Chapter 64 - Today Is Your Special Show

Chen Ran had also done part-ti jobs back then; he had spent his university days more or less like that.

If one wanted to balance studies, there was basically no ti for entertainnt; it was either studying or working.

He had ignored it for himself in the past, but now that his salary was sufficient, he hoped Chen Yao could properly enjoy her university life.

"You don't know the way. Xiao Qin and I will drop you off," Zhang Fanzhi said.

Chen Ran was slightly surprised. Before he could speak, he saw Tao Lin return from the restroom and ask,

"Xiyun, where are you going?"

Zhang Fanzhi said impassively, "Chen Ran needs to head out. I plan to have Xiao Qin drive him."

Tao Lin said, "Then let Xiao Qin take him. You co back to the company with first; there’s sothing to attend to."

Zhang Fanzhi’s face stiffened slightly.

"What could the company possibly have going on?"

"I’ll tell you later." Tao Lin’s expression was poor. She looked at Chen Ran but didn't say anything to him, only saying to Xiao Qin,

"Xiao Qin, you drop Chen Ran off. Your Sister Xiyun and I will leave first."

Xiao Qin hurriedly stood up and responded, "Okay, Sister Lin."

Zhang Fanzhi glanced at Chen Ran and could only leave with Tao Lin.

Seeing them go, Xiao Qin lightly patted her chest and let out a sigh of relief.

"Is Sister Lin that scary?" Chen Ran asked.

Xiao Qin nodded subconsciously, then reacted and shook her head quickly.

"No, no, Sister Lin is a very good person."

"Then why are you still so afraid of her?" Chen Ran was curious.

Xiao Qin said awkwardly, "Sister Lin and Sister Xiyun are too good to . I’m afraid of doing sothing wrong and letting them down."

Though Chen Ran didn't quite understand, he didn't continue asking to avoid making Xiao Qin feel embarrassed.

Xiao Qin asked, "Brother Chen Ran, where are you going? I'll drive you there."

Chen Ran said, "Then I’ll trouble you!"

Xiao Qin waved her hands hurriedly. "No trouble, no trouble at all."

Chen Ran found it sowhat amusing; she’s just like a rabbit.

……

In front of the Huahai University gates.

Chen Yao, carrying a guitar on her back, let out a yawn.

She had returned late last night and had been busy editing videos today, so she was a bit short on sleep.

She was thinking of coming back early today so she could get a good night's rest.

Just then, her phone rang.

Seeing the na on the caller ID, Chen Yao’s eyes widened, and she instantly snapped awake.

She thought to herself: Didn't we just talk on the phone a few days ago? Payday shouldn't be coming this quickly!

Answering the call, she asked cautiously, "Brother, is sothing wrong?"

"Are you at school?" Chen Ran asked.

Chen Yao gave an "mm."

Chen Ran asked, "Not working your part-ti job today?"

Chen Yao glanced at the guitar and said, "I’m just about to go!"

"Alright then, I’m almost at your school. Wait for a bit!"

Chen Ran’s words gave Chen Yao a jolt of fright. She hurriedly asked, "Brother, what did you say?"

Chen Ran said, " I’ve co to Huahai for so business, so I specifically ca over to see you. Wait for at school, or tell where your part-ti job is and I’ll go find you."

"No need, no need." Chen Yao was a bit anxious, her words becoming a bit jumbled.

"No need for what?" Chen Ran asked, puzzled.

Chen Yao took a deep breath and said calmly, "I an, Brother, you don't need to co. I still have a while before I go to my part-ti job."

Chen Ran said, "It’s fine. I just want to take a look; I haven't seen you in a long ti. You can co to the school gate now. I’ll be there soon."

"Then... alright then."

The call ended, and Chen Yao put her phone away with a stiff expression.

When she called her parents two days ago, she had heard that his work at the TV station was very busy; she never expected Chen Ran would co to Huahai.

What should she do now?

Chen Yao was a bit at a loss.

After a short while, a car drove over. Chen Ran saw his sister from afar and had Xiao Qin drive toward her.

A car suddenly stopping in front of her—and an expensive one at that—gave Chen Yao a fright.

Chen Ran opened the door and got out. When Chen Yao saw it was him, a flicker of panic appeared in her eyes before she steadied herself and called out:

"Brother."

"You really did buy a guitar!" Chen Ran looked at her outfit and asked, "Are you heading to your part-ti job now?"

Chen Yao nodded.

Chen Ran frowned.

"That’s not right. Today is Saturday; why aren't you going to your part-ti job during the day instead of at night?"

Chen Yao let out an "uh" and said stiffly, "Our leisure lounge’s business is only good at night."

"Then what are you doing with a guitar if you're just handing out flyers to attract custors?" Chen Ran asked curiously.

"I’m just bringing it along to practice when I have so free ti," Chen Yao said with a forced smile. Her gaze landed on the car behind him, and she hurriedly asked,

"Brother, whose car is this?"

Chen Ran glanced at it. Seeing that Xiao Qin was about to leave, he didn't feel like explaining much and said casually, "I hailed it on a ride-sharing app."

Chen Yao was slightly puzzled. Could one really hail a car of this caliber on a ride-sharing app?

At that mont, the girl inside the car reached out and called to Chen Ran, "Brother Chen Ran, I’m heading out now."

Chen Ran paused. He didn't understand why Xiao Qin couldn't just leave quietly; why did she have to shout like that?

Seeing his sister's questioning look, Chen Ran felt a bit awkward and explained, "My ID on that ride-sharing app is 'Brother Chen Ran.'"

Chen Yao was skeptical, but on second thought, Chen Ran had no motive to lie. She just thought that although Chen Ran usually seed serious, he actually had such quirky humor.

Chen Ran said, "Where is the place you're working? I'll go take a look with you. Anyway, I'm not going back to Lin City today."

Chen Yao stiffened and said weakly, "There's no need, Brother. That place is full of my classmates; I'd be embarrassed if you followed ."

"What’s there to be embarrassed about? I’m just concerned about you. If the work is too tiring, just stop doing it." Chen Ran said earnestly,

"My salary is decent now. After giving a portion to our family, I still have plenty left. You don't need to worry about living expenses; just focus on your studies."

Chen Yao thought to herself that this was exactly what she feared. She gathered her words and said, "Brother, my part-ti job isn't purely about earning money; it’s also a hobby of mine."

Chen Ran found it bizarre. "Handing out flyers to attract custors is a hobby?"

Chen Yao was slightly embarrassed and said defiantly, "Consider it a form of social experience."

She added, "Brother, you’ve only just started working. Keep your salary for yourself. You still need to date; expenses are quite high these days. If you keep giving money to , you won't have enough to buy gifts for a girlfriend!"

Chen Yao was actually soone with strong self-esteem.

Chen Ran had always sent her money, and she felt very uneasy about it in her heart. Especially knowing that Chen Ran had worked part-ti throughout university and still shared his earnings with her made her feel a heavy sense of debt.

Now that she could earn money herself, she naturally didn't want Chen Ran to transfer any to her.

"Besides, my part-ti pay is actually quite high. I bought my guitar with it. Aside from my living expenses, I can even send so back to Mom and Dad next month."

As Chen Yao spoke, she felt Chen Ran’s gaze turn strange. His eyes were filled with great doubt.

No—since when did handing out flyers pay so well?

A guitar worth hundreds, living expenses, and even enough to send ho.

Even if Chen Yao were working full-ti instead of part-ti, she wouldn't have that much money, right?

Chen Yao also realized the problem, and her voice gradually weakened until she didn’t dare look at Chen Ran anymore.

At that mont, a short-haired girl ran up from behind, patted Chen Yao on the shoulder, and said,

"Yaoyao, why are you still here? Today is your special show! None of the other singers ca. If you don't go, Boss Chen will be so angry he'll be hopping mad!"

As soon as she said this, Chen Yao was sowhat stunned.

Looking at Chen Ran again, his brows were knit together as he asked in confusion:

"Special show? Singer?"
