Relf shouted,
"Who are you people? We are the royal army of the Lukedonia Empire."
The man in the lead, wearing a mask shaped like a deer’s face, started laughing.
"Dead men don’t need to know much."
He immediately launched his attack. He was a fire magus.
The spell he cast was called Inferno.
The man was a Grand Magus, no doubt about it.
Relf shouted, "Protect the prince!"
Everyone instantly got into position.
A grand barrier magic was casted.
The ultra-heated fire beam fell on the barrier. The barrier could block the spell, but it could not block the heat.
Julious cast his earth-elemental spell to create another layer of protection under the barrier, shielding them from the heat.
This one spell almost took everything they had just to hold it off.
Relf drew his sword and charged toward the group of attackers.
He did not even think about his life.
He was a loyal guard of the emperor, and yesterday he had seen the potential of the fifth prince.
Even if all hundreds of them died today, the prince must not be harmed.
He coated his body and sword with water-elemental mana.
Then he used a water jet under his boots, which instantly boosted his speed up to three times.
"Die, you son of a bitch!"
He attacked the leader.
The leader cast ten fireballs toward him, but Relf cut them down like butter. Still, a magus was stronger than a knight.
The leader shouted, "Attack!"
All of his subordinates cast their spells at once.
Ten of them attacked Relf along with their leader, while ten more targeted the barrier.
Because if Relf fell, the others would be as good as dead.
The maguses on Ethan’s side could not cast offensive spells because they were busy maintaining the barrier, but the eighty knights were not made of slime.
As soon as the Grand Magus turned his attention toward Relf, the knights instantly charged out of the barrier.
But then came the worst part. The moment they left the barrier, attacks from all sides rained down on them. Maguses had been hiding to ambush them.
This was pletely out of their calculations. They had thought, at most, this was a powerful bandit team, so they assumed the enemy did not have more maguses than they had already revealed.
But this little miscalculation would cost them dearly.
Fifty more maguses came out from the surroundings.
The eighty knights were like pigs waiting for slaughter.
The leader laughed loudly,
"Your brothers are about to be slaughtered, mander. I suggest you hand over the prince and I will spare your brothers. Sounds fair?"
Relf did not even listen. He swung his sword and shouted,
"Our lives are worth nothing pared to his highness. Die, you bastard!"
But the leader was very nimble, dodging Relf’s sword with professional skills.
Relf shouted,
"Julious, run with his highness! We will hold them here. Now!"
He shouted again,
"Soldiers, Lukedonia is calling for sacrifices! Who will answer the call with me?"
All ninety-nine guards shouted at once,
"We will answer the call!"
The leader clapped his hands.
"Valiant indeed. I hate loyal dogs. You can all die now. I don’t have all day."
They all started chanting the same spell together. It was most likely a war spell.
Relf could tell it would be devastating.
Julious ran toward the carriage where Ethan was. He did not want the sacrifices of his brothers to go in vain.
But before he reached the carriage, the door opened.
Ethan slowly stepped out.
His long silver hair flowed in the air. His sapphire blue eyes carried a chilling coldness.
His royal overcoat fluttered in the wind.
At that moment, he looked unimaginably handsome for a six-year-old boy.
The ancestor was about to take action. He could not allow the loyal guards to die here. But when he saw Ethan’s expression, he stopped.
He wanted to see what Ethan would do.
Ethan slowly walked to the center of the barrier.
"Disband the barrier."
His words were absolute. The maguses instinctively canceled the barrier, but they instantly regretted it. They had left the prince wide open to the attackers.
These were all high-level maguses.
They could not even understand why they obeyed.
Ethan placed his left hand behind his back and extended his right hand forward.
Instantly, five portals appeared in front of his five fingers.
At the same time, fifty portals appeared behind the fifty maguses who were hiding to ambush the knights and were now busy chanting the war spell.
"Perish."
Ethan spoke slowly, and five plasma lightning beams shot out from his fingers, piercing the heads of all fifty maguses like clay.

Ethan fired his plasma beams again.
The heads of the twenty-seven maguses exploded, while the leader’s limbs were instantly torn apart. Only his upper body and hands remained.
Ethan’s eyes were still calm. He did not know why, but although he had felt endless anger a moment ago, he now felt nothing after killing humans for the first time.
"Keep him alive and ask questions."
Relf immediately rushed forward and shattered the leader’s jaw so that, if he carried poison, he could not swallow it.
Edian was shocked to the extreme.
"He can already use that spell to such an extent. Now I am certain he will be able to enter the Sacred Realm and e out alive.
