Biology class had ended ten minutes ago, and Lyan was still mulling over a certain matter as he walked down the hallway.
It was about Sera, who had been acting strange the entire ti, not speaking to him beyond simply responding to the greeting he had given her at the start of class and nothing more.
She had just remained in her seat, staring forward with a serious expression.
’Why does she feel so off today?’ Lyan thought, frowning.
Shaking his head quickly, he didn’t want to think too much about it.
But before he could leave the classroom to head to the library, Reid had stopped him, approaching with that sa usual smile, and asked if he wanted to go talk to so upperclass girls who, apparently, had been asking about him specifically.
But Lyan had rejected the offer without thinking.
"I have to go to the library," he said.
Reid looked at him with a surprised expression and then let out a mocking laugh.
"Show-off," he replied, but in the end, he gave him a pat on the shoulder and let him go.
Lyan continued walking alone through the halls, his mind still a bit scattered, when suddenly, soone called his na.
"Lyan!"
He snapped out of his thoughts, turning his head.
Solène was standing at the end of the hallway with a group of friends, all of them just as beautiful. Solène greeted him with a big smile and her hand raised, and her friends were also looking at him, laughing among themselves, but they raised their hands to greet him as well.
Lyan just gave a slight smile and raised his hand in greeting without stopping for long. He kept walking down the hallway while feeling the girls’ gazes on his back.
He kept going until he reached the library. It was the first ti he had entered the one in the ga, which, unlike the one in his real life, was much larger and surprisingly empty.
There were only a few scattered students, most at distant tables and in silence.
Lyan entered and began walking through the aisles of tall shelves. He didn’t exactly know what he was supposed to do there, only that the system had told him to co during recess.
He kept moving forward, looking from side to side, searching for anything that seed like an objective.
When he turned around one of the taller shelves, he bumped into sothing. He heard a dull thud and several books fell to the floor.
Lyan looked down, realizing it was Evelyne.
The girl was sitting on the floor, on her backside, with several books scattered around her. Lyan froze for a second.
’Damn... the sa situation as with Sylvaine again.’ he thought, cursing internally.
He quickly shook his head and extended his hand, embarrassed.
"Sorry, I didn’t see you," he said. "Are you okay?"
Evelyne looked at him calmly for a couple of seconds. Then she accepted his hand and pushed herself up with force.
Lyan wasn’t expecting that strength and ended up pulling her more than necessary, and suddenly, the girl was pressed against his chest, practically hugging.
For an instant, Evelyne brought her nose close to his neck and discreetly inhaled, closing her eyes with a clear expression of displeasure on her face. Lyan could feel her warm breath against his skin.
She quickly pulled away, taking a step back.
"Thank you for the help," she said in a calm voice.
"Don’t apologize, it was my fault," Lyan replied, still a bit embarrassed.
Without saying much more, he crouched down and began picking up the fallen books, Evelyne doing the sa in silence.
When they finished gathering everything, Lyan looked at the stack in his arms.
"Where were you taking these?" he asked.
"I was going to put them back on the shelves," she answered simply.
Lyan assud that must be the system’s mission. Without thinking twice, he offered his help. "I’ll help you."
"Alright."
They began walking together through the aisles. Lyan placed the books on the higher shelves while Evelyne handed him the ones he still needed.
The silence between them was comfortable, but not entirely.
At one point, Lyan had his back to her, stretching his arms to place a thick book on the top shelf.
Behind him, Evelyne stood still, staring at him intently.
Her expression had completely changed.
Her blue eyes filled with a dark obsession, mixed with pure, deep hatred.
She rembered the feminine scent she had slled on Lyan’s neck a few minutes ago, a scent that didn’t belong to any girl she could recall. She pressed her lips together tightly.
But despite the hatred, she couldn’t help biting her lower lip when she rembered the sensation of being pressed against his body, even if it had only been for a second.
Evelyne whispered sothing to herself.
"It doesn’t matter who or what... you will be mine..."
Lyan finished placing the book and turned around, looking at her curiously.
"Did you say sothing?" he asked.
Evelyne changed her expression in less than a second, returning to being the calm and quiet girl as always.
She shook her head softly. "No, nothing," she replied with a small laugh.
Lyan looked at her for a mont longer, puzzled, but in the end, he shrugged and continued placing the next books.
Evelyne stayed behind, watching him in silence as a dark shadow crossed her eyes once more.
Recess was about to end, but before Lyan could finish the day’s "mission," he heard a small groan of pain behind him.
"Did sothing happen—?" he didn’t finish asking when he saw Evelyne with a pained expression on her face and small tears threatening to fall.
Lyan quickly grew alard, approaching her and crouching down to her level.
"W-What happened?!"
Evelyne simply kept her gaze lowered, looking at her slightly reddened ankle, sothing Lyan did not miss.
"I-I’ll take you to the nurse..." he murmured, thinking about how to carry her.
While he was lost in his thoughts, he didn’t notice Evelyne’s smile as that entire sensation of pain seed to have disappeared from her.
