Chapter 72 - Swift and Decisive Director Liu
Director Liu kept Chen Ran behind, thinking that if he had any doubts about the program, he could ask him to clarify them.
But the proposal was written so clearly, he actually had nothing to ask.
Thinking of 'Challenge Sunday' that everyone had just discussed, Director Liu frowned slightly.
From his perspective, he leaned more towards 'Challenge Sunday'; after all, it was a completely new program.
It wasn't that 'Challenge the Microphone' was bad, but wouldn't its degree of overlap with 'I Love Rembering Lyrics' be too high?
Even if the gaplay was changed, it was still these sa people coming and going; wouldn't the audience get bored?
These were all things under consideration.
But 'Challenge the Microphone' had an incomparable advantage: it was fast!
Judging from the proposal, it could definitely be produced before Sunday, and the viewership ratings wouldn't be too bad either.
But Director Liu had other dilemmas, for example, would it affect 'I Love Rembering Lyrics'?
He couldn't make up his mind, and finally could only bring out the unique skill of leaders: when undecided, hold a eting.
"Your idea is very good, and it can indeed solve our urgent need, but everyone discussed 'Challenge Sunday', and the program isn't bad either. Choices have to be made. We will discuss it together later," Director Liu said to Chen Ran.
Chen Ran nodded, indicating no objections.
Based on his understanding of Director Liu, this program wasn't enough to amaze him to the point of imdiately finalizing it.
Now that the program was written out, he had made an effort; as for the outco, he would just have to see how everyone discussed it later.
Director Liu called his assistant over, and after copying the proposal, went into the conference room together with Chen Ran.
Everyone was already seated, each expressing their own opinions, discussing the details of 'Challenge Sunday'.
Seeing Director Liu co in, they all quieted down, their gazes focused on the docunts held in the assistant's hands.
Director Liu clapped his hands and said:
"Everyone stop for a mont. Chen Ran has written out his proposal; everyone take a look first, and we'll discuss it after you finish reading!"
Hearing the director say this, the expressions on everyone present were a bit curious.
Although they hadn't seen the proposal yet, the director had seen it and brought it out for discussion, which proved he approved of it and was torn between it and 'Challenge Sunday'.
They were curious in their hearts about what this program Chen Ran claid could be produced in a week looked like.
A mont later, the proposal docunts were distributed into everyone's hands.
The conference room fell silent.
Everyone was reading carefully.
Lin Fan was a little nervous. He thought the program was very good, but his own thoughts didn't count; it needed everyone's approval.
He had participated in writing this proposal, and worried about it being directly rejected by everyone.
Chen Ran appeared calm on the surface, but in his heart, he also wanted to hear what they had to say, and picked up his teacup to take a sip.
The conference room gradually went from quiet to having faint sounds of discussion.
"So it's actually like this..."
"I thought it was a completely new program, I didn't expect there to be this kind of approach."
"It's just 'I Love Rembering Lyrics' with a change in gaplay; if we start preparing this afternoon, an episode can indeed be produced..."
"The repetition with 'I Love Rembering Lyrics' is a bit too high; will the audience experience aesthetic fatigue?"
"It's highly entertaining, and it also emphasizes the segnt of interacting with the audience..."
Everyone's discussion grew louder and louder, but very unexpectedly, no one objected particularly vehently.
Director Liu clapped his hands. "Everyone has seen the program, now let's talk about your thoughts."
Everyone raised their heads, looking at Chen Ran one by one, as if trying to see right through him.
Director Wu Jin was the first to stand up and say,
"I stand with 'Challenge the Microphone'. The program's entertainnt value is quite good, it continues the characteristics of 'I Love Rembering Lyrics', has an audience base, and most importantly, the production cycle is short."
Director Liu nodded and asked, "What about the others?"
"I choose 'Challenge the Microphone'."
" too."
"Sa here."
"..."
Director Liu looked at the people agreeing one by one, and was suddenly stunned.
In his view, 'Challenge Sunday' was a program born from everyone's discussion, and 'Challenge the Microphone' didn't have too significant an advantage either.
Both sides should have been struggling just like him, or at least it should have been a fifty-fifty split.
How did it beco so one-sided?
There were those who chose 'Challenge Sunday', such as the few veterans who wanted to be the chief planner, as well as so people who shared the sa concerns as him, but they were ultimately in the minority.
Director Liu rubbed the space between his eyebrows; he still needed to ask Director Yang for his opinion.
……
Director Yang Qijun had a bit of a headache.
The matter with Fang Qingying's family wasn't very easy to handle. If it were just about money, it would be fine, but they weren't talking about money; they just wanted an explanation.
The station head had issued an order that the matter had to be resolved within two days, absolutely forbidding any escalation of public opinion.
"How did we get saddled with this kind of situation?" Yang Qijun sighed.
It wasn't just the problem with Fang Qingying's family; the station had also suffered heavy losses because of Fang Qingying, and all these matters needed to be dealt with.
He didn't know whether Fang Qingying was depressed or not, but Yang Qijun felt that if things went on like this, he was really going to get depressed.
"Director, we have a direction for the new program." Director Liu walked in.
Yang Qijun forced himself to perk up. This could be considered half a piece of good news, right?
But seeing the two proposals Director Liu set down, he frowned and asked:
"Why are there two? Didn't you reach a consensus internally?"
Director Liu replied, "We did discuss it. One was born from our internal discussion, and the other was created by Chen Ran."
"Chen Ran? Why isn't he focusing on 'I Love Rembering Lyrics' instead of joining in on the fun here?" Yang Qijun said.
"You need to pay more attention. Right now, absolutely nothing can go wrong with 'I Love Rembering Lyrics'."
Director Liu nodded repeatedly; he naturally understood this reasoning.
Although Yang Qijun said that, he still asked which one Chen Ran wrote, and then casually picked up 'Challenge the Microphone'.
After reading it, his expression shifted slightly, and his tense face relaxed a bit. A mont later, he read 'Challenge Sunday'.
"No need to choose. We'll just do Chen Ran's program." Director Yang made the decision directly without another word.
Director Liu said with slight conflict:
"Although 'Challenge the Microphone' has the advantage of speed and an audience base, it feels a bit repetitive compared to 'I Love Rembering Lyrics', so the risk is a bit high..."
Yang Qijun shook his head.
"Old Liu, you've already listed so many advantages, so why do you still say 'Challenge the Microphone' is highly risky? It has an audience base, it's entertaining, and it cos with natural promotion. Which of these points isn't stronger than 'Challenge Sunday'? The most crucial thing is the production speed. That alone is enough for to choose it!"
Director Liu listened, but he was still conflicted in his heart.
Yang Qijun said, "If you put this program up for internal discussion, I bet the vote was overwhelmingly in favor of 'Challenge the Microphone', right?"
Director Liu nodded.
Yang Qijun said, "Everyone else sees it clearly, yet you're still conflicted. To put it bluntly, you just lack confidence. You're afraid that having the sa production team handle two programs will affect 'I Love Rembering Lyrics'.
Actually, I'm worried too. I just said a mont ago that Chen Ran shouldn't join in on the fun and should just focus on his 'Rembering Lyrics'. But this proposal of his is indeed far better than 'Challenge Sunday'..."
He was opposed to Chen Ran doing other programs at this critical juncture, but Chen Ran's proposal was indeed the optimal choice.
Weighing the pros and cons, he naturally knew what to do.
Yang Qijun sighed inwardly: Director Liu was too indecisive. He was partially to bla for this current incident as well. If he had made up his mind to overhaul 'Qingying's Lecture' earlier, they wouldn't be facing this trouble right now.
Back in the day, he used to be a vigorous and resolute character too; it seed he had lost his drive.
