Jean Quincy was intimidated by his gaze and reflexively nodded.

Kevin Whitlock’s impression of Aurora Sinclair had already hit rock bottom.

Based on the evidence from the cri scene, she was the pri suspect.

Although the victim might have been the silver-haired fugitive they’d been pursuing, her vicious killing intent was enough to make anyone question her motives.

"What is your relationship?"

"She’s... my cousin..."

Kevin Whitlock frowned, his eyes flashing with anger. "Isn’t your cousin the Young Master of the Quincy Family?"

Jean Quincy trembled and said fearfully, "That’s my cousin from the core lineage..."

Kevin Whitlock sized her up for another mont before saying sharply, "Co give your statent."

Kevin Whitlock led Jean Quincy to the back of the house.

It had originally been a lounge with two rooms, an inner and an outer one, but it had been converted into a temporary interrogation room.

"What is Aurora Sinclair’s real Combat Power?"

Jean Quincy was terrified. She had never been treated so harshly in her entire life.

"I... don’t know..."

"Does she normally act unusually?"

"No... no..."

Kevin Whitlock’s expression was grim. He suddenly slamd one hand on the table and glared. "You’d better answer honestly. She’s currently a suspect in a preditated murder—"

The slam made Jean Quincy jump, and her eyes instantly welled with tears. Fighting back her fear, she stamred, "M-murder? Impossible! You’re mistaken, she could never kill soone..."

A sneer touched Kevin Whitlock’s lips. "It’s not like murderers have it written on their faces."

Jean Quincy bit her lip, shaking her head vehently. "She’s not a murderer..."

"She was the only one at the murder scene. The deceased injured her junior apprentice, so she clearly had a motive for revenge..."

"N-no, she wouldn’t..." Jean Quincy kept shaking her head, her body swaying as she tightly wrung the hem of her clothes.

A cruel smile suddenly spread across Kevin Whitlock’s face. He leaned forward, getting close to her ear, and lowered his voice. "How much do you really know about her? Aurora Sinclair is an absolute lunatic. She has a monster hidden inside her. The rumors about the Sinclair Family... they’re true."

Jean Quincy’s eyes flew wide open, as if she were petrified. Her face was paper-white, and her body trembled slightly.

Kevin Whitlock stood up and looked down at her, enunciating each word clearly. "For your own safety, you’d be wise to stay away from her."

anwhile, Marshall Shaw had finished listening to Aurora Sinclair’s full statent, his brow furrowed in deep thought.

Aurora Sinclair’s testimony wasn’t helping her. There were no caras at the scene, the ti of death was very recent, and the body had a dart belonging to the Young Master of the Quincy Family on it. Everything pointed to a story Aurora Sinclair had concocted to cover up a deliberate murder.

Just then, a subordinate’s voice ca from outside the door. "Chief, Consultant Morgan is here."

Marshall Shaw’s heart tightened. He glanced at Aurora Sinclair before standing up and heading outside.

A tall, slender figure stood outside, still wearing a white lab coat.

Thanks to Sunstone and Alvin Morgan, Aurora Sinclair had not been handcuffed.

Alvin Morgan walked straight up to her and gently touched her hair. "Are you hurt?"

Aurora Sinclair shook her head.

Alvin Morgan’s expression instantly softened. He took her hand, ready to leave, but Marshall Shaw blocked their path. "Young Lord Morgan, she can’t go yet."

Alvin Morgan’s expression grew cold. "I will get to the bottom of this."

"But headquarters has ordered that you are not to be involved in this case," Marshall Shaw replied, steeling himself.

Alvin Morgan froze. His gaze was glacial as he said coldly, "Are you sure? Any further delay, and the killer will escape."

A flicker of hope appeared in Marshall Shaw’s eyes. "You know who the killer is?"

Alvin Morgan glanced at Aurora Sinclair and said lightly, "Aurora knows."

Aurora Sinclair paused for a mont, then nodded. "I wounded him. My Power is inside his body."

Marshall Shaw’s expression changed slightly, his eyes filled with hesitation.

It was incredibly dangerous for a Martial Artist to have another’s Power forced into their body. If the host’s Power was stronger, it would simply crush the invading force. But if the host was weaker, they could suffer anything from internal injuries or the loss of their abilities to, in the worst cases, death.

This was how High Rank Martial Cultivators could control so Low Rank cultivators and even track them down through certain thods.

This young woman’s strength was indeed that of a High Rank Martial Artist; during her infamous outburst years ago, her Combat Power had reached the level of a Grandmaster.

Besides, he had a great deal of trust in the Morgans, and by extension, he trusted Alvin Morgan’s character.

Marshall Shaw gritted his teeth. "Are you sure you can find the killer?"

Aurora Sinclair nodded.

Marshall Shaw’s gaze hardened. "On Young Lord Morgan’s account, I’ll give you this chance."

’I’m staking my career on this,’ he thought. ’Worst case, I’ll take the fall and resign.’

Aurora Sinclair nodded again.

She led them back to the place where Sharon Quincy was injured.

Marshall Shaw was surprised. ’To prove her innocence, shouldn’t we go back to the murder scene? Why are we here?’

"Is there sothing wrong here?"

Aurora Sinclair pointed to a bloodstain on the leaves of a boxwood bush. "This isn’t the masked man’s blood."

Marshall Shaw’s expression was one of shock. "What do you an?"

They had already run a DNA test on that bloodstain and confird it belonged to the deceased. Otherwise, Kevin Whitlock wouldn’t have reported it to headquarters and requested that Alvin Morgan be barred from the case.

"His power is on par with mine. Even while fleeing at high speed, he could have kept a dart from getting anywhere near him."

"How do you know?"

"He is a Martial King."

Those words hit Marshall Shaw like a bomb, leaving his mind completely blank.

"You... what did you say?"

"A Martial King can project their Power from a distance. They can naturally control that Power to form a shield around their body. The dart could never have touched him," Aurora Sinclair replied calmly.

It took Marshall Shaw a long mont to recover before he could suppress his shock. "How do you know?"

Aurora Sinclair looked at him without answering. Instead, she reached out and, with a seemingly gentle flick of her finger, a "BANG!" echoed as a fist-sized hole appeared in the nearby boxwood bush.

Marshall Shaw flinched, almost falling to his knees. Fortunately, everyone else was standing a good distance away.

His eyes were now bulging, as if he’d been struck speechless, staring at the hole like a statue.

"If I were him, I wouldn’t have given Sharon Quincy the chance to throw a dart." Aurora Sinclair’s voice was calm, but for so reason, it sent a shiver down Marshall Shaw’s spine.

Just then, Alvin Morgan spoke up. "The Young Master of the Quincy Family should be waking up soon."

He shot Marshall Shaw a aningful, half-smiling glance.

The implication in that single glance made Marshall Shaw’s heart leap into his throat.

’Could the Young Master of the Quincy Family be involved in this?’

***

「Infirmary.」

Leigh Miles was the first to wake up. The Martial Healer beside her breathed a sigh of relief.

"Young lady, how are you feeling?"

Leigh Miles checked her own pulse, then pulled a small vial of dicine from her pocket, tipped out a pill, and popped it into her mouth.

"Hey, what are you doing? Don’t just take random dicine!" the Martial Healer exclaid, reaching to snatch the vial from her hand.

Leigh Miles swiftly dodged him. "This is my own secret formula. It’s specifically for internal injuries. If you don’t believe , check my pulse in a minute."

The Martial Healer anxiously reached out to check her pulse. After a mont, his eyes lit up as he stared at the vial in her hand. "Is this the Warner Family’s secret dicine?"

Leigh Miles rolled her eyes. ’As if the Warner Family’s dicine could compare to my own concoctions.’

Just as she was thinking this, the infirmary door was pushed open.

"Leigh Miles..."

"Senior Sister?" The mont Leigh Miles saw Aurora Sinclair, she leaped off the bed and threw herself into Aurora’s arms. Her face fell, and she complained with a pout, "Senior Sister, my chest hurts! The masked man beat so hard I coughed up blood. I couldn’t defeat him..."

Aurora Sinclair patted her head. "You need to train harder when we get back."
