Chapter 134

Julie’s Point of View

I showered and dressed, but my mind was still stuck in the whirlpool of what had happened.

I rembered my touches, how I kissed Robert hysterically, how I stripped off my clothes before him, and even that kiss I planted on Carlos’s cheek. And the worst... my pleas to Robert last night to have sex, and the pain that is still throbbing madly in my pussy.

I said to myself in bewildernt as I examined my pale face in the mirror: "Is this how won beco whores? Was what hit a plague or a contagious disease?" I couldn’t find a logical explanation for this sudden descent.

Suddenly, a quiet knocking on the door pierced my train of thought. I froze in my place; no one had ever knocked on this door with permission before.

I went and opened it slowly, finding Carlos standing there in his imposing presence and black suit that accentuated the breadth of his shoulders, carrying a massive bouquet of red roses that obscured almost half of his body.

He said in a warm tone: "Good morning, Julie."

I remained staring at him, shocked by his sudden gentleness in knocking on the door, and muttered: "Good morning."

He said, tilting his head slightly with a faint smile: "Won’t you allow to enter?"

I beca flustered and took a step back: "Ah... of course, co in."

He stepped inside the room and sat on the chair with dignity, while I remained standing, my body stiff with tension. He extended his hand with the bouquet toward and said: "It’s for you, I hope you like it... last ti I brought many roses, but you didn’t tell your favorite type."

I took the bouquet from him; it was heavy and its sweet scent filled my chest. I placed it on the bed and said, trying to avoid looking into his eyes: "I don’t have a favorite type... I love all roses."

He replied with certainty: "Alright, I will bring you a different type every day."

I asked him, crossing my arms over my chest: "And what is the occasion?"

He answered while scrutinizing my features: "Roses love the company of roses."

I felt heat course through my cheeks, which reddened intensely, so I turned my face away and said in a low voice: "Strange things are happening to ."

He asked with interest, leaning his body toward : "What is the matter?"

I hesitated; was Carlos the right person? But I was drowning in my confusion. I said hesitantly: "The last ti I t you... I rember that I kissed you on your cheek, but I don’t rember everything."

He narrowed his eyes and said: "Yes, you were acting a bit strangely... did you take drugs?"

I started and said quickly: "No, never!"

He said in an expert tone while watching my reaction: "Your behavior was definitely because of drugs. If you didn’t take them yourself, then soone gave them to you without your knowledge."

I began to recall the events of the party in my mind and said apprehensively: "I drank two glasses of wine, and a piece of candy that one of the girls gave ."

He nodded and said sharply: "Yes, that wasn’t candy... it was a drug."

I felt terror course through my limbs; why did that girl do that? And did it happen again yesterday even though I didn’t eat anything strange? I said in despair, pressing my hand against my chest: "I must get out of this place, or I will go insane."

Carlos rose from the chair with confident steps and approached until I felt his prestige surrounding . He raised his hand and placed his warm palm on my cheek, and said in a low, deep voice: "Do you want to get out of here?"

I said eagerly, my body trembling under his touch: "Yes, of course I do."

He fixed his gaze in my eyes and said with a sincere promise: "I will get you out of here."

My pupils dilated from shock; was he really going to free from Robert’s grip? Would he take a risk for ?

I took a step back, feeling the coldness of the air replace the warmth of his hand on my cheek, and said in a tone filled with doubt: "You cannot get out of here, Mr. Carlos... he won’t allow it."

He fixed his sharp gaze on , and the veins in his neck bulged as he answered with terrifying insistence: "Do you an Robert? Even if he doesn’t allow it... I will take you out by force."

I looked into his burning eyes; they were radiating a sincerity that made my heart tremble in my chest. I asked him, swallowing with difficulty: "Are you speaking seriously?"

He said in a tone that allowed no interpretation: "Yes, I am." He approached again, leaving no room to escape; he placed his large hand behind my neck, and his long fingers drifted through the scattered strands of my hair, causing a shiver to run down my spine.

He whispered in a deep, sonorous voice: "I won’t allow you to stay here... just be patient."

At that mont, I felt an electric shock hit my mind; I suddenly rembered a blurry scene... I kissed him! My God, did I kiss Carlos too? My stomach contracted from intense embarrassnt, and I said with extre tension as I tried to evade his gaze: "I... I kissed you that day."

Quickly, I covered my face with my palms, feeling my cheeks burning with sha. I wished the ground would swallow ; how was I able to do all this? But he didn’t leave to my imagination; instead, he gripped my wrists gently and moved my hands away from my face softly, saying as his eyes followed my wandering eyes: "No need for sha... you weren’t in your right mind."

He asked to sit, so I sat on the edge of the bed with a stiff body, and he sat beside with a dignity that was not broken by his proximity to . He sighed deeply then said words that shook my being: "I like you, Julie... and I can no longer hide my feelings."

I froze in my place.

I never expected that a man of his status and prestige would see sothing special in , for I do not resemble his world full of blood and power.

I remained silent, watching the movent of my trembling fingers in my lap, so he continued in a tone that seed strange for a man like him: "I never imagined myself carrying feelings for a woman in my life, but you were different, Julie... and despite your young age which doesn’t match mine, and despite the fact that you don’t resemble my world... I am attracted to you."

I felt a lump in my throat preventing from speaking. In all my life, I hadn’t received but a single confession of love from "John" when I was thirteen, before my father surrounded with his fortified walls.

Perhaps he noticed my extre confusion and stamring, so he said in a calm voice to ease the pressure on : "I don’t expect anything from you, Julie... I am only clarifying to you what I feel toward you."

I swallowed and uttered a single word that ca out with difficulty: "Okay."

I knew that this response was cold and not fitting for such a heavy confession, but the words had died in my mouth, and I found no other way out of this situation that overturned the balance of my life in monts.

---------------------------

Carlos’s Point of View

Even though the word "Okay" was brief and dry, it fell on my ears as if it were a veiled promise; she didn’t refuse, she didn’t pull away in disgust, and that was all I needed for hope to ignite in my chest.

I watched her confusion, and how her fingers were fiddling with the edge of the black shirt she was wearing, as if she were trying to hide inside it. She is certainly attracted to , but she is a shy child lacking the boldness to utter what her small heart feels.

I adjusted my seating, feeling the weight of my prestige filling the place, then I asked her in a calm tone but one carrying the sharpness of possession: "You told that Robert kissed you."

Her pupils dilated suddenly, and she flinched for seconds as if she hadn’t expected to dig into that mory, then she said quickly while averting her gaze: "It was just a stupid thing to make angry."

Her tone did not carry any nostalgia, but rather dripped with annoyance. I wanted to uproot any doubt dwelling in my mind regarding that wretch, so I cupped her chin with my index finger and raised her face toward gently, asking her as I dove into the sea of her eyes: "Do you feel anything toward him?"

She didn’t hesitate; rather, the words ca out from between her lips with a sharpness that made my heart dance with ecstasy: "I hate that idiot."

I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling a crushing victory flooding my soul; she hates him.

This ans that Robert is nothing but a temporary obstacle in our path, and that he possesses no chance of reaching her heart. Julie will be mine; I will tear her away from this cursed club and from Robert’s grip, and I will make her mine alone.

--------------------------

Robert’s Point of View

I entered the office, my body moaning from excessive exhaustion, but my mind was worse; the image of Julie writhing and begging under the weight of that poison would not leave my imagination, gnawing away at my steadfastness.

I pulled a cigarette with slightly trembling fingers and lit it, taking a deep breath as if trying to burn those mories inside my chest, then I blew out the smoke slowly while watching it dissipate in the air.

Suddenly, the door opened and Carlos entered with his usual dignity, which has begun to provoke lately. He said in a calm tone: "Good morning, Robert."

I answered in a brief voice, as dry as firewood: "Good morning."

He sat in the chair opposite , crossed one leg over the other and interlaced his fingers, then said: "We have a shipnt leaving today from xico to Arica."

I puffed the smoke away and said with stillness: "Is there a problem?"

He replied coldly: "No, everything is going well."

I was silent for seconds; the tension between us was palpable, like a stretched string on the verge of snapping. I fixed my gaze in his eyes and said: "Have you thought about my words, Carlos?"

He looked at directly, a spark of defiance gleaming in his eyes that I hadn’t known in him before, and said with a certainty that shook the corners of the room: "I have decided to fight to get her."

My chest contracted with a force that made feel a sting in my heart. I crushed the cigarette between my fingers until it crumbled, and said in a tone as sharp as a razor: "Do you want us to beco enemies?"

He didn’t blink an eye; instead, he leaned his body toward slightly and said with terrifying confidence: "If getting Julie makes your enemy... then I accept, Robert."

I rose from my place, leaning both my hands on the wooden desktop while staring at him with suppressed anger: "You will not go near her."

Here, a provocative smile ford on his lips the smile of a man who thinks he has held the key and he said to as he stood up coldly: "But you cannot prevent her from coming close to ... she wants ."
