"Basil Kane then sent his son back to the imperial court. Several months later, the new emperor decreed that Basil Kane and his descendants were to return to the court to be ennobled..."
Lucas Kane paused, his brow furrowed in doubt.
"Were the mbers of the Azure Clan pardoned?" Dawn Miles asked.
Lucas Kane shook his head. "There’s no record of it. It only says that Basil Kane returned to court with his children and subordinates to be ennobled, with no ntion of the Azure Clan. Basil Kane recorded the final four moves of the Azure Clan’s ultimate techniques, engraving them on a Sheepskin Scroll that has been passed down to this day..."
Afterward, Lucas and Fletcher Kane found various other historical docunts and old artifacts their father had collected over the years.
One particular unofficial history caught Dawn Miles’s interest.
"May I borrow this book to study?"
By this point, The Kanes saw her as the Kane Family’s great benefactor, so of course they agreed.
After leaving the Kane Ancestral Hall, Dawn Miles glanced at the stone monunt again and said flatly, "I hope you will stop using those four moves. As compensation, I will teach Kyle Kane a complete, inherited Fist Technique. This inheritance can be passed on to others."
Lucas Kane and Fletcher Kane were overjoyed.
Inherited Fist Techniques were typically the most treasured secrets of the various Ancient Martial Families and Sects, never easily taught to outsiders.
Dawn Miles turned back to Kyle Kane and said seriously, "I hope this Fist Technique can be spread, but do not ntion my na to outsiders."
Kyle Kane pressed his lips together, then suddenly dropped to his knees, respectfully performing the ceremony to acknowledge her as his master.
But Dawn Miles abruptly shifted to the side, not fully accepting his gesture.
This left Lucas and Fletcher Kane with a mix of emotions. The move ant that the young woman before them did not deem Kyle Kane worthy.
But Kyle Kane’s gaze was resolute, as if he had already committed to the person before him.
Dawn Miles coughed lightly. "First, learn the Fist Technique well."
In the days that followed, Kyle Kane began learning the Positive Order Boxing Technique from Dawn Miles.
This Fist Technique had twelve layers in total, and Dawn Miles herself was still figuring out how its power corresponded to the established ranks.
At her current strength, she had just broken through to the Seventh Layer and had not yet fully mastered it. Before she crippled her own ridians, however, her strength had already reached the level of a Basic Martial Lord.
If she calculated based on the progression of the Radiant Void Fist she had practiced before, the first six layers should correspond to the six realms from martial master to Great Martial King.
Dawn Miles had Ditto Miles take the videos she recorded of the first six layers of the Positive Order Boxing Technique, turn them into a special encrypted file, and copy it for Kyle Kane.
Aside from the first layer of the Fist Technique, which he could watch and study freely, he would have to pass her assessnt to learn the second layer.
The movents of the first layer were very simple. Kyle Kane morized them after watching just once.
Lucas and Fletcher Kane felt a growing sense of doubt. ’This Fist Technique seems far too simple.’
But when Kyle Kane began to practice, they suddenly discovered that his performance of the first layer was a far cry from Dawn Miles’s movents in the video.
In terms of both power and form, his punches were not as precise, fluid, or natural as Dawn’s in the video.
By the end, they were starting to question everything, wondering if Kyle Kane had ever seriously practiced martial arts in his life.
"Kyle Kane, stop for a mont."
The two n’s expressions were grim, and their faces felt a little hot with embarrassnt.
Although the Kane Family wasn’t one of the great Ancient Martial Families, their children were required to train from a young age and all had a solid foundation. For him to perform the Fist Technique this poorly was a disgrace to the Kane Family’s na.
Fletcher Kane glanced nervously at the girl sitting under the tree, reading the unofficial history.
Seeing that she didn’t seem to be looking their way, he breathed a sigh of relief.
’No wonder she didn’t accept Kyle when he tried to beco her disciple.’
Lucas Kane, however, was furious, glaring at his son with exasperation.
If his body allowed it, he would have been the first to jump up and smack him with a stick.
"Do you have any idea what ’a miss is as good as a mile’ ans?"
"Yes."
Kyle Kane pressed his lips together, his head slightly bowed.
He didn’t know why, either. He was clearly trying to follow Dawn Miles’s movents, but his body wouldn’t obey. He felt a sense of powerlessness, like his mind was willing but his flesh was weak.
In the end, the more he tried to perform well, the more imprecise his movents beca. It even felt like a clumsy imitation.
"Break down the movents, practice them one by one..."
As he was speaking, a figure suddenly shoved the courtyard gate open and shouted anxiously:
"This is bad, Boss! Zack Sutton and Lawson are fighting with Leo Warren’s guys!"
Purple, Randall Warren, stumbled in, clutching an injured arm.
His mouth was bruised and his lip was split. His clothes were torn and stretched, clear signs that he had just been in a vicious fight.
The expressions of the Kane n changed instantly.
Leo Warren was the son of Linton Warren, the master of Warren’s Martial Arts Hall at the edge of town. He was also a distant relative of the Grants of Crestfall, five generations removed.
Leo Warren and his cronies had always been at odds with Kyle Kane and his friends.
Now that Kyle Kane was preparing to open a martial arts hall, Leo Warren was causing even more trouble. He would either prevent people from renting them a space or spread malicious rumors, constantly bringing up the old incident at the Kane Martial Arts Hall to ruin their reputation.
They had thought that getting certified in the city would make Leo Warren and his gang back off a bit. They never expected them to be causing trouble again just two days later.
Kyle Kane clenched his fists, his expression grim as he strode quickly outside.
"Boss, they’re at the elentary school."
Kyle Kane’s steps faltered for a second, and the anger radiating from him intensified.
The space he rented was far from Warren’s Martial Arts Hall; the only thing nearby was an elentary school.
To ensure a smooth opening for the hall, Zack Sutton and the others had been keeping a low profile these past few days, even handing out flyers right at their own doorstep.
For a conflict to break out in front of the elentary school now, Leo Warren’s n must have co looking for a fight on purpose.
***
It was noon, and school was letting out. The entrance to the elentary school was crowded with students and parents.
Zack Sutton had seized the opportunity to hand out flyers, but unexpectedly, Leo Warren had shown up with his own n to do the sa.
They had rembered their boss’s orders to ignore them, but Leo Warren and his group started deliberately shouting about the accident at the Kane Martial Arts Hall years ago.
Zack Sutton couldn’t take it and started arguing with them, but they just continued their provocations, calling them thugs who had no skill and were just out to scam people’s money.
In the end, the war of words turned into a physical brawl.
This ti, Leo Warren had clearly co prepared, bringing all the top fighters from Warren’s Martial Arts Hall.
They were fighting dirty, too, as if they intended to cripple them.
Just as soone was about to intentionally break Zack Sutton’s arm, Kyle Kane finally appeared, landing a punch square on Leo Warren’s face.
Leo Warren was only a First Rank Great Warrior and no match for Kyle Kane at all. He was sent sprawling to the ground.
Leo Warren wiped the blood from his lips and spat. "The Kane Family’s swindler finally shows his face."
A large crowd had gathered. If this wasn’t handled properly, the Kane Martial Arts Hall’s reputation would be ruined.
This was exactly what Leo Warren had been counting on when he chose this ti to show up.
Kyle Kane scanned Leo Warren and his n, suppressing his rage. "The Kane Family has already been certified as an Advanced Martial Arts Hall by The Martial Association. If you slander us again, don’t bla us for getting rough!"
"The Kane Family, an Advanced Martial Arts Hall? How much money did you bribe them with to get that certification?"
Kyle Kane helped Blondie up and said coldly, "Are you talking about yourselves?"
His words imdiately drew laughter from the onlookers. The Warren Family was known for being arrogant in Crestfall, relying on their connection to soone holding a position in The Martial Alliance.
Over the years, they had used all sorts of tactics to suppress their competitors, to the point that the martial arts hall scene in Crestfall was nearly monopolized by the Warrens.
anwhile, their training fees grew more expensive every year, while the quality of their instruction was inconsistent.
Anyone in the know could see it, but most kept quiet, wary of the Warren Family’s Power in Crestfall.
This ended up swindling many parents who had high hopes for their children.
If a child’s martial arts level didn’t improve, they would be told to pay higher fees to learn a "stronger" technique. In the end, not only would the student learn a confusing mishmash of styles, but the hall would also shift the bla, telling the parents their child just lacked talent for martial arts.
Zack Sutton was one of the kids who had been scamd by the Warrens’ martial arts hall.
That was why he had been so enthusiastic when Kyle Kane decided to open his own hall.
Leo Warren, humiliated and enraged, shouted, "Kyle Kane, your own father crippled himself through his training, and now you have the nerve to co out and harm others..."
