Now reading: Chapter 61: My Meta-Knowledge Failed And My Blood Was On The from My Yandere Tamer System: Every Beast Becomes a Sexy Goddess, a Fantasy novel by NoanKnight.

The script line changed color at fourteen hundred.

THE BREACH WILL NOT WAIT dissolved from pale to black. New text replaced it: UNSCRIPTED EVENT. NO PREVIEW AVAILABLE.

Black ink. Script Sight had never used black before.

Soren filed that under things that were worse than bad.

◆◆◆◆

The team assembled in nine minutes.

Joan cleared them through the east gate.

Soren, Selah, Maren, Grimm.

Troy stationed his knight at the gate periter as overwatch but did not co because Troy did not do team deploynts.

Dani stayed at the academy.

Her moth tracked their location in real ti.

Soren felt the low hum at the base of his skull shift as they moved east.

Six kiloters out, the forest was dead.

Trees standing with no leaves, no bark texture, no color.

The soil had the consistency of chalk.

Soren ran every Fracture breach pattern from the novel through what he was seeing.

None of them matched.

In the book, breaches followed a three-phase model. Spatial distortion, entity ergence from a center point, collapse within four minutes.

What he was looking at had no center point.

The distortion ran east to west in a two-hundred-ter seam, thin, pulsing once every three seconds with a light that had no color he could na.

"This formation isn’t in any reference I’ve studied," he said.

Maren’s ears were forward. Heat building at her fingertips. "How many?"

"I don’t know."

"You always know."

"Not today."

◆◆◆◆

The first beast ca through the seam at the eastern end.

It was wrong.

Novel Fracture beasts were crystalline, angular.

This one was fluid.

Its body shifted shape between steps, too many limbs one second, four legs the next, then sothing with no biological category at all.

"Selah, anchor. Maren, flank. I’ll draw it."

"You’ll draw it," Maren said. "You’re E-rank with no combat ability and you’ll draw a Fracture beast."

"Grimm absorbs the first hit. Go."

Grimm surged forward.

The collision was silent.

Two bodies of different composition hitting each other at speed.

The beast shifted around her, reford behind her, struck with a limb that changed shape mid-swing.

Grimm slid backward six feet, claws gouging chalk lines in the soil.

The second beast ca through at the western end.

Selah moved without being told.

Frost raced across the ground from her boots in a forty-ter semicircle.

The second beast’s lower limbs crystallized on contact.

Maren intercepted.

Fire along both forearms, hot enough that the nearest dead trees caught for one second before the emptied wood had nothing left to burn.

Two beasts.

Two fronts.

Grimm east while Selah and Maren west.

Soren stood in the middle.

The third beast ca from underneath.

It erupted from the chalk two ters to his left. Compressed Fracture matter moving on instinct.

Soren turned. He was not fast enough.

The claw opened his left side from hip to the bottom of his ribs.

Not deep enough for organs. Deep enough that his shirt went from dry to soaked in three seconds.

He went to one knee.

Grimm hit the beast from the side.

Jaws on sothing that might have been a neck, body driving it sideways. It thrashed, reford, broke free, circled.

Soren pressed his hand against his side.

His blood was on the chalk and it looked very red against the white.

◆◆◆◆

Maren’s scream reached him before he saw her move.

It ca from the fox part of her, the part that bypassed words and went straight to the place where protect ant kill anything that caused this.

He could feel her through the bond.

The spike hit like a wall of heat behind his chest.

Sothing that rembered a girl who bled out on a different forest floor wearing the face that Maren wore now, the face she had taken because the girl was already gone and the shape needed soone to carry it forward.

Maren’s fire doubled. Tripled.

Soren watched the western beast catch fire in a way Fracture matter was not supposed to catch fire.

Its fluid form stiffened, cracked, split apart in sections that fell to the ground still burning.

Selah’s frost hit the third beast before Maren’s scream finished echoing.

A focused corridor of sub-zero air from thirty ters out. The beast’s limbs locked in place mid-strike.

Then Selah was running and dropped to her knees beside him.

Both hands on his wound. Cold pulsed through the torn tissue, enough to constrict, not enough to damage.

"Hold still."

"I’m holding."

"Hold stiller!"

Grimm finished the third beast with efficiency.

She circled back and pressed her body against Soren’s other side.

Maren reached them, her hands still hot.

She crouched opposite Selah, put her palm flat on Soren’s back, channeled low heat into his core to offset the cold Selah was putting into his wound.

Hot and cold eting inside his body at the exact place where his blood was supposed to stay on the inside.

"You’re an idiot," Maren said. "Standing in the middle with no combat skill."

"The middle is where the tar stands."

"The middle is where the tar bleeds!"

Selah’s hands pressed harder. The bleeding slowed.

Her fingers had a micro-tremor that the frost couldn’t hide.

She did not say anything else.

She didn’t need to.

Soren could feel both of them through the bond and neither of them had moved because the system told them to.

They had moved because they knew what it felt like to lose soone and they were not losing him today.

[DING! — Fracture breach: SEALED. Three entities eliminated. Breach pattern: UNKNOWN. Author deviation confird.]

The seam closed. The forest stayed dead.

"Can you walk?" Selah asked.

"Yes."

"Without leaning on ?"

"Probably not."

She put his arm over her shoulder. Maren took the other side.

They walked him back toward the academy wall while the pale ink at the corner of his vision stayed dark and blank.

No script line. No preview.

The Author had gone quiet.
