwelled within.
Because of this, Luo Xiu dared not fly directly there. He landed several hundred ters from the building, then released his Divine Sense to scan the area as he cautiously advanced.
In his Divine Sense, he perceived a structure shaped like a massive thunder bamboo shoot. It towered hundreds of ters high and was covered in irregularly scattered round holes of various sizes, giving it a strange yet magnificent appearance. In this boundless, desolate, and silent land, there wasn't so much as a single hill. Only this strange building stood tall, cutting a lonely figure.
Master Ping, perched on Luo Xiu's shoulder, observed with his Divine Sense for a mont before suddenly remarking, "Instead of a dwelling for intelligent life, I think this looks more like an insect nest that's been magnified many tis over."
Hearing this, Luo Xiu frowned but kept moving forward vigilantly. "Whatever it is, we've co this far. Let's check it out first."
A short while later, Luo Xiu entered the building through one of the openings.
His Divine Sense revealed a vast interior space that was also intensely cold. The air felt like scraping blades against his exposed skin, causing a faint stinging pain.
Suddenly, Luo Xiu's expression shifted. "Master Ping, my Divine Sense is detecting The Void here! A lot of it… that misty energy is incredibly dense."
Master Ping exclaid in shock, "So this really is a goddamn bug nest?!"
Luo Xiu said, "There seem to be people up ahead. Make sure you protect yourself."
With this warning, Luo Xiu slowly extended his right hand, and the Mysterious Central Sword materialized from thin air. Ferocious Sword Qi instantly flooded the dark space.
Clutching the Mysterious Yellow Instrunt, he pressed forward.
Not far ahead, his Divine Sense had already discovered a Triangular Stone Platform. It was of a moderate size, with three figures shrouded in tattered black robes sitting cross-legged at its three corners. They appeared to be performing so kind of ritual, or perhaps jointly maintaining a Formation.
Furthermore, Luo Xiu couldn't sense any aura from the three figures. It was precisely this lack of an aura that made them seem all the more terrifying. This likely ant their strength far surpassed his own.
However, from beneath the Triangular Stone Platform, Luo Xiu could faintly sense a powerful and mysterious presence. He guessed that so great horror was sealed and suppressed under it.
As he was lost in thought, the clang of tal suddenly echoed through the darkness, followed imdiately by a glimr of light. The light was not strong; in fact, it was quite faint. But for Luo Xiu, who had been in the darkness for so long, even this dim light was blinding.
Master Ping said, "The fact that light can exist here ans it's unaffected by the Land of No Return. Or perhaps they used so Secret Technique to isolate this place from it."
Once Luo Xiu's eyes adjusted to the light, he saw that the three figures on the Triangular Stone Platform had all risen to their feet. Beneath the tattered black robes, three pairs of green-glowing eyes watched him in silence.
"I never expected anyone else would find this place," one of the figures suddenly spoke. Its voice was ancient and raspy, like iron being ground by sand, grating on the ears.
At that mont, another figure noticed the Mysterious Central Sword in Luo Xiu's hand. Extre hatred flared in its green-glowing eyes. "That sword… What is your relationship with the Azure Emperor?!"
Luo Xiu's expression remained blank, as if he hadn't heard. He asked, "The Void that appeared in the Boundless Heavens, accessed via the Starry Sky Ancient Path... was that the work of you three?"
"Hmph! Such nonsense. Third Elder, go and kill him! Since he wields the Mysterious Central Sword, he must be connected to the Azure Emperor! It was the Azure Emperor who caused our mission to fail all those years ago, leading to our punishnt of guarding this place for endless ages!"
A black-robed figure leaped down from the stone platform and began to walk unhurriedly toward Luo Xiu. This was clearly the one called "Third Elder."
Luo Xiu's expression grew grave. Using Divine Sense Communication, he told Master Ping, "Get to the side and protect yourself."
Without a second thought, Master Ping flew away.
Luo Xiu stared at the approaching Third Elder as a black aura suddenly surged from his body. In an instant, he shifted into his Grim Reaper Form. He could not fathom the strength of the person before him. He knew a battle to the death was inevitable.
Simultaneously, the Heavenly Armor automatically enveloped his body.
The Third Elder's eyes narrowed. "The Heavenly Armor… It seems your relationship with the Azure Emperor is truly special."
Luo Xiu's figure flashed, transforming into a streak of Tricolor Liuli Thunder as he slashed with his sword! "Sword One: Roaming Dragon Sword Salute!"
The Third Elder didn't move. With a simple wave of his hand, an invisible force sent Luo Xiu flying backward, sword and all. A portion of the terrifying power actually penetrated the Heavenly Armor, causing Luo Xiu to spit up a mouthful of blood.
"Heh. If the Azure Emperor himself were here, even he would be nothing more than a helpless cur to us now. We may have been punished to guard this place for all these years, but we have never once neglected our cultivation!"
