The passerby looked at him and saw that an extrely handso young man in dilapidated clothes was standing before him. The clothes were worn and stained, but that only seed to increase his strange, unsettling charm.
"Are you new to the city?" the man asked.
"Yes," Ethan nodded.
"That figures. The city was not this peaceful even a year ago. But the mont the new mayor took his position, the entire city changed. The police started behaving properly. All the problems of the city were solved in two months. It beca easy for us to abide by the law. Those who did not received instant punishnt. And now you can see how peaceful the place is."
The man spoke with reverence in his eyes, and his voice carried the warmth of genuine gratitude.
"Is that so? The mayor must be a great person," Ethan praised.
The passerby nodded vigorously.
"Thank you. Have a nice day," Ethan said, and he bid goodbye to the man.
"So there is such a person," Ethan thought as he resud walking. "Is he really a hero like the man said, or is there more to it? If he is a hero, he should have an extrely powerful backbone to make a ssy city this clean in a year."
After a while, he returned to the slum. He needed information about the mayor, and he had thought of sothing else, too, sothing that would bring him a lot of money and would beco a legitimate business as well.
"Yumiko, what are the most devastating diseases of the world right now which have no treatnt?" he asked silently. "And are there necessary ingredients in the world to make drugs to treat those diseases?"
[Yes, master. There are all the ingredients present. Humanity just has not figured out the recipe yet. Do you want to create so drugs?]
"Yes, that would be great. Give the recipes."
[Alright, master.]
Soon, Ethan received around thirty-five recipes for drugs that could treat thirty-five diseases that currently plagued humanity.
There were herbs in the recipes. There were minerals. There were so biological ingredients from certain animals or birds or fishes.
Ethan sought out everything, committing the recipes to mory, and then he called Drek.
"Sir, you called ?" Drek asked politely when he arrived.
"Yes. Take a look at these ingredients. Do you think you can manage to obtain them?" Ethan handed him a paper.
Drek took the paper and looked blankly at it. Except for two or three items, he had never heard of the other ingredients. But he dared not question.
"Sir, let use our sources first. I will let you know."
Ethan was not that tensed. Yumiko had already given him the locations from where all the ingredients could be collected. If Drek failed, then he would provide him the locations.
"And investigate the background of the mayor of the city secretly.", he said before Drek could leave the room.
Drek stopped in his track and nodded.
" Okay sir."
The next day, Ethan woke to the soft light filtering through the grimy window.
[Master: Ethan Hunt
Physique: 1.6 tonnes
Spirit: 1.6 tonnes
Talent: Infinite Comprehension]
His strength had surpassed Jas’s now. Not only that, he could now use telekinesis, for his spirit value had surpassed the thousand-kilogram mark.
Ethan had just sat up in bed when he heard a knock on the door. He scanned outside with his newly enhanced senses. It was Jas.
Ethan smiled and opened the door.
"Hello, Jas. How are you?" he asked.
Jas was looking at him like he was watching a demon. His eyes were wide, and his face was pale beneath its usual tan.
"You, you, you...," he lost his words, and his mouth opened and closed soundlessly.
"Co in. Do not put too much pressure on your shoulder," Ethan said, and he walked back to the bed.
Jas followed from behind, his footsteps were hesitant.
"What is going on?" he finally asked when he found his voice again.
"I have taken over the gang," Ethan said simply. "Do you have any objections?"
Jas did not reply imdiately. He was looking at Ethan intently, studying him with the eyes of a trained fighter.
"You have secrets," Jas said slowly. "Have you used so genetic serum or sothing?"
"No. Why would I do that?" Ethan asked, and he allowed a note of pride to enter his voice. "Even a level three force master is not my match."
Jas’s face turned serious when he heard those words.
"Do you know about martial artists?" Jas asked, and his voice was careful now, asured. "Are you from a hidden family?"
"I am not," Ethan said. "But I know about them. I also know that you are a level three force master. Now tell , why are you here, Jas?" he asked casually.
Instantly, Jas stood up straight, and he looked toward Ethan with horror in his eyes.
He tried to act like he did not know anything.
"I do not know what you are talking about," he said, and he scratched his head with a hand that trembled slightly.
"Who is the strongest man in your family?" Ethan asked, and he did not even look at Jas as he continued. "Can they provide with resources in exchange for pills?"
Jas’s eyes widened further. "Pills? Do you know about them, too? Are you saying that you have ways to obtain them?" he asked excitedly.
"I have my ways," Ethan said. "How rich is your family?"
Jas hesitated for a mont, and then pride swelled in his chest. "My family is one of the top ten richest hidden families. Our wealth surpasses hundreds of billions."
"Good, then," Ethan said, and he leaned forward slightly. "How about this? You provide with the ingredients, and I will make you all kinds of pills. I will take five percent of the pill’s market value as paynt."
Jas’s face turned dark. "You can make pills? And here I thought you were serious."
"Oh? Why the dark face?" Ethan asked with confusion.
"Do not joke," Jas said, and his voice carried a note of anger now. "Pills are all ancient treasures found in ruins. There is no current technology in the world that can recreate those pills."
"Is it that serious?" Ethan asked, and he smiled. "Then bring these ingredients. I will show you so magic."
He handed Jas a list of herbs and other materials.
Jas looked at the list, and his eyes widened as he read.
"These are all top-class ingredients," he breathed. "They would cost over a million Federation credits."
"Would that be more money than ten body-strengthening pills?" Ethan asked.
Jas swallowed hard, and his throat worked visibly.
"You are not deceiving , are you?" he asked, and his voice was barely a whisper.
"Why do you not bring those ingredients?" Ethan asked. "If I fail, you will only lose a million. But if I succeed, then..."
Jas stared at him for a long mont, and then he nodded slowly.
"Alright," he said. "I will bring them in two days. Bye."
And he left, closing the door behind him with a soft click.
