Chapter 126 - A Lie

The Zhang family ho.

Tao Lin and Xiao Qin were both there.

The two originally wanted to go to the hotel after Zhang Fanzhi left; after all, interacting with Aunt Yun felt a bit strange.

But they couldn't withstand Aunt Yun's constant persuasion, making them stay for dinner.

Aunt Yun mainly considered that Tao Lin had always taken good care of her daughter, and Xiao Qin even more so, running around busily following Zhang Fanzhi.

Both had co to the house several tis but had never stayed for a al, which she felt was sowhat unjustifiable.

Seeing Aunt Yun busy in the kitchen, Xiao Qin couldn't sit still and ran in to help, leaving only Tao Lin sitting in the living room.

Knock, knock, knock.

Soone was knocking on the door outside.

Tao Lin glanced at the kitchen. The range hood inside was loud, so she guessed they couldn't hear it. After hesitating for a mont, she went over to open the door.

With a click, the door opened.

Seeing Zhang Fanzhi and Chen Ran outside the door, Tao Lin froze on the spot, staring wide-eyed at the two of them.

Chen Ran was fine; he knew Tao Lin was at the Zhang family ho, so he wasn't surprised. But why did both Zhang Fanzhi and Tao Lin look so surprised?

"Why haven't you left yet? Didn't you say you were busy getting back to the hotel?" Zhang Fanzhi's daze was very short. After recovering, she asked, feigning calmness.

Tao Lin was blank for a mont, then reacted:

"No, whether I leave or not is one thing, but didn't you just say Uncle's car broke down and you went to pick him up? How co I don't see Uncle, and you pulled Chen Ran back instead?"

Hearing Tao Lin's words, Chen Ran was also dumbfounded. So that was the excuse Zhang Fanzhi used to go out.

Zhang Fanzhi's earlobes visibly flushed pink, but her face showed no flaws. She first bypassed Tao Lin to enter the door, and while lowering her head to change her shoes, she said,

"My dad is with Chen Ran. He still has to wait a while to finish up, so I ca back with Chen Ran first."

This explanation was normal. After all, a car breaking down didn't an you just picked the person up and ignored the rest; you still had to wait for the car to be towed for repairs.

But Tao Lin didn't quite believe it. After all, Zhang Fanzhi went to pick up her dad, so she should wait no matter what, right? What was the deal with picking up Chen Ran and coming back?

She was sowhat suspicious in her heart. It couldn't be that Zhang Fanzhi went out specifically to pick up Chen Ran, right?

Thinking carefully, the two hadn't had much contact recently. It shouldn't have reached this stage, right?

Moreover, in her impression, Zhang Fanzhi was a very reserved person, a bit stubborn, or to put it bluntly, desperately cared about face. Making her take the initiative to pick soone up wasn't in her character.

Chen Ran inconspicuously glanced at Zhang Fanzhi. No wonder she went to the TV station; it turned out she had found such an excuse. Plus, she thought that once she left, Tao Lin would also head to the hotel. That way, when they returned, Chen Ran wouldn't run into Tao Lin, and they wouldn't need to explain anything.

Who knew Tao Lin hadn't left...

This was a bit awkward.

"Sister Lin." Chen Ran first greeted Tao Lin before saying,

"Uncle is still handling the car situation. Because I've written a song here and was anxious to communicate with Zhizhi about it, we ca back first."

Chen Ran spoke extrely naturally, without changing his expression.

Looking at this sincere, handso face, and adding the fact that it was because of a song, Tao Lin sowhat believed it.

How the quality of Chen Ran's song was last ti had been verified by the market and was obvious to all. Zhang Fanzhi sang 'Initial Dream', reaping a bountiful harvest in both reputation and popularity.

Classics are not easily born, but with Chen Ran having written such a song, his subsequent creations were highly anticipated.

Tao Lin didn't want Chen Ran and Zhang Fanzhi to have too much contact, feeling that even if they were to interact, it shouldn't be now. But with him writing songs, she truly couldn't say much.

Zhang Fanzhi was originally a bit unnatural, but seeing Chen Ran telling lies so solemnly, she couldn't help but blink her eyes.

The three had just sat for a while, and Chen Ran and Zhang Fanzhi were planning to go into the room to write the song.

But at this ti, Director Zhang also returned.

Seeing Tao Lin, he chuckled heartily: "Little Tao, you're here too."

Tao Lin stood up and greeted Director Zhang.

Chen Ran abruptly stood up and braced himself, saying, "Uncle, has your car been taken care of?"

At his age, Director Zhang was shrewd.

Seeing Chen Ran's unnatural expression and realizing Tao Lin was here, he figured his daughter must have used an excuse to go out.

Smiling, he picked up the conversation thread and said, "Yes, it's been taken care of. Chen Ran, I have a little sothing regarding the program. Co with to the study for a mont."

Chen Ran followed behind Director Zhang, breathing a sigh of relief in his heart. Once one lie is told, countless lies are needed to cover it up. Looking at this situation, one careless mont and the truth would be exposed.

Director Zhang asking Chen Ran to go to the study to discuss things was fake; getting to the bottom of the situation was the truth.

After all, Chen Ran had already gone to the satellite TV channel. What program matters could he, being in the public channel, possibly have to discuss?

Upon hearing that the excuse Zhang Fanzhi used was that his car broke down, Director Zhang didn't know whether to laugh or cry:

"This girl really doesn't know how to lie, couldn't she find a better reason? Just saying I left my docunts at ho, need them urgently for a eting now, and she has to deliver them would have been fine. How simple is that!"

Then Director Zhang added, "Besides, going to the TV station to pick you up doesn't require lying. You two are dating openly and aboveboard. Zhizhi's mom and I both agree to it. Even if Little Tao knows, it's no big deal!"

Anyway, Director Zhang's internal thought was that it would be best if his daughter stopped being a singer, so he was sowhat uncomprehending.

"Zhizhi likes singing. She hasn't stabilized yet right now. If it's exposed that she's dating, it will have a huge impact on her work. It will be fine after so ti passes," Chen Ran explained.

Director Zhang glanced at Chen Ran, knowing he had a good temper, and imdiately waved his hand, saying,

"Now that you and Zhizhi are together, this matter is your own business, you guys discuss it yourselves."

……

During dinner, Tao Lin even asked Director Zhang about the car breaking down. Aside from finding a topic to chat about, she presumably also had so doubts in her heart.

Chen Ran had just corroborated his story with Director Zhang, so his answers now were watertight.

Aunt Yun listened from the side, looked at her daughter and Chen Ran, then looked at her husband, and ate her al slowly and thodically without speaking.

Tao Lin and Xiao Qin originally wanted to return to the hotel after dinner, but knowing Chen Ran and Zhang Fanzhi were going to write a song, they couldn't help but stay to watch for a while.

Seeing that it was Chen Ran writing the lyrics first, and then humming the lody for Zhang Fanzhi to write the sheet music, Tao Lin was sowhat dumbfounded.

Starry Sky is a music company that also does artist managent. She had managed quite a few singers and the musicians she had co into contact with numbered eighty if not a hundred, but she truly had never seen soone like Chen Ran.

She had heard in the past about an old senior in creative work who couldn't read sheet music and would hum while creating, letting others note down the lody.

She had always thought this was fake, an erroneous rumor spread from person to person. Now seeing Chen Ran, it had broadened her horizons.

After watching for a long ti, when Chen Ran and Zhang Fanzhi were resting, she couldn't help but ask, "Is this how you wrote 'Initial Dream' too?"

"I can't read sheet music, so I can only have Zhizhi write it down." Chen Ran nodded.

Tao Lin's eyes were truly opened wide. If she were to speak of this matter to the outside world, probably not many people would believe it.

To the side, Zhang Fanzhi didn't make much of a sound, continuously staring blankly at the lyrics.

It was getting a bit late. Chen Ran and Zhang Fanzhi were still continuing to write the song, striving to be able to finish writing it by tomorrow night.

And since Tao Lin and Xiao Qin had to return to the hotel, they left the Zhang family ho first.

When they arrived downstairs, Tao Lin saw that there were two cars in the Zhang family's parking spaces. She couldn't help but ask:

"Xiao Qin, co take a look, is this Xiyun's dad's car?"

Xiao Qin took a look and was slightly dazed, then hurriedly shook her head and said:

"No, the brand is the sa, but the license plate number is different. It seems to be the car of Sister Xiyun's neighbor. Her neighbor frequently occupies her family's parking space; last ti she even drove her car directly into it."

Tao Lin nodded, no longer suspicious.

She had heard Xiao Qin ntion this matter a few tis, and she had even lectured Zhang Fanzhi, saying that public figures need to be careful and not have a hot temper when handling these kinds of situations.

Xiao Qin breathed a slight sigh of relief, thinking in her heart: Sister Xiyun, I can only help you up to here.
