Xue Dili: "..."

Old Deng, were you doing sothing quite impolite just now?

"May I take a look at your glasses?"

"Uh... okay." The old gentleman was a bit flattered and handed over his monocle, then imdiately turned his head away again.

Xue Dili picked up the glasses and took a look. Wow, the old gentleman's facial features completely disappeared, turning him into a faceless person, and when he took out his phone to use the front cara to look at his face, he too beca faceless behind the lens.

What a magical pair of glasses. Didn't he just add a gear to them physically? How did this unscientific phenonon suddenly occur?

Not only is it unscientific, but it's also not magic. Xue Dili couldn't feel any magic power fluctuating from it.

Is this mysticism? Interesting.

Just by observing the gentleman's attire, Xue Dili felt he seed to be a modern person or not too far from modern tis, so Xue Dili returned the monocle and asked, "Sir, how many years has it been since the birth of Jesus?"

The old gentleman was taken aback, and then realized what Xue Dili was trying to express, and quickly said, "It's been 2026 years since the birth of Jesus."

Boston in 2026?

Wait, 2026?

Where did the ti traveler co from?

Xue Dili imdiately realized that things weren't simple; this old man might not be from his tiline but from the future. It felt too tiring to chat with the old gentleman like this, pulling for a long ti just to get so intelligence.

So he imdiately stopped acting and laid it all out. The next mont, fantasy manifestation was displayed; from thin air in front of them appeared a set of table and chairs, and then a werewolf stood in front of the table, holding a tray with one hand and the other hand behind his back, like a butler.

The werewolf wasn't life-given; it could be seen as a flesh and blood robot at this mont.

This scene of fantasy manifestation imdiately stunned the old gentleman. He seed too shocked to speak, and after Xue Dili gestured for him to sit down, the old gentleman sat down in a panic, saying, "Sir, could it be that you're the legendary mage? Completely different from us trick-playing mystics."

"You can think so, sir. I now want to roughly know what happened on your side, and the situation of mysticism." Xue Dili decided to be honest about his purpose.

At this point, the old gentleman seed relieved, and he imdiately began pouring out information like spilling beans.

...

The old gentleman was a mystic scholar, part of a group researching folklore, ancient cultures, and various strange knowledge, and it seems they did figure out so things.

Mysticism, through specific rituals and preparations, can create "tricks" that reflect at specific tis.

He called his ability a "trick." Indeed, Xue Dili found mysticism incredibly demanding in terms of ritual complexity, precision, and requirents, and the achieved effects were generally weak.

So, after seeing real magic, he naturally realized his mysticism knowledge was just so trickery.

But Xue Dili was quite impressed, as these mystics really managed to co up with rituals that don't require magic power on a magicless Earth and have established it as an independent discipline that spreads.

Essentially, mysticism exploits a loophole in Blue Star, an approach to magic rituals that doesn't rely on magic power.

That's why Xue Dili found it fascinating; he learned a lot about mysticism from the old gentleman's mouth, including a lot of "ancient gods" and folklore, hypotheses about the disappearance of the classical divine era, and the birth of mysticism.

He wasn't from Boston, but a famous mystic scholar from Wudu, who received an invitation and went to Boston Salem Town in the Land of the Far West to prepare for a large-scale mystical ceremony, seemingly related to so war.

But his mory stopped there. He only rembered participating in that super-large mystical ceremony, but the specifics of what he did and all subsequent mories were completely gone.

Xue Dili leaned back tactically.

He might have died in that super-large mystical ceremony, but seeing his current clueless state, being confused even about himself, Xue Dili confird he couldn't get more details about the mystical ceremony from him.

But since mysticism is just a discipline for using magic rituals in a magicless context, specific to Blue Star, it shouldn't have overly outrageous rituals, or else even Mom wouldn't allow it.

So the upper limit of mysticism was probably just that.

However, the old gentleman's abundance of hidden knowledge deeply impressed Xue Dili, especially the folklore knowledge of various civilizations and those ancient little stories that seed more like "unofficial history," opening Xue Dili's eyes.

Until the old gentleman said, "We've been researching the disappearance of the divine era. It's strange that globally, around 1000 BC, the divine era disappeared. That was precisely the end of the Ancient Greek divine era, the end of the Shang Dynasty in the East, aligning roughly with the ti myths disappeared in civilizations worldwide."

"Even King Solomon, the future mystic king, is just the mystic king, not the Magic King."

"But later, we found decisive evidence!"

The old gentleman beca very excited, and Xue Dili was afraid the monocle would poke into his eye socket.

"That's the discovery of Hor's Epic. We roughly understood the reason for the end of the divine era. According to the epic, the end of the divine era stemd from Zeus's failure to steal God's authority. According to the epic, the hero Xediles defeated Zeus with a stone, ending the apocalypse, and terminating the divine era..."

"Pfft!"

Tea spewed from Xue Dili's mouth onto the werewolf butler beside him. The werewolf butler remained expressionless, faithfully executing his commands like a real robot.

But Xue Dili choked directly, continuously coughing, not even caring if, to the mystic scholar, his image seed to have collapsed.

"Sir, is there so problem?" the old gentleman imdiately asked with concern. He couldn't imagine why this "god," who could create things out of thin air, would choke on tea.

"No, nothing... the epic records in your world are truly ridiculous..." Xue Dili complained.

Hearing "Epic of Xediles" seriously ntioned by soone from Blue Star, rather than jokingly like a movie character, gave him a bad premonition.

"Your world's Hor's Epic, tell more about it," Xue Dili urged.

He couldn't imagine what mythical creatures were in this world from the future. Now if they ntioned a giant sitting on a golden toilet, Xue Dili would be inclined to believe it.

The old gentleman adjusted his monocle and began to speak slowly about the ancient epic he had collected: "According to the epic, the hero Xediles led the Celestial Thunder in a final battle with God King Zeus and defeated Zeus with a stone, ending the divine era. From then on, the Great Source Magic Power beca invisible, and we mystics could only use small-source magic power to perform rituals."

Xue Dili: "..."

The place I ca to is definitely not the historical Blue Star, but the future of a parallel world where Xue Dili changed history...

But wasn't that world rged by Mom? It should have disappeared already.

Xue Dili's eyes were full of confusion, believing only half of the old gentleman's intelligence because the other half might be due to his unreliable source of information.

And how does this epic seem to have the flavor of gratitude essay, could the records of the divine era passed down to the present really be so ridiculously distorted?
