The shout was so loud that it seed like the world froze for a mont.
Worried, Ray turned around to check on the beasts below.
So far, it didn’t seem like anything was heading their way, hence he heaved a sharp breath of relief.
He had never seen these beasts climb a hill before, but he didn’t doubt their ability to do so, hence he always remained cautious.
Turning to look back at the duo, Trisha lifted a brow for a mont.
"Scared?"
Ray blinked at the absurdity of the question before shooting her an intense glare that, if possible, could have burned a hole straight through her head.
"Scared? Oh no, no, no. Scared? Why should we be scared? Isn’t it just a King-rank beast? Co on. It’s a piece of cake for us because to you, we are just a bunch of super ta-humans like the big four or sothing.
To you, those monsters down there are just like Advanced-rank beasts, right? Like we can just go down there, bash their skulls in, and grow stronger. Are you stupid?!"
Chloe was taken aback by the sudden anger rising in the boy’s voice.
This was the first ti since the day he almost took the life of the Aspirant who bullied Van that she was seeing him lose his cool like this.
He was usually second only to Trisha in coldness.
"Just in case you forgot, let remind you.
We almost died to the first King-rank beast we encountered in Palatine. That damned Minotaur almost took our lives. We barely survived.
Then we co here, and almost died to an already injured King-rank beast. You had multiple injuries that bled freshly and made you lose consciousness for hours. I almost got my head decapitated by the sa injured bastard. Note the fact that we almost died? And you speak like we want to go on a casual field trip?"

The entire hill fell silent for a full minute as the girls looked at the boy.
Ray looked at them both for a second before focusing his attention back on Trisha.
"What? You won’t say anything now?"
Looking behind her for several seconds, the girl just clicked her tongue and began walking away from the steep edge of the hill.
She walked back to her designated spot, laid back down, and then slowly closed her eyes.
"I doubt that any beast will attack us on this hill. But just in case, we can rotate who gets to watch while the rest of us... rests. Ray gets the first watch. Wake up after two hours," Trisha uttered smoothly and then turned onto her side.
Ray blinked in genuine shock.
’Like for real? Did she just completely ignore my words and decide to sleep? You brought up a damn conversation and left it midway?
Who the fuck does she even think she is? A princess or a queen?! Damn you, girl! I pity the miserable bastard who will actually end up with you. Tsk!’
After raging inwardly, he turned to look at Chloe with a prominent frown still on his face.
"You heard the queen, go to sleep. I will keep watch."
Chloe looked at him worriedly. "Sure?"
"I can go weeks without sleeping. In case you forgot, I’m not entirely human, so don’t worry. Sleep."
Chloe smiled at him for a second, then shook her head gently.
"Whatever you are physically doesn’t matter. All I know is that you are still human at heart."
Blushing slightly at her own words, she turned around and placed her jacket carefully on the ground before laying down on it.
«What a sweet girl,» Bruce comnted in the boy’s mind.
’Really?’
«Now find a way to eliminate her,» the werewolf snarled in Ray’s mind with a deep, dark chuckle.
Ray wanted to argue with him but chose to ignore it instead, turning around to face the steep edge of the hill.
’System, what did I get for defeating that beast?’

’Hmph. So no first-ti bonus for defeating them? Which ans because I had already beaten the King-rank beast of the sa species, it doesn’t register for the bonus anymore.’

Placing his head in his palms, he peeked through his fingers before turning around for a mont to look at the girls who were sleeping... probably.
His gaze lingered on Trisha’s back, his mind recalling her exact words over and over again.
Then, he turned back to look at the beasts for a few seconds.
’Co to think of it, I don’t think her proposition was that bad. If I was alone, defeating a King-rank beast would have been difficult, yeah?’
«But you aren’t alone. You have Bruce and ,» Elyon chid in, breaking his silence.
’Even with Bruce going full werewolf, he still needed the help of Trisha and Felix to defeat that Minotaur that day, right?’
«Ohoy~! Don’t bla , you idiotic human. It was because your physical vessel was too weak, you fool,» Bruce growled back.
’The point is, I think this world has its advantages. It could be an incredible training ground.
We could be hunting more beasts. King-rank beasts give significantly more EXP than Advanced-rank beasts, right? If we defeated more while searching for the others, we could get stronger than ever before. And who knows, I might just evolve.’
«Wait. Don’t tell that you are actually entertaining that silly idea,» Elyon uttered worriedly.
But Ray just looked down at his hands, at his current level indicator, and then at the titans roaming down below.
His hands shook for a brief second before settling back down, his expression hardening with absolute resolve.
’As Trisha would say... it’s just a King-rank beast.’
