"Right, and the bodyguards and nannies. Make sure they’re arranged too, so I don’t have to worry about it," Yang Qi said.
"You can rest assured, everything will be taken care of. From now on, in Thunder City—no, in the entire Jingnan Prefecture—no one will dare to provoke them. Whoever does will be making an enemy of , Kong Tianjian," he declared.
He had received so many benefits from Yang Qi that his loyalty had intensified. This ti, Yang Qi hadn’t reprimanded him, only making him part with so money, for which he was extrely grateful. To him, wealth was rely a material possession anyway.
After Lin Tao and Guo Yuxue left, Kong Tianjian remained kneeling on the ground.
"What are you still kneeling for? Get up. I already told you, although you were negligent this ti, the fault wasn’t yours. By the way, why did you ask to co here? It wasn’t to treat that blockhead Kong, was it?" Yang Qi asked with a smile.
"Of course not!" Kong Tianjian shook his head. "I asked you here to discuss the National dicine Conference of the Southern Eight Prefectures!"
"National dicine Conference?" This was the first ti Yang Qi had heard of it. A conference for the Southern Eight Prefectures... Just how many famous doctors will be attending?
"Exactly. Every three years, the Southern Eight Prefectures hold a National dicine Conference to exchange dical Skills. Fundantally, however, it’s about dividing up the dical resources among the prefectures. If the Qifei Group wants to expand beyond Jingnan Prefecture, this conference is critical," Kong Tianjian explained. "It’s actually simple. Participants compete with their dical Skills, and resources are allocated according to the rankings. The stronger one’s dical Skills, the more resources one obtains."
"Those who rank at the bottom even have to relinquish resources from their own prefecture."
Yang Qi smiled and said, "Are you suggesting I participate in this National dicine Conference?"
"Precisely," Kong Tianjian replied. "Your dical Skills are superb, and you’re from Jingnan Prefecture, so you’re perfectly qualified. Besides, taking first place would be trendously beneficial for both the Qifei Group and the Star Shining Society."
"I’ll think about it," Yang Qi said after a mont. I need to investigate what this National dicine Conference is really all about and what benefits it holds for before deciding.
"As you should. There’s still plenty of ti, so you can consider it," Kong Tianjian said with a smile.
"Alright, I won’t overstay my welco. I’m off to see how my Brother Tao and Sister Xue’s new ho is coming along," Yang Qi said with a wave before departing.
In the Royal Xiang Mansion, Lin Tao and Guo Yuxue gazed at their huge villa, feeling as if they were in a dream. They imdiately called Lin Tao’s parents to co over. Guo Yuxue’s parents were out of town, so Lin Tao’s parents had been helping take care of Tongtong. It was ti for the old couple to enjoy life. The villa had everything, including a nanny, so they only needed to relax and enjoy themselves. Seeing Lin Tao and Guo Yuxue’s life gradually returning to normal brought a strong sense of fulfillnt to Yang Qi.
Following Yang Qi’s arrangents, Lin Tao and Guo Yuxue continued with their packaging design company while also starting a chain of pharmacies. Yang Qi found the locations for the shops, which were rent-free for the first year, aning it was pure profit. Just like that, Lin Tao and Guo Yuxue’s net worth soared into the hundreds of millions.
「Three days passed.」
By now, news of Lin Tao and Guo Yuxue’s success had spread throughout Thunder City, especially among their acquaintances. Almost everyone had heard.
This day, Lin Tao called Yang Qi. "Hey, Qi, did you know our class holds a reunion in Thunder City every year?"
"Really?" Yang Qi was stunned. It seems no one ever told .
"It’s normal that you didn’t know. This is the first ti I’ve been invited, now that everyone knows I’m a tycoon. People are so damn pragmatic," Lin Tao sighed. "I didn’t want to go at first, but you know how it is in business—you still need plenty of friends, even if they are just fair-weather friends."
"You should go, but I’ll pass. Besides you three, I don’t really know anyone else," Yang Qi said.
"That’s why I called. Liao Fusheng is going too," Lin Tao said.
"What? Brother Fusheng is going too?"
Yang Qi froze. He hadn’t seen Liao Fusheng in years. Back in school, he was the leader of the Martial Arts club and his sworn big brother.
"Fine, I’ll go!"
I have to go, even if it’s just to see Liao Fusheng. As for everyone else, I’ll just treat them as background props.
"Location and ti!" Yang Qi asked.
"Tonight at seven o’clock, at Wagang Mountain Village!" Lin Tao said. "I hear it’s a pretty upscale restaurant in Thunder City. The average cost per person is over a thousand."
"Expensive or not, I have to go!" Yang Qi said with a smile.
Just past seven in the evening, Yang Qi arrived at Wagang Mountain Village. The place was considered a second-tier restaurant in Thunder City. The more upscale establishnts had an average cost of tens of thousands per person, places ordinary people couldn’t afford.
The reunion was organized by a wealthy heir, a Thunder City local nad Chen Chong. Back in college, he had used his money to form his own little clique. He had been involved with about half the girls in their class. The other half were either too plain for his taste or, like Guo Yuxue, too proud and disdainful of him.
Chen Chong’s family was indeed wealthy, with assets worth over a hundred million, which was quite impressive, though it paled in comparison to the top families. He was currently working at his family’s company, basically just idling away his ti. He didn’t have much ability, but as the only son, he was destined to inherit the business.
However, Chen Chong had learned his father’s style of networking, choosing to associate only with people he found useful. For instance, he had never bothered with Lin Tao or Yang Qi before. He had invited Guo Yuxue in the past, of course—because she was beautiful and he had failed to win her over in college. This ti, he invited Lin Tao because he had beco successful, and Chen Chong saw him as a useful connection. Lin Tao, in turn, invited Yang Qi. That was the long and short of it.
The mont Yang Qi walked into the private room, everyone inside was taken aback. Chen Chong, in particular, frowned. "What are you doing here? Who invited you?"
Yang Qi casually took a seat. "Isn’t this a class reunion? I was in Kang City before, so I couldn’t make it. Now that I’m here, what, am I not welco?"
Chen Chong frowned. "It’s not that you’re unwelco, but we didn’t save a seat for you. You might have to stand." He then turned to the room, complaining, "Who on earth invited him without giving a heads-up? How inconsiderate."
"Exactly! What’s a down-and-out loser like him doing here? Trying to suck up to Young Master Chen or Lin Tao?" soone chid in.
"Heh, probably Lin Tao. He heard Lin Tao made it big, so he ca to ride his coattails," another jeered.
Laughter rippled through the people around them. Most of those present were Chen Chong’s lackeys; if Chen Chong disliked Yang Qi, they naturally followed suit.
"That’s right, I’m here to suck up to Brother Tao. You got a problem with that? If you’ve got the guts, then don’t invite Brother Tao in the first place," Yang Qi sneered. "Worried there are no seats? Fine, let’s get a bigger private room. Our esteed Young Master Chen is so rich, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind, right?"
