In the twenty-sixth minute Atalanta enjoyed their longest spell of sustained possession as the ball moved from Musso to Tolói to Demiral to Djimsiti before returning to De Roon who had dropped between the center-backs to create a nurical advantage in the build-up.
De Roon’s pass went forward to Koopiners who was positioned centrally with space to turn because del had been drawn slightly wide by Malinovskyi’s movent, and the Dutch midfielder’s first touch opened his body toward the attacking third where Demien had positioned himself twenty yards from Bologna’s goal.
Two Bologna midfielders closed imdiately as Koopiners prepared to pass, and his weight shifted right while his body shape suggested the pass would go wide toward Hateboer, and del adjusted his position to cut off that passing lane.
But Koopiners’ actual pass ca with a different angle as his foot struck through the ball vertically into the channel between Bologna’s right-back Stefan Posch and center-back Jhon Lucumí where Lookman had tid his run perfectly to stay onside by half a yard.

The pass threaded through the gap with perfect weight and Lookman ran onto it without breaking stride, and his first touch took him into the penalty area while Posch recovered desperately from his original position.
Lucumí ca across to close the angle while Bologna’s goalkeeper Łukasz Skorupski rushed off his line to narrow the shooting space, and when Lookman struck the shot with his right foot from twelve yards Posch slid desperately with his leg extended.
The ball hit Posch’s shin and deflected high into the air before falling beyond the byline for a corner, and the stadium rose collectively before exhaling when the danger passed without the ball reaching the goal.
"Close! Atalanta’s best chance so far—that vertical pass splits the defense perfectly but the recovery is excellent from Posch. Brave defending to get his body in the way."
Atalanta’s players prepared to take the corner while Bologna organized their defensive setup with all eleven players back inside their own penalty area, and Malinovskyi stood over the ball while his teammates took positions across the eighteen-yard box.
The delivery ca toward the near post with pace and Højlund attacked it aggressively, but del got there first and his header cleared the ball only as far as the edge of the penalty area where it fell to De Roon.
The Dutch midfielder controlled it with his chest and his volley ca quickly, but Arnautovic threw his body in the way and the ball deflected harmlessly wide for a throw-in.

In the thirty-fourth minute Bologna created their best spell of sustained possession as Skorupski’s goal kick was headed down by Arnautovic toward Zirkzee who had dropped between Atalanta’s midfield and defensive lines.
The young Dutch striker controlled it with his chest and turned while De Roon closed from behind, and his pass went right toward Musa Barrow who had positioned himself in the right half-space.
Barrow’s first touch took him forward two yards and his second touch played the ball inside toward Dominguez who had continued his run from deep, and the Argentine midfielder drove forward while Atalanta’s defensive shape began retreating toward their own penalty area.
Koopiners tracked Dominguez’s run and forced him slightly wider than he wanted, and when the pass ca toward Orsolini on the left wing Mæhle was already closing from his left-back position.
Orsolini controlled it and cut inside sharply onto his left foot, and his cross ca low toward the penalty spot where Arnautovic and Zirkzee were both making runs across Atalanta’s defensive line.
But Djimsiti read the trajectory and stepped across to intercept before either Bologna striker could reach it, and his clearance went high toward the halfway line where it fell to del.
The Chilean midfielder controlled it with his first touch and imdiately looked to play forward again, and his pass went diagonally toward the left channel where Orsolini was making another run behind Hateboer’s position.
Demien had tracked back from his advanced position to help defend the transition, and he read the pass trajectory before it was fully struck while positioning himself between the ball and Orsolini’s run.
He stepped in early with his timing perfect, and his right foot intercepted the ball cleanly before it could reach Orsolini, and the interception broke Bologna’s attacking montum before it could develop into danger.

Demien’s next touch played the ball imdiately to Koopiners who was positioned ten yards ahead offering support, and the quick release prevented Bologna’s midfielders from closing down and forcing a turnover in dangerous territory.
The comntary acknowledged the defensive work briefly without dwelling on it.
"Good reading there to step across and cut that out. Prevents what could have been a dangerous situation with Orsolini running into space behind the defense."

As the half wore on the physicality increased as Bologna tested Atalanta’s midfield with challenges that rode the line between clean and cynical, and in the forty-third minute Demien received a pass from Tolói in the center circle with del closing imdiately from behind.
His first touch took the ball slightly right while his body opened toward the attacking half, and his second touch prepared to play the pass forward toward Lookman who had checked back to offer support.
del’s challenge ca late as Demien released the ball, and the Chilean’s shoulder drove into Demien’s back while his leg caught Demien’s ankle after the pass had been completed.
The contact knocked Demien forward two steps but his balance—77 attribute—and strength—87 attribute—allowed him to stay upright rather than falling, and the referee’s whistle didn’t blow because the contact had co marginally after the ball was gone and Demien had maintained possession through the sequence.
The pass reached Lookman cleanly despite the challenge, and play continued while Demien recovered his positioning without complaint.
In the forty-fourth minute Atalanta created their final opportunity of the half when Djimsiti won an aerial duel in midfield and the second ball fell to Koopiners who collected it cleanly before looking up.
His eyes found Malinovskyi positioned wide on the right touchline forty yards from Bologna’s goal, and the pass ca diagonally with perfect weight over Bologna’s defensive block.

The fifty-yard diagonal ball traveled with pace and accuracy, and Malinovskyi controlled it with his first touch while Lykogiannis scrambled across to close him down from his left-back position.
Malinovskyi’s second touch took him toward the byline and his third touch delivered a cross toward the near post where Højlund was arriving ahead of Lucumí, but Bologna’s center-back got his head to the ball first and cleared it powerfully.
The clearance flew toward the halfway line and fell to del who controlled it and imdiately launched another Bologna counter, but Djimsiti intercepted the forward pass before it could reach Arnautovic and play broke down.
The referee glanced at his watch and raised his whistle after checking the ti.

HALFTI: ATALANTA 0-0 BOLOGNA
The whistle blew and applause rolled around the stadium—not frustration but understanding—and both teams walked toward the tunnel knowing the balance was delicate and tactical.
Bologna had shown they could hurt Atalanta through quick transitions when interceptions created space, and Orsolini’s early strike that Musso saved proved their counter-attacking threat was genuine rather than theoretical.
Atalanta had shown they could control possession and create half-chances through patient circulation, and Lookman’s opportunity from Koopiners’ threaded pass demonstrated that gaps existed in Bologna’s compact block when the timing was perfect.
Nothing was decided and everything remained alive, and the second half would continue the tactical chess match with both teams understanding that patience mattered more than urgency in semifinal football where aggregate score across two legs determined progression.
