At this mont, he even had the impulse to kill this Duke, whose ancestors had deep ties with the royal family, right where they stood. Simultaneously, he resented the second son of the Count’s family in his heart.

Vile bastard, disgusting thing, must you persist with this young lady of the Count’s family? Damn it, what do you amount to!

...

anwhile, in Xue Dili’s embrace, Lana finally awakened. Although her head still hurt, seeing the tense scene before her, and the Blood Duke’s direct stare, she quickly grasped the situation.

She connected it to the day’s earlier harassnt and imdiately understood, her face turning pale.

"Don’t worry, I’ll handle it." Xue Dili lowered the Holy Light Defense Barrier and silently adjusted his glasses.

For so reason, this young lady of the Count’s family retrieved her proud, swan-like deanor, rely responding with a silent "Mm..."

At this mont, the Prince stood behind Xue Dili alongside the Palace Mage, declaring their stance.

Both publicly and privately, the Prince had to side with Xue Dili. After all, this was outright humiliation from the Duke’s family, without giving him, the Prince, any face.

If he were to cower here and couldn’t protect a girl from the Count’s family, where would his dignity be? Where would his royal authority as the future Emperor lie?

If he couldn’t even protect the daughter of a Count, how could others who followed him believe he could protect them?

Therefore, he had to stand by Xue Dili’s side, even if it ant instigating this civil war again.

The Blood Duke frowned at this farce. Honestly, he hadn’t wanted it to escalate to this, and he wondered if his boy from back ho had lost his mind, being so fixated on Lana, insisting on having her.

But he couldn’t defy the contract; it didn’t affect his interests. He thought little of the girl from the Count’s family, just a minor figure. If she were taken, so be it. He didn’t believe the girl or that mad Viscount could say anything.

Yet he now found himself roasted on the fire, with no one showing him respect. He dismissed the contract, looking arrogantly at Xue Dili, regarding him as a re insignificant Viscount, while his battle spirit surged. As a Berserker, his muscles were starting to affect his brain.

"Heh, have you all joined forces? Don’t say I’m bullying the weak; bring it on together. Rest assured, it won’t take much of your ti," the Blood Duke sneered, baring his teeth. It had been a long ti since he’d had a fight and he wondered just how much ttle these re vassals of Earl and Viscount families had.

Similarly, it had been ages since he’d fought, ages since he’d felt exhilaration!

...

One minute later...

The Blood Duke lay on the ground, his body neatly severed at the waist. His lower half still stood, but his upper half, bleeding, had fallen, his eyes struggling to gaze at the moon in the sky.

"The newer generations surpass my imagination. I apologize for not making you exert all your strength..." The Blood Duke, now only an upper torso, managed to cough up blood as he felt his contract loosening, sensing his imminent dissolution...

"That kid seems to be tainted by sothing unusual, be careful." As if at death’s door, the Blood Duke, who monts ago appeared so keen for battle, divulged so information.

"We’ve known about this for a while, which is why we sought out the Mad Viscount to resolve it. We hadn’t expected an old fossil like you to actually be bound by a contract." The Pirate Woman spoke. She had so ties to the Blood Duke, being a distant relative at most.

They also suspected that the Blood Duke, as a Berserker, just wanted an excuse to enjoy a fight but didn’t expect to be halved instantly by a Space Slash.

Xue Dili silently retracted the Dinsional Blade in his hand, observing the bisected Duke.

The Minstrel, sensing the situation’s direness, had already fled, while the Archer imdiately pursued to hunt him down.

"Farewell, should the chance arise, let’s fight again. Next ti, I shall force you to give it your all..." The Blood Duke seed to whisper his last words, his spirit dissolving entirely.

At the scene, all that remained was a corpse severed at the waist, just material for summoning the Heroic Spirit Descent.
