Chapter 521: Sealing

The silence after the fairy’s words was almost deafening.

Zuri tilted her head, her golden eyes flashing. “Did you say… Lucifer?”

Titania said earnestly, swallowing hard.

“Yes… it’s the sa kind of spell that was used to seal demons who fell in the War. This prison isn’t just ancient… it’s a part of the Underworld’s history.”

Rize clicked her tongue, laughing nervously.

“Then… great. We’re descending straight into a fucking demon vault. I should have stayed above ground.”

Katharina didn’t laugh. She glead, her teeth bared, her eyes glowing with flas.

“Vault or not… I want to see what the hell is trapped inside.”

Roxanne descended a few more steps, her fingers still brushing the walls. Her expression was hard.

“If this is the sa as Lucifer’s… it ans there must be sothing really strange in there.”

Vergil finally turned, looking over his shoulder. His smile wasn’t one of fear—it was pure excitent.

“Then it’s perfect.”

“P-perfect?!” Titania gasped, her wings trembling as if torn. “This is madness, Vergil!”

He chuckled softly. “Madness is wasting sothing no one knows is here.”

The steps ended at a circular platform. The hall before them was imnse, vaster than any cathedral. Pillars of bone and black iron supported the ceiling, but it was the center that dominated everything:

A circle of colossal chains, each link larger than a human body, pulsing blue and red. In the middle, suspended, was a figure.

Humanoid, but hulking. Its gray skin seed cracked, and from within these cracks escaped golden light, like divine fire trapped in broken flesh. Fragnts of celestial armor still clung to its shoulders and legs, twisted and stained with ancient blood.

Her eyes were closed, but each breath made the ground tremble.

Titania imdiately fell to her knees, tears streaming.

“N-no way…”

Vergil moved, his steps slow, his smile widening.

“Yes, it can.”

He stopped a few feet away, examining the being like a collector before a lost relic.

“A primordial demon… fallen.”

A creature chained between his fingers. The sound of ecological currents was like thunder, and a spark of energy ran through the walls, shutting down all placent races for a few seconds.

And then, a voice echoed. Not through the walls. Not through the air. But inside each of their minds:

“Saim… you shouldn’t stay here…”

Vanny took a step back, raising her fists covered in purple energy.

“I didn’t like that…”

Katharina laughed, spitting blood onto the floor. “I liked it.” Finally, sothing that isn’t just flesh and blood…

Roxanne opened her daggers, her red eyes fixed on the entity. “Vergil… if this seal breaks, I don’t know if I can defeat this.”

Vergil tilted his head to the side, still smiling.

“Who said anything about winning? This thing won’t attack, right?”

The demon opened its eyes. A hazy glow, so strong it blinded everyone for an instant, filled the room. The impact of simply opening its eyes made Rize fall to her knees and Vanny grit her teeth in pain. Titania was sincere, as if her soul were being ripped apart.

And the voice echoed again, clearer, heavier:

“No… release … forget and go away…”

The room vibrated with that voice.

Each word didn’t just echo in the ears—it sank straight into the bones, into the soul, as if it were an ancient command, impossible to ignore.

Zuri squeezed her eyes shut, her body trembling. “This presence… it’s suffocating…”

Rize breathed heavily, clutching her chest tightly. “It’s not just demonic energy… it’s… as if the underworld itself breathes with him.”

Vergil laughed. A low laugh, full of contempt. “Begging to be forgotten? How ironic… a creature from there begging like a chained dog.”

Katharina moved a step, her feet leaving trails of lava on the floor.

“He lies,” she said, her voice reverberating like crackling fire. “Every prison lies.”

“No.” Titania shook her head, tears streaming down her face. “It’s not a lie. I feel… he doesn’t want to be free… because he knows what will happen if he leaves.”

The chains shook. The sound was so loud that cracks opened in the ceiling. Fragnts of bone and iron fell like rain.

The creature, its eyes still open and shining like extinguished suns, charged straight at Vergil.

— Lucifer betrayed … I was sealed here… so… just go away… I don’t want… to be involved… with this world… anymore…

Roxanne simply witnessed a demonic creature, one that didn’t quite have a male or female form, simply a being in agony, refusing to continue its life… that was…

“That’s sad,” Roxanne comnted, looking at the thing. “Vergil… if this thing is telling the truth… it might be best if we just leave…”

Vergil arched an eyebrow, his smile never fading. “I think there’s no point in leaving now. We’re already here.”

“I hope you don’t want to touch this thing,” Titania said, her voice echoing sharply, broken. “If you open this, you’ll condemn us all!”

Vergil took a step forward. The katana glowed a cold blue, cutting through the air as if it were part of it.

“Condemn? No, you idiot fairy… I’ll free you.”

The chained entity trembled. The air grew heavy, so heavy that even breathing seed impossible. And the voice returned, a muffled roar that cut through every rune on the walls:

“DON’T TOUCH ! I WON’T GO!”

The entire hall shook. Zuri grabbed Titania, pulling her back, while Roxanne was already positioning herself to attack. Vanny drew his fists, covered in purple energy up to his eyes, ready to launch himself.

Katharina, however, laughed, vibrating.

“Yes! YES! That’s what I want! A supernatural strength!”

Rize, panting on the floor, stared at Vergil.

“…Vergil…if you do this…there’s no going back.”

He smiled. A calm, cold, almost patient smile.

He slowly began walking toward the seal where the creature was trapped and touched its head.

“Why did my grandfather betray you?” he asked, looking the creature straight in the eye.

“G-grandfather?… a… descendant?…” She stamred.

“That’s right. My Grandfather. Lucifer.” Vergil said, staring into the creature’s golden eyes. “What, are you keeping records of him like that stupid fairy over there?” he questioned.
