While Luo Xier was at the Swordsman's Inn being tornted to the brink of collapse by Lao Ba, the social butterfly, Luo Xiu was leisurely strolling through the streets.
The reason Luo Xiu had placed Lao Ba by Luo Xier's side was not just to help her win the championship, but also to keep an eye on her. This little witch loved to play clever tricks, so Luo Xiu wouldn't rest easy without a failsafe.
...
The Inner Plains were, after all, the Inner Plains. Even a small town here was more bustling and prosperous than a small city in the Outer Plains.
After wandering the streets for a while, Luo Xiu decided to go et up with Luo Yue.
When he had first erged from the Sword Forest and arrived in Wangjian Town, Luo Xiu had scanned the area with his Divine Sense. He discovered that the flying boat carrying Luo Yue and the others had not yet arrived. Coincidentally, he had also located Luo Xier's hiding spot, so he went to settle accounts with her first.
...
Wangjian Inn was the largest inn in Wangjian Town, bar none.
All the young talents participating in this year's Sword Discourse Assembly, along with their friends and family, were to be lodged here.
After their flying boat landed, Luo Yue and her group were brought here.
Wang Wu, thrilled to be reunited with his wife and to have snuck into the Inner Plains, was eager to take Luo Yue out for a walk.
But Luo Yue was reluctant. "Shouldn't we wait here for Haoran to co out?" she asked.
His Majesty, the Azure Emperor, should be out of the Sword Forest very soon.
Wang Wu waved a dismissive hand, stating with absolute certainty, "I'm afraid you're overthinking it. That pretty boy won't be out for a month. Are we supposed to just wait in this inn for him that whole ti?"
"Oh, Yueyue, please listen to ! It's so rare for us to be together. Do you really have the heart to just leave hanging?"
"Besides, I'm your husband! Why are you always so concerned about that pretty boy?"
Unable to sway Wang Wu, Luo Yue finally gave in.
Afterward, Wang Wu gleefully went to the next room to knock on A Wei's door, intending to invite him and his wife out with them.
But just as he raised his hand to knock, it froze in mid-air.
From inside the room, faint moans and cries could be heard.
He didn't need to guess what A Wei was up to.
Beside him, Luo Yue gave a knowing smile. "Let's forget it. They're busy."
Wang Wu chuckled. "That Yu Han is really sothing else. If I were A Wei, I'd definitely..."
Before he could finish, Luo Yue's hand viciously pinched his waist.
"So, you like other n's wives, do you?"
Wang Wu hissed in pain. "Yueyue... you can't just say things like that! Everyone knows that I, Wang Wu, am devoted only to you!"
"Pah! Tell that to the ghosts!"
"Weren't you staring at Yu Han the whole ti on the flying boat?"
Luo Yue's voice dripped with sarcasm. "Look how wonderful Yu Han is. A stunning figure, a beautiful face, a perky butt, and so flirtatious... If I were a man, I'd like her too."
Wang Wu's anger flared. "Yueyue," he said in a low voice, "if you keep talking like this, I'm going to get angry!"
Luo Yue rolled her eyes. "Then get angry. Better yet, just leave . Then I can go find that pretty boy."
Wang Wu hurriedly changed the subject. "Speaking of which, where did those little brats go? There's no sign of them."
"Those kids were even more eager than you," Luo Yue said. "They went out the mont we got to the inn."
"Forget them. Let's go enjoy our ti together!"
"..."
「A good while later.」
A Wei and his wife, Yu Han, erged from their room, their business concluded.
At the entrance of Wangjian Inn, A Wei had his arm wrapped around Yu Han's slender waist. The couple was whispering intimately, their affection sickeningly sweet.
Just as they stepped outside, they saw that the small square opposite the inn was packed with people, many of whom were kneeling in worship.
The couple decided to see what all the commotion was about.
As they navigated through the crowd and onto the small square, A Wei's eyes widened as if he'd seen sothing terrifying, and his body trembled with excitent.
"Th-this... This is the Highland Sword God!"
Yu Han's delicate body trembled as well, her face flushed red with exhilaration.
The Highland Sword God, Jian Jiu Yang, was the idol of countless cultivators on the Lingtian Plateau!
The young couple couldn't possibly understand why such a legendary, god-like figure would descend to the mortal realm today.
And to think they had actually encountered him!
This was the kind of fortune one could only accumulate over several lifetis!
...
At this very mont, the Highland Sword God, Jian Jiu Yang, who was being surrounded and worshipped by the crowd, was also rather vexed.
The children of the Plateau are truly too enthusiastic.
It had been over three hundred years since he last went out, yet he never expected so many people to still recognize him.
Before him, a middle-aged man was bowing and scraping. The man was the innkeeper of Wangjian Inn, with the surna Liu.
"Sword God Grandfather, please, co inside. The humble one has already arranged the best guest room for you."
Jian Jiu Yang, however, was quite approachable and lacked any of the expected airs of a Sword God. He smiled and said, "There's no need, lad. I'm not here to stay; I'm looking for soone."
Manager Liu asked, "Then may I ask who Sword God Grandfather is looking for? Perhaps this humble one can be of assistance."
Jian Jiu Yang pondered for a mont before replying, "I don't know who he is, but he should have already entered the Sword Forest."
"Given his talent in the Sword Dao, he should erge in a few days and co to Wangjian Town."
"That lad is a genius the likes of which is seen only once in ten thousand years. I absolutely cannot miss this chance to take him as my disciple. Little manager, you must help keep an eye out for him."
"But of course."
A wave of shock passed through the surrounding crowd.
Many had overheard the conversation between Jian Jiu Yang and Manager Liu.
What kind of peerless genius could have prompted the Sword God Grandfather to co personally to recruit a disciple?
In the crowd, A Wei and Yu Han exchanged a look, both filled with imnse envy for the "lad" the Sword God had ntioned.
Jian Jiu Yang suddenly asked, "Are those young ones participating in the Sword Discourse Assembly all arranged to stay in this inn after they erge from the Sword Forest?"
"Yes, Sword God Grandfather."
"Very well. In that case, I will wait here. I hope you don't mind borrowing your space."
Without another word, Jian Jiu Yang sat down cross-legged on the spot.
He felt that only by waiting here could he find the boy at the earliest possible mont.
The reason he had co out of seclusion and personally ventured into the mortal world was because this "lad" had shattered the Sword Intent he had left on the Mighty Celestial Stone in Yunyang City.
Thus, he was desperate to find that young man, accept him as his disciple, and bestow upon him his entire life's mastery of the Sword Dao!
...
Manager Liu knew that these old immortals had eccentric temperants, so he didn't press the issue. He waved his hand, signaling the crowd to disperse and not to disturb Sword God Grandfather's ditation.
The onlookers quickly scattered, and the small square beca empty once more.
A Wei and Yu Han disappeared back into the streets.
The couple was about to go shopping when they suddenly saw Luo Xiu walking toward them with a carefree air, and they both stopped in their tracks.
"Hey, kid, how did you get to Wangjian Town so fast?" A Wei asked, looking at Luo Xiu with a strange expression.
Luo Xiu replied nonchalantly, "I arrived so ti ago. When I saw Luo Yue hadn't arrived yet, I went for a stroll."
A Wei suddenly laughed. "You must have given up, right? You only just entered the Sword Forest."
It never occurred to him that Luo Xiu could have actually passed through the Sword Forest in such a short amount of ti.
Even if the White Emperor himself were here, it would be impossible to exit the Sword Forest in a re two to four hours.
Yu Han sighed softly and offered so comfort. "It's okay, Haoran. You're still young, and you'll have plenty of opportunities in the future. Giving up is fine. That Sword Forest is incredibly dangerous; your safety is more important than anything."
A Wei, however, just snorted coldly and cursed under his breath. "What a sha. We could have had fun in the Inner Plains for a month, but since you gave up so quickly, I reckon we'll be sent back first thing tomorrow morning!"
He walked up and poked Luo Xiu's forehead, his tone one of utter disappointnt. "Ah, you little rascal, you just couldn't cut it!"
"We spent five hundred thousand Spirit Jade for a one-day trip to the Inner Plains! What a waste! This is on you. I'm going to find your Sect Leader and demand a refund!"
Luo Xiu stared at A Wei, his brows furrowing slightly as a hint of killing intent flickered in his eyes.
He could tolerate Wang Wu out of respect for Luo Yue and because he was using the identity of "Bai Haoran."
But this A Wei was truly asking for a beating, and Luo Xiu felt no need to hold back.
If I can't tolerate it, I'll just beat him up.
As he decided to act, a wild surge of Sword Intent suddenly erupted from the nearby square, seemingly responding to the killing intent Luo Xiu had just released.
On the square, Jian Jiu Yang shot to his feet. In a flash, he appeared directly in front of Luo Xiu!
"Excellent, excellent! This is the killing intent I've been looking for, one that contains the Sword Intent of a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood!"
"Hahahaha... Lad, I have finally found you!"
