Chapter 110 - Balance

The next day.

Chen Ran was in a good mood.

When going to work, he specially bought a bottle of beverage. When he ran into Lin Fan, he conveniently handed it to him.

Lin Fan took the water, stunned, and asked, "What is this for?"

Chen Ran was usually quite generous, treating people to water during the lunch break and such, but it was early in the morning and a cold day, so he wasn't thirsty either.

Chen Ran smiled and said, "The private kitchen you recomnded tastes quite good. This is a thank-you gift."

"Private kitchen?" Lin Fan didn't react at first.

After mulling it over carefully, his whole mood instantly soured.

For such a relatively remote place, Chen Ran definitely couldn't have gone alone. Seeing his happy appearance, one could figure it out without even using their brain.

That was a place he had gone to during a blind date. In the end, the blind date didn't work out, and he only rembered that the private kitchen's food was decent.

This contrast, this disparity, made Lin Fan feel a pang of sorrow.

"It's fine, it's fine. I can also find that girl whose eyes are full of ," Lin Fan comforted himself in his heart.

But thinking that he was already twenty-nine, this sadness just couldn't be stopped, and it wasn't until work officially started that he recovered.

Chen Ran was called over by Director Yang regarding the matter of the tropolitan Channel's program.

Because the proposal was written by Chen Ran, they wanted him to go over and help out.

Chen Ran nodded in agreent. Since he wrote the program out, he definitely hoped it could be done well.

The tropolitan Channel moved very quickly. Because of the revamp, the program had to be expedited, and so people in the ‘True Feelings’ program crew didn't even rest during the New Year.

This was Chen Ran's first ti coming to this channel. He didn't know most of the people; a small portion he had only seen on the way to work and found them sowhat familiar.

He didn't know the others, but the others knew him.

Having won an award at the annual eting, coupled with this highly recognizable face, he was still quite easy to spot.

The guys here had a nice way with words; they had been praising Chen Ran non-stop ever since they saw him.

If Chen Ran didn't know his own asure, he probably would have gotten completely carried away by now.

Only after a round of complints did they get down to work.

"Actually, it's just so issues with the program. We know the selling points of the program, and we are working hard in this direction, but on the moral level..."

The chief planner voiced his own views and concerns.

This was essentially putting people's privacy on the table to talk about, so these problems were always unavoidable.

Chen Ran had naturally considered this. On Earth, ever since this type of program started broadcasting, it had been in a state of polarization in terms of public opinion.

One side felt the program was quite good, using other people's experiences to give the audience warnings and inspiration, to avoid such conflicts in life.

The other side felt that the TV station putting this kind of personal privacy in front of the public just to attract eyeballs was an immoral and bottomless behavior.

And back then, this type of program indeed leaned towards the latter. It failed to achieve the original intention of the program to provide warnings.

Various interruptions, debates, and guidance—from tossing out suspense at the beginning to intensifying conflicts and magnifying the dark side of human nature—these thods also changed the flavor of the program.

Back in those years, the programs of this type that got suspended weren't just one or two.

Regarding this, Chen Ran could only say that grasping the right balance was key.

The reason he chose ‘True Feelings’ was because it grasped this balance quite well among this type of program. So problems were unavoidable, but it didn't cross the moral bottom line.

Chen Ran spent the entire day at the tropolitan Channel, discussing scenarios with the program crew.

When evening ca, Chen Ran found that his phone hadn't rung, and felt slightly disappointed.

He didn't go to the Zhang family ho. Yesterday he had acted a bit proactively, and he didn't want to put too much pressure on Zhang Fanzhi; he wanted to let her catch her breath.

But he didn't expect that when chatting with Zhang Fanzhi at night, he would receive a piece of news that left him stunned.

"I'm going back to Huahai tomorrow."

His breathing paused. He waited for a good while before snapping back to reality and asked, "Didn't you say you were going to wait for the company's notice?"

"There's a new song, I have to go take a look."

Zhang Fanzhi replied very concisely. Chen Ran looked at these few words in a daze.

Her leaving so soon was sothing Chen Ran hadn't expected.

After so pondering before the New Year, he knew his own feelings and planned to slowly increase his weight in Zhang Fanzhi's heart during this period after the New Year.

But, it's only been a few days, hasn't it?

Chen Ran tugged at his hair, feeling sowhat upset in his heart.

Was it because he had acted a bit too eagerly these past two days?

The Zhang Fanzhi he knew was a single-minded person. Because she wanted to sing, she had worked hard for it all the way from junior high and high school through college.

All her efforts were directed toward advancing toward her goal. People like this were rare, and they were not easily influenced by external factors.

He hadn't planned to accomplish everything in one stroke; he just wanted to use this period of ti to foster their relationship.

Now, however, he felt he had miscalculated. The new song might be real, but the new year had just started. Unless the company had an announcent, there was no need to rush back.

Was she trying to escape?

That night, Chen Ran felt a bit stifled in his heart and couldn't sleep. He picked up his phone, wanting to send a ssage to Zhang Fanzhi, but didn't know what to say. He could only put the phone aside and stare blankly at the ceiling.

At the sa ti, at the Zhang family ho.

Zhang Fanzhi hadn't fallen asleep either. In the darkness, she leaned against the headboard, looking at her phone without uttering a single word.

Outside, Zhang Ruyi was calling at the door, wanting to co in. Zhang Fanzhi only said she was asleep, and then didn't make another sound.

"What's going on?" Zhang Ruyi was slightly bewildered, not knowing what was wrong with her sister.

……

When he went to work the next day, Chen Ran was noticeably sowhat absent-minded.

He was fine when discussing work, but as soon as he had free ti, he would space out a bit.

Lin Fan was slightly puzzled. He had been beaming with happiness just yesterday, how co he had changed today?

"What's wrong, are you in a bad mood today?" Lin Fan finally asked.

Chen Ran snapped back to reality and shook his head: "No."

Lin Fan was speechless. His face was completely written with the fact that he had things on his mind, yet he still said no.

He pondered for a mont and felt that Chen Ran might be having a conflict with his girlfriend.

He had seen this kind of situation quite a lot. In the past, when his college roommates had conflicts with their girlfriends, they also wore this exact expression.

Lin Fan comforted him: "It's normal to have conflicts with your girlfriend. Sotis both sides need to calm down a bit. Setting it aside for a couple of days before communicating is much better than trying to reason when you're in a fit of anger!"

Chen Ran shot him a glance. Where did this guy comprehend this kind of logic from?

Lin Fan added: "Really, people always say couples fight at the head of the bed and make up at the foot of the bed. It's just like that. Just wait for her to calm down a bit, and then go coax her, and it will be fine."

"Actually, trying to reason with a woman is useless. You have to coax her. After all, she is here to date you, not to look for an opposing debater..."

Lin Fan kept chattering non-stop on the side, and Chen Ran rubbed the space between his eyebrows.

The things this guy was saying were completely off the mark. Hearing him say he had never been in a relationship, where did he get such weird and bizarre theories?

The more he spoke, the more outrageous it got. Even though Chen Ran was in a bad mood, he still found it amusing to listen to.

Being disturbed by him like this, his mood actually relaxed a bit. It was just that thinking about Zhang Fanzhi leaving, he couldn't help but feel a bit depressed.

Actually, he had pondered for half the night, and thinking about it now, he also felt that there was a problem with his train of thought.

There was no need to be so anxious and force Zhang Fanzhi into a dilemma of making a difficult choice.

Choosing one out of two, black or white; this was too absolute.

Singing and dating, and even getting married...

If possible, he could find a balance between them.
