Chapter 959: Chapter 931: A Family
Li Chen had always known that Great Grandfather was strong.
Unreasonably strong.
However, Li Chen had no idea exactly how powerful Great Grandfather truly was.
The last ti he saw Great Grandfather take action was back in the relic. At that ti, the Main God, who had given him a massive headache, was like a chick in Great Grandfather’s hand, utterly incapable of resistance.
Similarly, that mutated monster general was nothing more than a paper tiger before Great Grandfather, easily taken down with a re flick.
Back then, Li Chen had no concept of how terrifying Great Grandfather’s power was.
But after stepping into the ranks of Martial Artists, Li Chen began to grasp a faint understanding of his strength.
Even then, the specifics were still unclear.
According to Li Chen’s guesses, the Black General might also have so connection to the relic, though he couldn’t figure out the exact details.
By now, however, the Black General, who had only been at the Yellow Rank back then, was obviously no longer relevant.
It wasn’t until later, with the appearance of the Seven-Colored Being, that Li Chen resolved to venture into the relic for answers.
At that ti, he had already reached the Profound Level.
Then, Fourth Grandfather told him that all the grandfathers were at the Earth Level…
Li Chen felt as though he was dreaming.
When he first returned from overseas, he had thought about showing off to his grandfathers, letting them see how much stronger he had beco.
But in the end, it all seed so laughable.
Even Yu Manfang, an Earth-level Expert who had appeared insurmountable in Li Chen’s eyes, soone he couldn’t defeat no matter how hard he tried, was treated like nothing but dust before Great Grandfather. A casual flick, and Yu Manfang was sent flying.
In that mont, Li Chen’s understanding of Great Grandfather’s strength grew even blurrier.
When he regained consciousness, he found himself in a small wooden cabin.
Beside him, An Qin lay quietly.
Rubbing his slightly aching head, Li Chen forced himself upright. Without disturbing An Qin, he carefully climbed out of bed.
After leaving the room, Li Chen realized he was back again at the second layer of the relic.
It was the sa wooden cabin he had previously stayed in.
The nearby lake remained unchanged. Li Chen could even see Xiao Jia’s head sticking out slightly from the water, its gaze locked on a Primordial Beast drinking from the lake.
“Awake now?”
Third Grandpa, who appeared to be brewing dicine, noticed Li Chen erging from the cabin and couldn’t help but laugh.
Li Chen turned his head and saw that, aside from Great Grandfather, the three other grandfathers were all present.
“I’ve made you all worry.” Li Chen scratched his head awkwardly.
“Let’s not talk about that.” Fourth Grandfather waved his hand dismissively. “I anticipated you’d go through this calamity, which is why we had the eldest go out to check the situation. I didn’t expect you’d end up right at the door.”
Li Chen’s expression grew even more embarrassed as he recalled sothing. “Grandfathers, I am truly sorry about this. The situation was urgent, and I accidentally exposed the relic…”
“Forget it.” At that point, Second Grandfather spoke up, waving it off. “If it’s ant to be, it’s ant to be. If not, there’s no use running from it. In the end, this place was bound to be revealed anyway. Consider it just happening a little earlier than expected.”
“Still, Li Chen, I need to remind you of one thing.” Fourth Grandfather looked at Li Chen, his expression suddenly growing solemn.
“Yes, Fourth Grandfather, please go ahead.” Li Chen nodded earnestly.
After calculating with his fingers for a mont, Fourth Grandfather finally spoke. “We old n have our limits; we can’t always protect you. Furthermore, as your strength grows, it becos increasingly difficult to predict your future.”
With a sigh, Fourth Grandfather shook his head. “In the art of divination, the future is inherently filled with infinite possibilities. The stronger one becos, the truer this is. Even though I managed to foresee this event, the timing was off. That’s why things ended up like this.”
“From now on, when you’re out in the world, you must be extra cautious. Don’t think you can just rely on us old n to back you up and act recklessly!” Fourth Grandfather warned him gravely.
“I understand.” Li Chen nodded firmly.
“Alright, alright.” At that mont, Third Grandpa chuckled and interjected, “I think he’s learned his lesson this ti. No need to lecture him too much—just make sure he drinks the dicine. The injuries he sustained this ti weren’t minor. If he doesn’t recover properly, it might impact his future cultivation.”
Hearing Third Grandpa’s words, a smile finally appeared on Li Chen’s face.
Among the grandfathers, Third Grandpa had the most gentle personality and often shielded him.
When he was younger, he and Wan’er had caused no small amount of trouble. It was always Third Grandpa who stepped in to defend them, sparing him who knows how many beatings.
An Qin, on the other hand, had suffered significant injuries this ti and still hadn’t woken up after a long while. When Li Chen inquired, Third Grandpa estimated it would take about another day.
Without pressing further, Li Chen took it upon himself to prepare so food.
Three elders and one youth sat together, and for once, Li Chen felt a rare sense of ho.
This feeling was different from the one he had back at the mansion.
If there was any distinction, it was that one was his current family, while the other was the ancestral ho.
Though he had long since left Panlong Village, for Li Chen, wherever his grandfathers were, that was ho.
“It’s a pity Wan’er isn’t here. Otherwise, our family would be complete,” Fourth Grandfather remarked with a smile while eating.
“And Great Grandfather himself, too. Li Chen is back now, but not even a al will coax him out,” Second Grandfather grumbled in dissatisfaction.
Third Grandpa waved it off with a laugh. “Forget it. The only one who could boss that stubborn old man around would be the Eldest Young Master…”
At this, Third Grandpa suddenly fell silent.
At the sa ti, the atmosphere among them grew heavy and quiet.
Not only the elders, but even Li Chen understood exactly who Third Grandpa was referring to when he spoke of the “Eldest Young Master.”
“Li Chen, I didn’t an to…” Third Grandpa began to say sothing, but Li Chen cut him off with a smile.
“It’s alright. We’re family. Having you all here is more than enough.” Li Chen didn’t elaborate further. Still, seeing the subtle lancholy in his expression, the grandfathers all knew what was on his mind.
“By the way.” As though rembering sothing, Li Chen intentionally changed the topic.
“Just how strong is Great Grandfather anyway? That Yu Manfang was my mortal enemy, and he’s an Earth-level Expert! But Great Grandfather sent him flying with just a swipe. Could it be that Great Grandfather is already a Heavenly-level Expert?” Li Chen asked curiously.
Hearing this, Second Grandfather burst into laughter. “Heavenly Level… Li Chen, you really dare to think big. Do you think Heavenly-level Experts grow on trees?”
