The Heaven Azure Empire.
Deep within the Imperial Palace, at Luo Hao's place of retreat.
i Nu and Zhu Yu, along with a dozen civil and military officials, knelt before the ancient stone door, their foreheads beaded with cold sweat. Even separated by the thick stone door, they could all feel a bone-chilling cold.
"Didn't I say that no matter what happens, you are not to disturb my seclusion?"
i Nu quickly kowtowed and said urgently, "But Your Majesty, this matter must be decided by you!"
Inside the cave residence, Luo Hao struggled to suppress his anger and asked, "What is it?"
With a trembling voice, i Nu said, "Just today, we received news… the entire Swordfire Divine Sect, including Sword Fire Ancestor, was slaughtered by a scoundrel calling himself 'Emperor Shura.'"
"Furthermore, according to our investigation, that Emperor Shura is the Azure Emperor who escaped from Calamity Extermination Island!"
Zhu Yu then added, "Master, what Master i says is absolutely true! I saw the Azure Emperor before in the Boundless Heavens, and he is indeed Ao Debiao from the Divine Oracle Cave Heaven."
At this declaration, all the civil and military officials stared in shocked disbelief.
After a long silence, Luo Hao's icy voice ca from within the cave residence. "Issue my imperial edict—during my seclusion, all affairs of the empire are to be decided by King Guang. All civil and military officials must fully support and cooperate with him. Anyone found to be lazy or negligent, regardless of past achievents, shall be executed!"
Upon hearing this, i Nu's eyes widened. He kowtowed and said, "Yes, Your Majesty!"
"Now get lost, all of you!" Luo Hao seed to be in a terrible mood, his voice erupting in an angry roar.
Terrified, the officials trembled all over as if they had been plunged into an ice cellar. They scrambled to their feet and fled the place, which seed even more terrifying than Hell itself.
A short while later, after everyone had departed from the dim cave residence, Luo Hao slowly opened his eyes, a glint of cold light flashing within them.
Tian'er, has your revenge finally co?
Just you wait!
…
To the north of the Imperial Palace, King Guang's Mansion covered an area tens of miles wide. Surrounded by high walls that isolated it from the world, it was like a secluded paradise.
In the spacious courtyard, King Guang was leisurely watering his flowers, thoroughly enjoying his pasti. But when i Nu, standing behind him, relayed Emperor Hao's edict, the hand holding the watering can froze in mid-air, and the smile on his face solidified.
i Nu looked at King Guang's back, which seed to have aged a great deal in that single instant, and sighed silently.
"Prince, I have urgent matters to attend to and must take my leave," he said.
King Guang slowly turned, his eyes filled with helplessness as he watched i Nu's retreating figure.
Hao'er, Tian'er… must you two brothers truly go this far?
…
Ti flowed like a river. Three whole days had passed since the destruction of the Swordfire Divine Sect.
During these three days, Luo Xiu had remained in Swordfire State, taking Xia Chan sightseeing and imrsing themselves in the beauty of the mountains and rivers. He was quite enjoying his role as a hands-off manager. The work of cleaning up the aftermath in Swordfire State had been left entirely to Guan Zhongbao.
As for Master Ping and Immortal, they certainly had no desire to be a third wheel, so they stayed behind in the Land of Lawlessness.
…
It was another sunny day, and like any beautiful day, it naturally had to start with a beating.
"AHH—!"
A high-pitched scream erupted from the cozy tent by the lake, startling a flock of early birds searching for worms in the woods.
"Luo Xiu, you bastard!"
Luo Xiu, still in the midst of a sweet dream, was abruptly kicked out of the tent by Xia Chan, landing with a splash in the lake.
A mont later, Luo Xiu swam to the shore with a pained grimace. Rubbing his lower back as he walked toward the tent, he muttered softly, "You crazy woman, did you have to kick so hard?"
"That one nearly knocked a kidney loose!"
BANG!
As soon as the words left his mouth, a chic high-heeled shoe flew out of the tent and struck him squarely on the head.
Luo Xiu clutched his head and promptly sprinted away, fleeing this hell on earth. He found a shaded spot under a birch tree and began to fiddle with his fishing gear.
Forget it. I'm not dealing with that madwoman.
No matter what, fishing is still the most dependable pasti.
This particular lake wasn't very large, and the fish in it were small. Little crucian carp often disturbed his bait spot, aning his efforts were frequently wasted. However, thanks to his divine technique, Ten Thousand Manifestations, Luo Xiu had managed to fulfill his grand dream of catching a hundred-pound culter.
A cool morning breeze rustled the treetops and fallen leaves, also stirring a nearby cluster of bright chrysanthemums.
Luo Xiu gazed at the vivid chrysanthemums, his expression thoughtful. He couldn't help but think of the still-angry Xia Chan in the tent and how he had "bullied" her last night. He rubbed his still-aching back, gently hissing through his teeth.
Looks like Su Fox is still the best. She's willing no matter what I want to try.
Hmm… I should try with Yan'er next ti. She probably won't get angry.
Sigh, as for Xia Chan, I should just forget it. I'm lucky I survived this ti.
…
Luo Xiu's gaze landed on the brightest daisy in the flowerbed. As a aningful smile crept onto his face, he murmured to himself.
Maybe I'll try again tonight when Xia Chan isn't paying attention?
Ah, forget it. That crazy woman's kicks really, really hurt.
As Luo Xiu's thoughts wandered, a gust of wind suddenly blew toward him.
His expression hardened slightly. With a gentle wave of his hand, the invisible breeze before him coalesced into a mysterious rune in The Void. Then, Luo Xiu activated a certain spell. The rune instantly dispersed into a mist of light, which then reford in The Void as lines of clear text.
