Ronald and this mage he happened to encounter talked for a long ti.
According to the caster nad Hokan, he was actually the last Stargazing Mage remaining in Lachmont.
Although most of his forr companions had resigned and left this city, Hokan believed that the duties of a Stargazing Mage went far beyond just spell research.
The observation and recording of the stars by humans.
It is also a very important part of what forms civilization.
And Lachmont, as an isolated island on the ocean, under certain weather conditions, holds exceptionally advantageous conditions for observing and studying celestial phenona.
Hokan did not want these records to be abandoned with the collapse of the city.
So he chose to stay here to continue his work and properly preserve other scrolls and materials, hoping that this way he can preserve the knowledge accumulated over countless years.
As the conversation continued, Ronald was genuinely impressed by the work of these mages.
In the past Dark Age, among those who possessed imnsely powerful spells, there were many who were full of a spirit of exploration. Among them, so tried to break free from the constraints of the earth to explore the brilliant stars in the sky.
Unfortunately, the results were not very optimistic.
Just as Ronald had once heard, even if these casters succeeded in leaving the ground, upon entering the cosmic environnt, the astronomical-unit-level distances and the harsh survival conditions forced them to stop there.
Ultimately, the actual exploration of the stars could only beco an unreachable dream for them.
In this situation, many began to devote themselves to theoretical research.
With portions of the original texts successfully deciphered, Stargazing Mages began to achieve a grand level of understanding of the universe. This work only had to be halted due to the onset of war.
...
The night passed quickly.
Ronald stood on the lookout tower, not realizing the late hour until a sea breeze reminded him, startling him to rember he had been disturbing the other for quite so ti.
This Stargazing Mage was originally at work.
Deciding to leave, Ronald, out of curiosity, asked one last question before parting:
"By the way, are you familiar with the original text 'Astronomy Master'?"
"Astronomy Master?" The Stargazing Mage clearly didn't expect to hear that term from Ronald; he furrowed his brows slightly, and his tone changed from before, "I do know that original text. It should have been during that great war that one of the powerful holders on the opposing side used its spells."
"Ronald, have you encountered soone from that school elsewhere?"
Ronald first nodded, then shook his head, and then straightforwardly summoned the original text of 'Astronomy Master' from his hand:
"This is what happened—I encountered an opponent and defeated them, and this original text was obtained from them."
"Although I haven't fully mastered the spells within yet, based on the expression of so spells, it seems to have a strong relation to elents like the stars."
"..."
As Ronald took out the original text, the Stargazing Mage was already frozen in place.
He fixedly stared at the 'Astronomy Master' in Ronald's hand, his expression filled with disbelief, but gradually turned to relief with a slightly complex smile.
"So, that guy didn't die in the war after all..."
After murmuring quietly, Hokan then looked up at Ronald:
"Mr. Ronald, you've accomplished a remarkable feat."
"The forr holder of this original text was quite a troubleso figure to deal with during that war. It was only near the war's end that he and his original text disappeared from the main battlefield. We always thought he died or was simply sealed away in prison at that ti."
"But it turned out he fell at your hands!"
Hokan clearly misunderstood the actual situation, even believing Ronald personally defeated this era's holder of the original text to acquire 'Astronomy Master'.
With such a misunderstanding.
Ronald didn't plan to explain his own origins to the other, so he glossed over it:
"The spells offered by this original text are indeed powerful, but the casting materials required are severely restricted. I can only say that it was luck that allowed to defeat its owner."
"You are too modest!" Hokan naturally didn't believe Ronald's account; instead, the Stargazing Mage earnestly said, "During the initial war, many of our companions were defeated by that terrifying enemy. This is by no ans an enemy one could defeat purely by luck!"
"..."
Seeing Hokan speak so, Ronald, of course, couldn't continue being modest.
He paused, deciding to steer the topic in a different direction:
"By the way, Mr. Hokan, seeing how familiar you are with this original text, does it an you witnessed its powers firsthand back then?"
The Stargazing Mage nodded, revealing so recollection in his expression:
"Yes, I indeed joined the battlefield back then. And the previous holder of this original text… Whether it was the terrifying manipulation ability affecting the entire battlefield or the Complete Technique able to control hearts, the power of this original text left a profound impression on at the ti."
The Complete Technique to control hearts...
Hearing the Stargazing Mage's account, Ronald was montarily stunned.
Previously using 'Astronomy Master' against enemies, he felt that most of its capabilities were spells born out of astronomical knowledge. Yet, in the end, the Complete Technique of this original text departed from the essence of stars and instead ventured into controlling hearts?
But soon, Ronald realized the reason behind it.
Because upon careful thought, such a result was indeed reasonable.
Just like the Complete Technique 'Terminus of Humanity' from 'Divine Cody', a spell led by its core creative concept,
The book 'Astronomy Master', constructed around celestial knowledge, inherently serves to maintain the geocentric theory, an erroneous doctrine. In such context, a Complete Technique with the ability to limit thoughts is indeed not problematic.
...
Thus, the conversation between Ronald and the Stargazing Mage, which was quite fruitful, ca to an end.
Coincidentally, Il, who was fiddling with the telescope beside them, seed bored.
So this guy ca over and tugged on Ronald's sleeve, then pouted towards the direction of the castle:
"Boss, let's head inside."
"Didn't we agree earlier to go in and see more interesting things?"
Seeing Il's actions, the Stargazing Mage smiled and resud his work, picking up the pen and paper he placed aside to continue recording.
"In that case, you should set off quickly."
"Just in ti for to continue my work..."
